Yuji, a tamer, is an underappreciated character, but thanks to his other job, the Sage, he has become one of the strongest characters. He primarily tames the weakest monsters, the slimes, but by skillfully using them and his Sage abilities, he boasts overwhelming strength. The main heroine of this work is a young dryad, a forest spirit. While she doesn't appear often, her cuteness and presence are enough to make her a presence! This time, we'll introduce these two characters.
Yuji Summoned from the Modern World to Another World
Yuji's original name was "Sano Yuji," and he existed in the present day. However, one day, while working on some work he had brought home, a strange window appears on his computer screen, and he suddenly finds himself in another world. Thinking it was a dream, Yuji has the terrifying thought that "if I die, I'll wake up," and tries to get a nearby slime to kill him. However, rather than attacking Yuji, the slime becomes attached to him and tames him... Yuji considers taking his new slime companion with him and hanging himself with a rope, but ultimately gives up and decides to wait until his alarm wakes him up.
Tames a large number of slimes and becomes a sage in a mysterious abandoned house
Yuji is summoned to another world as a professional tamer, but ends up taming 80 slimes in a mysterious abandoned house. The tamed slimes then all begin reading books found in the house, and through them, Yuuji learns a wealth of magic. As a result, he acquires the unusual profession of sage in addition to tamer. At this point, Yuuji's HP increases by 16 times and his MP by 30 times, even though he hasn't even fought yet.
His specialty is long-distance magic using slimes.
Yuji sometimes uses magic directly, but he primarily fights enemies using slimes. First, he strengthens the slimes with the Tamer skill "Monster Strengthening." He then uses "Sense Sharing" to confirm the enemy's appearance and location, and then uses "Magic Transfer" to transfer the magic he used to the slime, which then fires his magic at the enemy. While the slime itself isn't particularly strong, the magic it fires is powered by Yuuji's magical energy, making it extremely powerful. Furthermore, by using a large number of slimes, he can cast dozens of spells simultaneously.
Yuji is a novice when it comes to fighting with weapons
Yuji is skilled at using magical attacks with monsters, but he's a complete novice when it comes to fighting with weapons like swords and axes. He doesn't even know how to hold or attack, and his skills are so poor that people around him wonder if he's making fun of him. However, when he became a sage, he acquired the skill "Super Combat Technique," which allows his body to automatically react and perform expert-level swordplay, even though his own abilities are meager. By the way, she also possesses the ability to use axes with her "Super Combat Techniques." While not in combat, she uses them to chop down trees, chopping them down with incredible speed from a strange stance.
Dryad, Afraid of Humans, But Is She Easy to Trick?
When Dryad first appears, she is significantly weakened by a cursed magic stone created by humans. In this world, HP decreases when MP is lost, but Dryad has lost MP due to the cursed magic stone, and her HP has also been significantly reduced, suggesting that she is "just barely alive" when she is discovered. Therefore, when she first sees Yuji, she is extremely wary and hides in the shade of a tree. While reading, I was thinking, "It's going to take a while to close the gap," but when Yuji transferred his magical powers to her through the slime, the dryad's attitude changed completely. She suddenly started calling him "Yuji" and quickly became attached to him. After saving the forest, she blushed and called him her "lifesaver," showing her girlish reactions.
A Dryad Able to Teleport from Tree to Tree
The dryad is a forest spirit, and can teleport anywhere there are trees. While the range of her teleportation is somewhat limited, she can travel over a fairly wide area, even when trees are far apart. Dryads can also teleport from outside to indoor plants. Sometimes they even teleport to dead trees near volcanoes. This teleportation ability can also be used on objects other than themselves, such as when they teleport slimes to other tree locations. Regarding the relationship between dryads and slimes, they seem to be quite friendly, with slimes knowing the location of weakened dryads. (They even call them "dryads" and "slime-san").
Dryads are also skilled at making medicines.
When a dragon dies, a "nice-looking mushroom" grows near its location. It's unclear what the principles are behind their growth or why they do, but it's believed that valuable medicines can be made from these mushrooms. The dryads are the ones who make these using a special method. They create a magic recovery potion from red mushrooms, and a "magic restoration potion" from blue mushrooms, which restores magical energy to its state 10 minutes ago. Incidentally, while mushroom hunting, they move through the trees (in a lively forest, it's possible to move through the trees), and when they pop their heads out, they look like cute leaf fairies, so if there's a scene like that in the anime, it's a must-see.
The Dryad has surprisingly few appearances
So far, the Dryad has been introduced as a heroine, but she doesn't actually travel with Yuuji, and for a heroine, she has relatively few appearances. She usually lives in the forest, and when she needs help, she contacts Yuuji through a slime. From there, she teleports to Yuuji through a tree, or Yuuji heads to a tree that the Dryad can reach and meets her. Although they help each other, they do not tame the Dryad.
Yuji & Dryad Character Introduction Summary
So far, we've given you a brief introduction to Yuuji and Dryad. What do you think? Personally, I'd like to see Dryad appear more... (lol) I'm already looking forward to seeing how these two will play a role in the anime.
