"Spy Classroom" is based on a light novel and tells the story of a group of girls who are recruited as spies and work together as a team. The original manga sold over one million copies in total during the first season, making it a huge hit, and the second season is scheduled to air in July, garnering a lot of attention. Season two will focus on characters from Team Akari's eight spies who have not had much of a chance to shine until now. This time, we'd like to introduce some of the characters who will be playing a major role in the new series!

Which volume of the original will season two start from?

Spy Classroom Season 2

The first season covered volumes 1 and 2 of the original manga, neatly condensing the two volumes into one season. The second season likely covers volumes 3 and beyond. Volume 3 introduces a character claiming to be Annette's mother, and the story surrounding her will likely be an important part of the first half of the second season. Currently, there are nine volumes of the original manga related to the main story. I expect the story will likely finish volume 4 and then finish midway through volume 5. There's plenty of material in the original, so the third and fourth seasons are certainly promising.

The Original Episodes Are Also Fascinating

The original manga is fascinating, but the original episodes from the previous anime series are also a draw. The original episodes carefully focus on each individual character. By completing missions with their teacher, Klaus, and receiving his encouragement, the members of Akari regain their confidence. There are many episodes in which you can sense the characters' emotional growth, so I hope they will continue to be depicted in the second season. Depending on the number of original episodes, they may not reach the content of Volume 5, but I feel that individual character episodes are necessary to convey the appeal of this work. Episodes not in the original manga are often criticized depending on their content, but in the case of "Spy Classroom," they are essential to deepening understanding of the story.

Monica

Monica

A 16-year-old girl with bluish silver hair. Her code name is "Koujin" and she refers to herself as "boku." She's unusually skilled as a spy, despite being a group of dropouts. Her overall abilities are undoubtedly among the best on the team. She specializes in secret photography through calculations and precise movements, but keeps her special skills a secret from her teammates. When asked why she joined the group, she claims she "deliberately slacked off at the training institute." In other words, she had the qualities to become a top-notch spy if she put her mind to it. However, she seems to have been deliberately avoiding being expelled by not getting too serious. She sometimes confuses her teammates with sarcastic remarks and sometimes goes off on her own, but these behaviors may stem from her confidence as a spy.

Tia

Tia

She is an 18-year-old black-haired girl with a very seductive aura. Her code name is "Yumegatari," and she is the oldest member of the team and plays a central role. However, she also seems to have some mental fragility. Born as the daughter of a company president, she was once kidnapped by an Imperial spy, but was saved by a female spy named "Hongro." Since then, she has admired her and aspired to become a spy herself. She lost her voice due to the shock of the kidnapping incident, but regained it by imitating Beniro's speaking style. She excels at negotiation and can tell what someone wants by looking them in the eye. Using this technique, she has successfully extracted various information. At training school, she overused this ability and received an unfair grade drop.

Annette

Annette

A pink-haired girl with an eyepatch over her left eye. She refers to herself as "oresama" ("I am my boss") and her code name is "Mōga" ("Bōga"). Among the members of Akari, Annette is particularly mysterious regarding her origins; she has amnesia and her birthplace is unknown. Her exact age is unknown, but documents state she is 14 years old. She is skilled at making weapons and bombs, and is able to create tools that surpass the technology of the country. She loves to play pranks, often behaves unpredictably, and her thoughts are hard to read. In reality, she is a selfish person who often acts on her emotions and sometimes resorts to brutal methods. She was abandoned shortly after birth, but was picked up by a woman named Matilda. However, Matilda gradually began to feel uneasy about Annette, and Annette abused and abandoned her. As a result of the abuse, she has lost her memory. I'm sure the episodes featuring Matilda will be featured in the second season, so I'm looking forward to it! Incidentally, her leader Klaus highly praises her ruthlessness. In fact, I think it's a necessary element to survive as a spy.

Erna

She is a 14-year-old blonde girl with a mysterious aura. Her codename is "Fool," and she speaks with a distinctive tone. Feeling guilty about being the only survivor of a fire as a child, she unconsciously seeks punishment for herself. As a result, she has developed a unique constitution that allows her to attract misfortune to herself. She can sense disaster in advance, which allows her to use this to defeat the enemy. In one mission, she intentionally minimizes her presence to deceive the enemy, and this strategy proves successful. While he was present in the anime adaptation from the first episode, efforts were made to minimize his presence, such as by not appearing on screen.

Character Summary

The new series will focus on characters other than those featured in the first season, so you'll enjoy it as if you were watching a brand new show. Other members of the Akari team will also appear, so you'll definitely enjoy seeing all of them in action. If you can't wait until the series airs, I highly recommend reading the original manga! That's all for today. Thank you for reading.
