Episode 13 Edogai-kun

Episode 13 Edogai
While Sugimoto and his friends were heading to Yubari, Lieutenant Tsurumi and his friends, who had already visited Yubari, made contact with Yasaku Edogai, a young man who runs a taxidermy factory. Lieutenant Tsurumi found out that Edogai was making human taxidermy by robbing graves, and he had sniffed out that among the taxidermy was a prisoner with tattoos. Lieutenant Tsurumi was sure that Edogai was making human taxidermy. He showed Edogai a pair of gloves made of human skin that he had picked up as evidence, and used his skillful speaking skills to get into Edogai's heart. Edogai denies that he has made any human taxidermy, but when Lieutenant Tsurumi sees several human taxidermy in the back room, he reveals his true nature. Edogai is fascinated by Lieutenant Tsurumi, who recognizes what he is doing, and cooperates in making fake tattooed human skin.

Chikapashi who makes birds fly

Tanigaki meets Chikapashi
Tanigaki meets Chikapashi during a hunt. After hearing that Chikapashi has no parents and does not fit in well with the people around him, Tanigaki calls out to him, saying, "If you're interested, come closer." The name Chikabashi means "to make birds erupt," but when Tanigaki heard that it also implicitly means "to make the penis erect," he said, "So it means erection, what a good name," with this expression (lol). He didn't just inherit the knowledge of hunting from Nihei Tetsuzo.

Episode 14: Fakes

Episode 14: Kiroranke and the others
After much trial and error, Edogai completed six tattooed human skins (fakes). When Hijikata found out about this, he had Ogata raid the taxidermy workshop to retrieve the fakes before they were scattered. Sensing his life in danger, Edogai puts on a stuffed polar bear and runs away. Sergeant Tsukishima, who has already intercepted Ogata, chases after them, and Edogai and Sergeant Tsukishima get on a trolley and enter the coal mine. Sugimoto and Shiraishi also follow them on a trolley and enter the mine. Inside the mine, Sugimoto, Shiraishi, Sergeant Tsukishima, and Ogata are in a dead heat, but an explosion occurs inside the mine, and Edogai is buried alive. For Lieutenant Tsurumi, who was the first person to accept him, he entrusts the fake tattooed human skin he made to Sergeant Tsukishima and passes away, leaving behind the keyword "iron". Edogai had been teaching Lieutenant Tsurumi how to tell the difference between real and fake using the word "iron".

Episode 15: Let's Talk About Old Times

Episode 15: Hijikata
Hijikata's group stays in Yubari and searches for clues to distinguish fake tattooed human skins at Edogai's workshop. Suddenly, a Molotov cocktail is thrown there, and flames rise inside the building. The 7th Division set fire to the workshop to destroy evidence of fake tattooed human skins. Surrounded on the outside and with fire spreading inside, Hijikata and Ogata are in a difficult situation and allow the soldiers to enter. Nikaido attacks Hijikata, and another soldier attacks Ogata. Sugimoto rushes to Ogata's side and rescues him, and Hijikata takes advantage of a momentary gap to cut off Nikaido's leg and escape from the workshop.

Obedient Professor Chinpo and Stubbornly Silent Ogata

Silent Ogata
Sugimoto, Asirpa, Ushiyama, and Ogata eat in the forest. Asirpa offers the brain to Professor Chinpo (Ushiyama). Reluctantly, she cannot refuse and eats it, but Ogata simply refuses. By this time, Sugimoto has also started saying "hinna" when eating brains. Even when doing chitatap, Chinpo Sensei continues to chant "chitatap" like a spell, but Ogata doesn't say a word. It would be nice to see Ogata's "hinna" in season 3!

Episode 16: The Great Plan to Infiltrate the 7th Division in Asahikawa!!

Episode 16 Asirpa and Shiraishi
Hijikata and Kiroranke decide to rescue Shiraishi, who has been captured by the 7th Division in a valley called Kamuikotan. When the 7th Division reached the suspension bridge in the valley, Hijikata cut it off and dropped Shiraishi into the river. Kiroranke tried to take Shiraishi's hand, but Shiraishi had a fantasy of betraying Sugimoto and being killed, so he didn't take his hand and returned to the 7th Division. Should we rescue Shiraishi? While everyone was thinking about the risks, it was Sugimoto who spoke up and said he would go and help him.

Episode 17: Inside the Belly

Episode 17: Suzuki
The conman Suzuki tries to recapture Shiraishi by posing as the warden Inudo. Suzuki, disguised as Inudo, and Sugimoto, wearing a mask, visit the headquarters of the 7th Division to negotiate with Lieutenant Colonel Yodogawa. Suzuki dangles the bait of promotion and negotiates to hand over Shiraishi. They are close to winning, but the situation suddenly changes when Major Koito, who received instructions from Lieutenant Tsurumi, rushes to the scene. Major Koito deliberately speaks in Satsuma dialect to see how Suzuki will react. Sugimoto is anxious, but Suzuki shows off his genius as a con artist with a brilliant response. However, Major Koito sees through a slight flaw and shoots him dead. Shot in the left chest, Sugimoto grabs Shiraishi and jumps out the window to escape. Sugimoto and Shiraishi join up with Ogata and escape with the prototype balloon. Major Koito boards the prototype, but Asirpa's support and Shiraishi's flying kick repel him.

