"Spy Classroom" is based on a light novel and tells the story of a group of girls who are recruited as spies and team up to do great things. The original manga was a huge hit, with over one million copies in circulation during the first season. It has also become a hot topic as it is being adapted into an anime, with the second season set to air in July attracting a lot of attention. By the way, did you know that the term "selected group" appeared in the first season? This is a keyword that becomes important in the second half of the first season, and may also play an important role in the second season. In this article, we will explain what the selected group is, including a recap of the first season!

Introduction: Story Summary

Following the end of the largest world war in history, international organizations based on the principle of peace were established in various countries around the world. Reflecting on the high number of casualties, countries around the world began to believe that "war is not cost-effective." Ten years after the end of the war, a "shadow war"—an information war between spies—has been waged, rather than a light war fought with swords and bows. Meanwhile, a group of girls who had failed out at a spy training school are gathered together to form a team... What will become of them?

What is the Selected Group?

After completing their first impossible mission, Team Akari is faced with a new one. The mission involves eliminating an assassin known as "Shi." Over the past few days, there have been a series of murders of prominent politicians and others, and the culprit appears to be a person known as "Shi." Klaus initially hesitates to bring the girls along to face the dangerous assassin, but decides to do so in order to complete the mission. However, this time, only four selected members will be involved in the mission, rather than all eight members. The team members anxiously await who will be chosen, but in the end, it's Lily, Zivia, Grete, and Sara who are chosen. These four were selected as the "selected group" and assigned to work as maids in the mansion of a politician who was likely to be the next to be assassinated. Monica was clearly dissatisfied, asking, "Why wasn't I chosen?"

You might think they were the selected group, but...?

The four selected, Lily, Zibia, Grete, and Sara, wondered why they were chosen. Lily was clumsy, Zibia had high combat ability but not much intelligence, Grete was not good with men, and Sara's spying skills were very poor unless she used animals. However, as they continued to hide in the mansion, they discovered that they were not actually part of the selected group. The remaining four were the true selected group, and they accompanied Klaus to capture the corpse. Klaus sent Lily and the others to the mansion based on their personalities, traits, and backgrounds. Although they were "non-selected," it was by no means a negative reason.

The True Selected Group

Spy Classroom Season 2

The true selected group consisted of Monica, Tia, Annette, and Erna. They accompanied Klaus to capture the corpse and successfully completed their mission. The Selected Team also successfully captured their fellow zombie, Olivia, and the mission was successfully completed. While the true Selected Team's exploits weren't seen in Season 1, we'll get to see them in Season 2. This section corresponds to Volume 3 of the manga, so if you're interested, be sure to check it out.

Summary of the Selected Team

While the names "Selected Team" and "Non-Selected Team" differ, they are in no way superior or inferior, and both are essential to the mission. Klaus knew this and selected them, so he must be a very talented person (although he does have the drawback of being too genius and therefore not being able to lead them well). The highlight of Season 2 will be the Selected Team's exploits, so I'm looking forward to it! That's all for today. Thank you for reading.
