Anson Sue, who appeared in the second episode of the anime Saga of Tanya the Evil, is known as Tanya's only rival in the anime version. He has fought Tanya three times and been defeated miserably all three times. It takes a lot of guts to go after someone you've already lost to. But what is it about Anson Sue that makes him so appealing? Let's take a look.

Anson Sue's Achievements

In episode two of the Saga of Tanya the Evil anime, Anson Sue leads a unit to challenge Tanya, who is acting alone, but her incredible performance results in their destruction. In episode seven of the Saga of Tanya the Evil anime, Anson Sue faces off against Tanya again. Each led a unit, with Anson Sue having a larger force, but his unit was annihilated by Tanya's, and, refusing to give up, he engages in one-on-one combat with Tanya. He charges at top speed, firing his machine gun rapidly, but his attempts are all blocked, and then Tanya, who also charges, thrusts her bayonet at him, piercing his chest and throwing him into the sea. At this point, Tanya takes the gun his daughter gave him.

Anson Sue, who had been stubbornly clinging to life, appears in episode 11 of the anime The Saga of Tanya the Evil as a vengeful demon. He launches a surprise attack with a treaty-violating weapon called a Stretch Gun to gain the upper hand in the battle, then attempts to engage in close combat and commit suicide, but with Viche's help, he is shot and foiled. He is then riddled with bullets with the gun Tanya stole from him. However, he does not die and instead commits a suicide bomb attack, taking Tanya with him. However, Tanya survives, and Anson Sue is reduced to dust and blown away by the wind.

Anson Sue is a caring friend

I think Anson Sue's charm lies in his caring friend. The reason he resents Tanya in the first place is because Tanya killed his friend.
Anson Sue has been promoted from lieutenant colonel to colonel, giving him a high position in the military, but he never treats his subordinates like pawns and instead leads the charge and fights hard.

Perhaps because of this behavior, when Anson Sue committed suicide, even one of the regular soldiers spoke to his superior and asked his superior to at least recover her belongings. This shows that he was an ideal soldier who trusted his subordinates and was trusted by them.

Anson Sue Never Gives Up

He challenged Tanya again and again, but always with crushing defeat. The first time, he was helpless, the second time he was pierced through the stomach, and the third time he was riddled with bullets from a machine gun, but he never gave up.
This unwillingness to give up cornered Tanya, but he was unable to achieve victory. However, this unyielding spirit is essential to humanity, and I'm sure you've seen many times in your own lives how it leads to success.

Anson Sue devoted herself to avenging the deaths of her comrades in battle, and she was able to close in on Tanya. As expected, Anson Sue made progress. Although he didn't achieve revenge, he certainly made progress. This unyielding determination is Anson Sue's greatest charm, and something we can learn from him.

At first glance, some may think it's natural for people to die in war, so it's wrong for a superior officer to harbor a desire for revenge over the death of a subordinate.
However, I think that shows the greatness of the man Anson Sue.
He belongs to a rank where the lives of his subordinates can be easily discarded, but I was moved by the way he regrets the death of his comrades, cries, and seeks revenge.
I hope that this message is conveyed to everyone.
