"World's End Harem" is a work serialized on the webcomic site "Shonen Jump+," and after one postponement, the anime will begin airing in January 2022. This is the author, Yoino Kotaro's first serialization in Jump, and he has hardly published any works aimed at the general public, but the intense erotic depictions clearly deviate from the norm of boys' manga. We would like to introduce you to Yoino Kotaro, whose drawing skills are as if he had been drawing for adult magazines for many years!

A Brief Summary of "World's End Harem"
In a technologically advanced near future, medical student Reito Mizuhara confesses his feelings to his childhood friend Erika Tachibana. At the same time, he is forced into cold sleep until a cure for a disease called cellular sclerosis is discovered. Erika tells Reito that she'll always wait for him, and he falls asleep. However, when he wakes up five years later, Erika is gone. A woman named Miku Suou, who bears a striking resemblance to Erika, explains to him that most men have been wiped out by an unknown virus, that Reito is somehow resistant to the virus, and that she wants him to have children with many women in order to ensure the survival of humanity. Five men in similar situations then become embroiled in the truth behind the extinction of all men in the world and the conspiracy surrounding it.

"World's End Harem" is an adult manga disguised as a shonen manga. In fact, Kotaro Shono is a well-known figure in the adult genre. An adult manga artist is currently drawing adult manga for Shonen Jump+. Its sexual depictions are among the most outrageous in the world of boys' manga. In addition to publishing his works in adult manga magazines, he also publishes his work through the doujin group "Pannacotta."
What kind of person is "Kotaro Yoino"? He's actually a woman and married!

While some might assume his pen name suggests a man, he is in fact a married woman. His name is pronounced "Shono," not "Yoino." His editor at the time suggested he should have a masculine name, so he named him after his favorite character. However, he regretted it when both the name and gender were incorrect. He doesn't seem to mind it so much now. Kotaro is named after Kotaro, the captive, crazy little boy who appeared in "Tropical Boy Papuwa-kun" and "PAPUWA."

Are there many manga artists who started out in adult magazines and are now active in mainstream magazines? Here are some others!
Recently, it seems like there has been a significant increase in manga artists who started out in adult magazines getting their own serials for mainstream audiences or working on character design. It's also becoming increasingly common for someone else to create the original story, but then be recognized for their artistic talent and take on the role of illustrator. In fact, Kotaro Yoino isn't the only artist to do this. There are others who work under the same or different names, but I'd like to introduce some of them!
Tosh Saeki
His representative works include "Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma" and "Active Raid: Mobile Assault Division 8th Section." He is one of the first authors to be mentioned as an adult manga artist. He was responsible for the illustrations of "Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma," serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump, and his work quickly became popular due to his excellent drawing skills. His alias is "tosh."
Toru Oikawa/Tsunken
His most famous work is "Infection," serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine (currently in Magazine Pocket). Originally active in the adult genre, the content is frankly incredibly erotic, hard to believe it's a boys' magazine. There's a popular character with the same name in Haikyu!!, and searching for the author's name can be confusing, as that character comes up instead. While currently on hiatus, he works on adult content with Tsunken, a group well-known for To Love-Ru.
Yokoyari Mengo
His representative works include "Scum's Wish" and "My Favorite Child." His works are characterized by a pop art style and erotic depictions, but he originally worked on adult manga. Yokoyari Mengo is also a woman.
Summary about the Author of "World's End Harem"
We've introduced Kotaro Yoino, the illustrator of "World's End Harem." As he originally worked on adult-oriented works, "World's End Harem" is also largely adult-oriented. Because of its content, there seem to be significant obstacles to adapting it into an anime. Originally scheduled for 2021, the anime has been postponed to January 2022. Adult issues sometimes arise when the original manga is released online, so I'm excited to see how it turns out in the anime!
