Sugimoto's gang arrives at the racetrack. Shiraishi wins a large sum of money thanks to a fortune teller named Inkarmat. The final race has finally arrived. Due to a series of unexpected events, Kiroranke ends up acting as a substitute jockey. What's more, the race is rigged by the yakuza. Kiroranke ends up riding a horse that is bound to lose due to the rigged race, but he becomes enraged at the horse's owner, who forces him to drink large amounts of water and take drugs. Before the race, he tells Sugimoto and the others, "You guys, bet on me." Having grown up riding horses since he was a child, Kiroranke is angry at the owner for not taking good care of his horse, and goes on to take a brilliant first place finish. Kiroranke is a man of his word, and he looked great with his hair tossed back.

After fighting with all his might, Kazuo Henmi, one of the escaped prisoners, wishes to be killed like his brother in the mud and despair. He was captivated by the murderous scent of the immortal Sugimoto, who had killed countless enemies in the Russo-Japanese War, and wished to be killed by him. He began his one-on-one battle with Sugimoto, asking him to let him shine. As expected, Henmi was defeated. Just when he thought he was close to fulfilling his wish and dying in the sparkle, he was dragged into the sea by a killer whale. He had wanted to be killed by Sugimoto, but to end up with a killer whale was his final words. "This is beyond my imagination. This way of dying...it's the best!!" It's good that his wish came true.

From Sugimoto's flashback. This takes place before the Russo-Japanese War. Sugimoto had a childhood friend, Umeko, whom he loved, but after her parents died of tuberculosis, he feared he too had the disease. To avoid infecting Umeko, he left his house and left, leaving Umeko in the care of his childhood friend, Torajiro. Torajiro knew at the time that Umeko also loved Sugimoto. Later, Torajiro and Umeko got married, but on the day of their wedding, Sugimoto returned home. Torajiro threw Sugimoto away, saying, "I'll make Umeko, the woman I love, happy." Sugimoto left without seeing Umeko. However, when Torajiro arrived home, he asked Umeko, "What will you do if Sugimoto takes you away?" Tanigaki received sea otter meat from his grandfather, but the grandfather said he couldn't eat it because he was single. While simmering the meat in a pot, everyone suddenly began to look sexy. According to Ainu teachings, when eating sea otter, it must always be eaten in equal numbers of men and women. The smell of boiling sea otter stimulates the desires of the people, and if one is alone, one might faint. That's why the old man couldn't eat it because he was alone. Smelling that smell, Shiraishi said this when he saw Tanigaki. "This hunter... he's too perverted!!"

After being attacked by Private First Class Ogata of the 7th Division, Sugimoto was asked why he was searching for gold despite the danger.