Episode 18: The Anine Children

Episode 18: Tanigaki
After receiving a telegram informing him that Fuchi was preparing his funeral clothes, Tanigaki thought that the best way he could repay Fuchi was to let Asirpa meet her. Suddenly, Tanigaki thought back to his past. When Tanigaki was a matagi hunter, he had a close friend named Kenkichi. Tanigaki was happy to see Kenkichi together with his sister Fumi, and congratulated him, but Kenkichi burned down the house with Fumi and disappeared. Tanigaki searches for Kenkichi in order to get revenge on Kenkichi. Tanigaki finds a soldier who has been injured in both eyes and is now blind, and gives him kakimochi (rice cracker rice cakes). The unique tasting kakimochi brings back memories for the soldier, and he tells him about his past, asking him to apologize to the Tanigaki family. To his surprise, the soldier is none other than Kenkichi, whom he has been searching for for many years. Fumi, who suffers from smallpox, asks Kenkichi to kill her to protect the Tanigaki family and Kenkichi. With no other options, Kenkichi kills Fumi and leaves the village to stop Fumi from suffering any more.

Episode 19 Kamui Hopunire

Episode 19 Hunter
After reuniting with Tanigaki and the others, Sugimoto and the others stop by a nearby Ainu kotan. Tanigaki tells Asirpa the contents of the telegram. Asirpa feels that Fuchi's death is near and is worried. Seeing Asirpa like that, Sugimoto suggests that they go to see Fuchi for a while. However, Asirpa does not choose to go back. Is her father still alive? Was it her father who killed the Ainu? Is there a future for the Ainu? Asirpa must know the truth, so she decides to move forward. Sugimoto takes Asirpa's feelings into consideration and heads back to Abashiri Prison.

Episode 20: Blue Eyes

Episode 20: Ogata and the Grasshopper
Sugimoto and his friends are attacked by a swarm of grasshoppers on the coast of Kushiro. The guys decide to spend some time in the room they've taken refuge in. In the meantime, they decide to make a hot pot of the sea otter that Tanigaki had brought with him and eat it. As they stew the sea otter meat, the guys get horny. To get rid of their horniness, they decide to take part in sumo wrestling. Maybe it'll be refreshing to fight naked... Meanwhile, Asirpa, who had taken refuge offshore on a boat, is told the truth about Nopperabo by Inkarma, who was with her.

A sumo tournament full of men

Sumo with Sugimoto and Kiroranke
As soon as they met up, Kiroranke said to Sugimoto, "You've suddenly become a good man since I last saw you." With this comment, they praised each other, and their arousal heated up. Sugimoto, who had reached his limit of patience, stripped off his clothes and suggested that they have a sumo match. The naked men who fought with all their might were able to release their energy and take a rest. There is no scene of Ogata wrestling, so we don't know if he participated, but he took off his clothes and put on a loincloth. Sea otter meat...scary (lol)

Episode 21: The Sound of a Surprise Attack

Episode 21 Totan Anji
Sugimoto and his friends visit a village on the shores of Lake Kussharo and hear that a group of blind thieves is attacking the village. According to Shiraishi, the leader is definitely Totan Anji, an escaped prisoner. Sugimoto and his friends are resting at a hot spring inn to gather information, but while they're soaking in the hot springs they're attacked by a group of bandits. Naked and unable to move, they find themselves in a difficult position, but they manage to fight back, led by Ogata, who never gives an opening and has a gun hidden nearby. Sugimoto and Totan Anshi get into a one-on-one fight in a hut, but as dawn breaks, Hijikata appears and persuades Totan Anshi to join them.

Episode 22: On the Night of the New Moon

Episode 22 Tanigaki and Kadokura
Asirpa was worried that her father might be Nopperabo, but the presence of Sugimoto, who had always been with her, encouraged her. With Abashiri Prison in sight, Sugimoto and his friends try to dig a tunnel to enter the prison, based on Shiraishi's idea. Disguised as Ainu hunters, they proceed with the work, digging to the planned location, and enter the prison through the tunnel. They meet up with Kadokura, the head of the prison guards, who is in collusion with Hijikata, and hold a meeting to plan a plan to recapture Nopperabo. Nopperabo is regularly moved around the prison, and under the instructions of Kadokura, who can accurately predict where he will be moved, Sugimoto and the others head to Abashiri Prison. Sugimoto and the others finally meet Nopperabo, but he is a fake. This was all part of Hijikata's plan to draw out the real Nopperabo.

Episode 23: Trampling

Episode 23 Sugimoto
Sugimoto and his friends break into the prison to rescue Nopperabo, but the Nopperabo they met deep inside the prison was a fake. Hijikata thought that by having Inudo target the fake one deep inside the prison, he would take out the real Nopperabo. As Hijikata had planned, Inudo went to Nopperabo, and Hijikata and Inudo engaged in a one-on-one fight. Sugimoto, who was saved by Kiroranke, will have a showdown with Nikaido. Sugimoto kicks Nikaido away in anger and encounters Nopperabou, who has escaped.

Episode 24: Resonance

Episode 24 Sugimoto and Nopperabou
Nopperabou sees Sugimoto's makiri and realizes that it belongs to his daughter. Nopperabou says that he will only tell Asirpa the clue to the gold. Meanwhile, inside the prison in chaos, Hijikata defeats Warden Inudo, and Lieutenant Tsurumi's group takes control of the freed prisoners. Meanwhile, Inkarma finds Nopperabo with Sugimoto and reports it to Asirpa. When Asirpa sees Nopperabo, she is sure that he is her father. When Nopperabo sees Inkarma and his daughter on the roof, he tries to tell Sugimoto something, but is killed by Okita's sniper. Thinking he has heard a secret, Okita shoots Sugimoto in the head as well. Realizing that Kiroranke was signaling to someone, Inkarma is stabbed, and Kiroranke and Okita leave for Karafuto with Shiraishi and Asirpa. Sugimoto is saved by Lieutenant Tsurumi and travels to Karafuto with Tanigaki to recapture Asirpa.
