With the appearance of the demons and the destruction of the empire, the battle between humans and demons is finally about to begin in The Wise Man's Grandson. I expect the Ultimate Magicians and others to become increasingly stronger, so I'd like to announce their current provisional strength rankings. I expect the rankings to fluctuate considerably as the story progresses. (At the time of writing, this was around the time of the Tripartite Conference.)

Strength Ranking: #10: Lawrence

Is Lawrence strong?

Lawrence is one of the demons whose abilities are unclear. He was originally Zest's subordinate, so he likely possesses considerable abilities, but currently, under Zest's orders, he works alongside, monitors, and incites the demons who are trying to take over the country on their own. As he is afraid of Shin's overwhelming power, he may not have the highest fighting ability among the veteran demons. He will likely have to fight the Ultimate Magicians at some point.

Strength Ranking: 9th Place: Maria von Messina

Aria Gets Punched

A member of the Ultimate Magicians, she is the only girl with no romantic involvement whatsoever. She ranked third during the entrance exam. Since then, she has steadily specialized in combat abilities and appears to be getting stronger. It's hard to say who is stronger, Tony or him, but I decided based on their entrance exam rankings. Anyway, please enjoy this article as it also serves as an introduction to the characters!

Strength Ranking: 8th Place: Diseum von Earlshide

Augus' Strength

The crown prince and a member of the Ultimate Magicians. He appears to be skilled in combat, even within the organization. He was ranked second only to Shin during the entrance exam, making him a naturally talented player. In their battle with the veteran demon, they seem to have realized once again that they are weaker than the demons. To be honest, I don't know if they're stronger than Lawrence. I look forward to seeing them grow.

Strength Ranking: 7th Place: Cain

This demon was also a former subordinate of Zest. They infiltrate Earlshide's royal castle and learn that Shin has a fiancée. Because of this, Sicily becomes the sole target of the ensuing battle, but he also appears to be skilled in both magic and swordsmanship. It seems he's only stalling for time in the battle so far. Is he truly a skilled player?!

Strength Ranking: 6th Place: Apel

Apel is on top

A demon who came to the Earlshide Kingdom with Cain. He was also a former subordinate of Zest. He attempted to enter the sage Merlin's house, but was unable to do so due to a barrier placed there. Unlike Cain, he was unable to bring back any useful information. The reason why I put Cain higher is simply because the way Apel and Cain spoke in Earlshide gave the impression that Apel was of a higher rank.

Strength Ranking: 5th Place: Dante

Zest's Strongest Subordinate

During the battle in Kurt, Dante still had plenty of room to maneuver against Messina and Aug. While Shin's magical tools maintained a balance, it seems he was only stalling for time. He seems to have great trust in Zest, and when Zest first transformed the sheep into a monster, he even showed his playful side by clapping his hands to tease him. He was probably originally like Zest's right-hand man.

Strength Ranking: 4th Place: Zest

Demon Zest

A former commander of the Empire, he was dissatisfied with the methods of the Imperial nobles, and after a certain incident, he became consumed with a desire for revenge against them. At that time, he agreed to Oliver Strom's proposal to become a demon, and became one himself. At the time, he had intended to become a demon on his own, but it seems that he agreed with Zest, who he trusted, and his subordinates also became demons. He has yet to take part in the battle with the Ultimate Magicians, so I'm looking forward to seeing his true strength. Perhaps he's actually weaker than Dante!?

Strength Ranking: 3rd Place: Sage Merlin

What the Sage Forgot

When confronted by Apel, Merlin intimidates and defeats him. Even in his old age, he remains a wise man. Apel also muttered a line that clearly reflects Merlin's strength, suggesting that he is still maintaining this level of strength. However, since we are filled with observational hope, it's possible that Aug and his friends are already stronger than we thought. No, that's probably not the case.

Strength Ranking: 2nd Place: Oliver Strom

Demons and the Empire

The boss of the demons, originally a member of the imperial nobility. He was a rare lord in the empire who wanted to make his country like Earlsheim, but he fell into a trap set by a noble from another empire, and his wife Aria was killed, turning him into a demon. At that time, he made it his goal to destroy the entire empire. Now that that goal has been achieved, he seems a little listless. He doesn't seem to be actively fighting against Shin and the others, and seems to be absorbed in his experiments to make babies.

Strength Ranking #1: Shin Walford

Shin is the protagonist of this work. He successfully defeats Oliver, but how will the story unfold from here? This work is undoubtedly an overpowered story, but it is still unclear to what extent Shin's power differs from that of the demons. Will he ever struggle in his own battle?

Strength Rankings: Final Thoughts

The strength of each character will likely change in the future. The Ultimate Magicians, in particular, will likely become increasingly powerful. Perhaps we'll see a story like Dragon Ball, where the children of demons and humans have incredibly high fighting power! I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next.
