The second season of "Komi-san wa, Komyushou desu." was announced fairly early on after the first season finished airing, making it one of the most anticipated spring anime. The first season progressed the story very carefully, and the anime covered roughly the contents of about volume 5 of the manga. However, the content was very rich and interesting, so I was very satisfied with the result! With the second season of Komi-san due to air soon, I would like to introduce some of the notable new characters that will likely appear in the second season!

Featured Character #1: Makoto Katai

Makoto Katai

He's a blond, intimidating, and well-built boy who looks like a delinquent, but in reality, he's more sensitive and kind-hearted than Komi-san. He was originally a classmate in class 1-1, but after a week of school due to a cold, he found it difficult to attend school after that, so he started attending school in the second semester. To avoid being underestimated, he trained hard and dyed his hair, giving him an intimidating appearance that makes him seem like a tough delinquent feared by those around him.

But that's a complete misunderstanding. He becomes friends with Tadano, who excels at spotting social anxiety, and respects Komi, who also suffers from social anxiety, calling her "Master."

Featured Character #2: Naruse Shimorito

Naruse Shimorito

A highly narcissistic male student who sees himself as the handsome protagonist. He listens to Western music and casually shows off his handsomeness through gestures, but no one really notices him. Perhaps because of this, he had no friends when he first appeared. He recognizes Komi's social anxiety and believes he is the perfect match for her, but due to interference from his classmates, he has yet to make contact. His fearless personality and strong mentality allow him to converse normally with Katai-kun, who is perceived as a delinquent.

Featured Character #3: Tadataka Yonetani

Tadataka Yonetani

He appears alongside Naruse-kun as a narrator-like figure who breaks the fourth wall. He often comments on Naruse's eccentric behavior. As a character who is close to the reader's perspective, the frequent commentary may be the work of Yonetani. He notices Komi's social anxiety and perfectly predicts Naruse's feelings, but he doesn't take any action himself.

Featured Character #4: Kato Sankuji

Kato Sankuji

One of Komi's classmates who was drawn to choose her group for the school trip. Having never interacted with Komi before, he and fellow group member Sasaki band together under the pretext of ensuring Komi's enjoyment on the trip. His family is extremely wealthy, and influenced by his grandfather, a professional shogi player, he aspires to become a professional shogi player. He seems to like tough characters and is interested in Katai.

Featured Character #5: Ayami Sasaki

Ayami Sasaki

One of Komi's classmates who was chosen by lottery to decide groups for the school trip. She's skilled with yo-yos and possesses world-class performance skills. However, she seems embarrassed about using them and desperately tries to hide it. However, she later comes out and plans to become the world-famous performer "Y.Y. Hannya" in the future.

Featured Character #6: Onigashima Akeko

Onigashima Akeko

One of Yamai's cool girls. Although she appeared in the first season, she was treated as a minor character whose name was never mentioned. She's cute, cheerful, and kind to everyone, so much so that she even ranked first in the "Childhood Friends I Wanted" ranking. However, when she gets angry, she's unpredictable, so it's best to leave her alone. Apparently, her only ways of relieving stress are eating, bathing, going to the batting cage, and sleeping.

Featured Character #7: Sato Amami

Sato Amami

A female student who sits to Komi's left. She voluntarily comes to school first thing every morning to clean, and generally never turns down requests. Her kind nature makes Ushijida and Maeda, who sit nearby and are in the same Social and Ethnic Studies Club, worry about her.

Featured Character #8: Niimi Hideko/Komi Hideko

Niimi Hideko

Komi's mother also appeared in the first season. However, in the second season, Komi's mother appears as a 17-year-old. At the time, she was a rough, uncool, and nasty delinquent schoolgirl, but she finds herself falling for Shoga (Komi's dad), who sits next to her, and while she wonders what's up with him, she inadvertently falls for him. Back then, her cooking was haphazard, with Shoga being better than her, but now she's a perfect cook.

Featured Character #9: Manbagi Rumiko

Manbagi Rumiko

A makeup-wearing, manba girl who sits next to Komi in her second year. She shares Komi's social anxiety, and all of her close friends from her first year ended up in different classes. Her unapproachable makeup made it difficult for her to fit in. The stress caused her to fall ill during class, and Tadano and Komi rushed her to the nurse's office. However, she confessed her feelings to Komi, and they became Komi's first friends in her second year. Although he and Komi-san seem to live in different worlds, they become close enough to be considered best friends during their second year. His beauty without makeup astounds his classmates.

Featured Character #10: Shosuke Komi

Shosuke Komi

Komi-san's younger brother. A quiet, handsome man who made a brief appearance in Season 1, he appears in Season 2 in an episode about Komi-san's high school entrance exams. Unlike Komi-san, he isn't socially awkward and is able to communicate when necessary, making him "someone who doesn't need communication." He enrolls at Takazai High School and immediately becomes the envy of those around him. For some reason, she ends up sitting next to Tadano's younger sister, Hitomi, in class, and she thinks she's a total weirdo.

Featured Character #11: Tadano Hitomi

Tadano Hitomi

Tadano's talented younger sister. She appeared in Season 1, but in Season 2, she appears in the high school entrance episode. For some reason, she goes to the same school as Komi's younger brother, Shosuke, and they sit next to each other in the same class, creating a similar relationship to the older sister and older brother. However, unlike Tadano, she is no ordinary girl. She is a talented younger sister with excellent athletic ability and various special skills. Even though Shosuke doesn't want to, she helps him fit in with the class.
