When Tanya is reincarnated in the world of Saga of Tanya the Evil, the sound of military boots is approaching.
Here, we'd like to introduce the battle situations on the Rhine Front, Norden Front, and Dacia Front, which are mainly depicted in the anime.

The Situation on the Rhine Front and the Francois Republic

Located to the west of the Empire, the Francois Republic had formed a military alliance with the Entente, but the Entente entered a state of war with the Empire.
Subsequently, the Francois Republic also entered a state of war with the Empire.
The Francois Republic has drawn a long line of war with the Empire, but for a long time it has been a stalemate.

The Empire's "Shock and Awe Strategy" to Break the Ties

As a result, the Empire devised a plan.
However, in episode 8, the former Republic city of Arena decided to expedite the operation.
This was because the partisans were destroying infrastructure and disrupting supplies to the front lines.
The partisans were suppressed, but it made it difficult for the Empire's left wing to launch a full-scale offensive.
However, Brigadier General Zettois made it possible to break through with a "shock and awe" strategy using a paradigm shift.

Operation Fog and Sun: A Deceptive Retreat

In episode 9, Operation Fog and Sun lures out the enemy with a deceptive retreat by the Empire's right wing.
The purpose of this operation was to empty the Imperial front line, which had been largely stationary for years, by forcing a large-scale Imperial retreat, giving the Republican Army confidence in victory and allowing them to advance the main forces of the Republic into their own territory.
However, the Republican Army is not incompetent.
To give them confidence in victory, they launched an attack just before the retreat that hinted at an all-out Imperial offensive.
From the Republican Army's perspective, they thought the Empire was about to launch an all-out offensive, but then they concluded that their national strength had finally run out and their soldiers had deserted the enemy.

"Operation Fog and Sun" was intended to lower the Republic Army's guard while also making it easier for Tanya's forces to attack the Republic Army headquarters.
There's one more important thing.
In episode 10, "Operation Revolving Door" involves the Imperial Army launching a rear-line attack.
The closer the front line was to Imperial territory, the longer the Republic Army's supply and communication lines would be, making it more difficult for the Empire's plans to be communicated after the headquarters was destroyed, and even if they were discovered, it would be more difficult to respond.
However, this operation could potentially result in the loss of industrial areas within their own territory.
Failure was not an option.

In episode 10, the left wing breaks through the front line with the Unlocking Strategy and the Revolving Door Strategy, cornering the Republic Army's left wing.
The Imperial Army had tanks, which were the same tanks used by Germany in Blitzkrieg during World War II.
In Saga of Tanya the Evil, technology advances rapidly, and there are scenes where weapons that would be used 30 years later appear on battlefields similar to those in World War I.
The Mark I tank, which was the first to be used in actual combat in history, was unable to keep up with infantry after an unlocking maneuver.
Tank performance improved dramatically, increasing both speed and range, making it possible to get behind infantry.

Another factor is the existence of mechanized infantry.
Even if tank performance improves, it's counterproductive if infantry can't keep up.
Tanks alone will be destroyed one by one by enemy forces, and if they need repairs, they have no choice but to be scrapped.
However, it's a different story for infantry units mounted in trucks and armored vehicles.
The Empire's technological capabilities allowed them to get to the rear of the Republic army before the chaos caused by the destruction of the Republic headquarters subsided.

The Imperial Army successfully occupies the Republic's mainland.

Although the Albion United Kingdom joins the war too late in episode 11, the Francois Republic's mainland is occupied by the Empire.

However, General de Lugo established the "Free Republic" in the Republic Navy's southern colonies.

The remnants of the United Kingdom of Albion and the Entente Alliance, as well as the United States Volunteer Army, joined forces, and the fighting in the south continued.

The Situation on the Norden Front and the Legadonia Entente

The Entente, located north of the Empire, is the nation that directly triggered the World War.
In the prologue of episode 2, Tanya was caught up in the battle, which was the first battle of the World War.

To be the sole protagonist on the battlefield! What an honor!

At the time, nationalism was on the rise within the Entente, and the government, swept up in this, declared war on the Empire.

However, the difference in military strength between the Entente and the Empire was overwhelming, and if the fighting in Norden dragged on, defeat for the Entente was inevitable.

Episode 6 takes place well after the prologue, but the Entente still retains its military strength.
Why?
If the Empire were to win, its territory would be occupied by the Empire.
Fearing the Empire's expansion, neighboring countries supported the Entente.
The fact that they had a military alliance with the Francois Republic also contributed to this.

The Empire Successfully Lands in the Fjord

However, in episode 7, the Entente Alliance was dealt the final blow.
The Empire successfully landed at a naval base in the fjord, located far behind the front lines.
However, fjords are natural naval bases.
Cannon batteries are also installed there.
The plan would only have succeeded if Tanya's troops had destroyed the batteries.
The Empire is a land-based nation and does not have that much naval power to spare.
After succeeding, they landed, and the Entente was defeated and occupied.
However, the remaining Entente forces joined forces with General de Lugo's forces of the Free Republic of François, and continued the fight against the Empire in the south.

The Situation on the Dacian Front and the Grand Duchy of Dacia

Dacia, a small country located southeast of the Empire, may have been numerous, but its equipment and tactics were completely outdated.
Believing that it might be able to invade the Empire, which controlled both the Rhine and Norden Fronts, Dacia unilaterally declared war on the Empire.
They invaded Imperial territory.
However, they were completely defeated by Tanya's battalion, and even the capital's arsenal was destroyed.
After that, Imperial ground forces occupied most of Dacia's territory.

Summary

Although the Empire achieved victory on the Rhine and Norden fronts, it is still at war with the United Kingdom, and the western power, the United States, views the Empire as a potential enemy.
Even after losing its homeland, the Francois Republic has not surrendered.
The Lucy Federation to the east is also of interest.
Tanya's mission on the front lines is far from over.
