Komi-san wa, Komyushou desu. is a series serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday that was broadcast as an anime in the fall of 2021 and became a huge hit, with a second season set to air early in April 2022! The first season was extremely well-made, taking the good points of the original and making them even more interesting, and the characters were portrayed in a charming way, so it's a series that has high expectations. With the second season now airing, we've taken a look back at what aired in the first season. In this first part, we'll be looking back at episodes 1 to 6!

Now, Tadano-kun was being subjected to jealousy and murderous intent not only from his class but from the entire school. His peaceful high school life was instantly shattered. Most of his classmates ended up looking like Conan's criminals.
Episode 1, Part 3
Komi-san is always quiet and expressionless, a cool beauty, and a girl beyond anyone's reach. But one day, Tadano-kun points out that she might be bad at communicating. Hearing this, Komi-san becomes incredibly upset. Tadano-kun's remark is spot on. But even though Komi-san has social anxiety, it doesn't mean she doesn't want to communicate.
Episode 1, Part 4
She wants to talk, but she can't. She wants friends, but she can't make them. She can't even get started. When Tadano confides in Komi about her troubles, he helps her achieve her goal of making 100 friends and becomes her first friend. Tadano decides to help Komi-san make friends, and approaches Yamai-san, a member of a group of hot girls. However, to Yamai, who is a devotee of Komi-san, Tadano-san, who sits next to her, is her sworn enemy. His wickedness breaks Tadano-san's heart. So, reluctantly, Tadano-san approaches a certain person. That person turns out to be Tadano-san's middle school classmate, Nagana Najimi.

Onaname Najimi, the ultimate social monster and self-proclaimed childhood friend of every student in the school, is in some ways the polar opposite of Komi-san. However, Najimi dressed like a boy in middle school, but started wearing girls' clothes in high school. Her gender is unclear, and she's carefree and careless. Because of her social skills, she's the one who knows Tadano-kun's dark past. That's why Tadano hesitated to talk to her...
Episode 2, Part 3
Tadano asks Najimi to be Komi-san's friend, but she says no. The reason is that Najimi is the only person he's tried to befriend but failed. However, Tadano persuades them to go home together, but Komi-san's social anxiety explodes, and a hellish battle ensues, with both of them trembling at each other. Then, Najimi's childhood friend barges in and begins forcing herself on Najimi.
Episode 2, Part 4
Komi's friend Najimi takes advantage of their friendship to make her order some incredibly complicated dishes. Najimi's plan is to help Komi overcome her social anxiety, but she's actually doing it half for fun. Komi does her best for her friend, and Tadano follows her out of concern. Will Komi be able to order the complicated and bizarre menu items at the coffee shop?
Episode 3: "I'm Stage Frightened" and more
Himiko Uesato, a classmate, is extremely stage frightened and becomes so nervous in public that she can't speak. However, Komi-san keeps an eye on her. To Uesato-san, Komi-san is capable of anything, has a perfect personality, and is flawless, making her nervous just being near her. But why does Komi-san follow Uesato-san around? It's because Najimi, a social monster, recommended Uesato-san, who also suffers from stage fright, as a potential friend.
Episode 3 Part 2
Komi-san finally buys a cell phone. Sadly, she's never needed one before. She wants her friends' addresses, so she goes to Najimi and Kamizato-san to ask, but for some reason, Komi hands them a piece of paper. Tadano-kun doesn't understand her intentions...
Episode 3, Part 3
When the class committee is decided, Komi-san is nominated for class representative, putting her in a dire situation. Her classmates get excited, regardless of her own wishes. Najimi then comes to her rescue, but things take an unexpected turn... When Najimi says, "Komi-san doesn't have the makings of a class representative," Komi-san becomes something more than just a class representative. Tadano-kun is forced to take on the role of class representative.
Episode 3, Part 4
Komi-san buys a new cell phone and starts fiddling around with it. Since she only has a few registered numbers and can only set the phone to ring, she pretends to call Tadano-kun. However, because she's not familiar with the phone's functions, she accidentally calls Tadano-kun, causing Komi-san to panic.
Episode 3, Part 5
Komi-san, seeing her classmates having fun during lunch break, wants to try it out. Tadano-kun senses this and suggests they invite Kamisato-san and Najimi over after school to do it quietly. Najimi, overhearing this, makes a nasty face and leads Komi-san to join the group of cool, upbeat career men. Najimi then gets carried away and suggests a punishment game, further upsetting the situation.
Episode 4: "Physical Examination" and More
It's physical examination day. A female student casts an extraordinary gaze at Komi-san. Her name is Yadano Makeru. Yadano, a competitive person who hates to lose, views Komi-san as a rival and wants to beat her in the examination items. Believing that she can prove her worth by beating Komi-san, the class's absolute goddess, Yadano challenges her to a four-item competition (without Komi-san's knowledge)

Phenomenon: Yamai Ren, an ordinary high school girl, was in love. She had a crush on her classmate Komi-san, and would chase her around, collecting her hair. She would even turn on anyone who got in her way, even physically eliminating them. This ordinary high school girl, Yamai, would approach a familiar who was getting too close to Komi-san, and pressure him to act as a go-between for her.
Episode 4, Part 3
Meanwhile, Tadano-kun is tied to a chair and held captive in a strange room. The room is a strange space filled with photos of Komi-san. It turns out to be Yamai-san's room, and it was Yamai-san who kidnapped Tadano-kun. Then Najimi and Komi-san come over to visit, and Tadano-kun is forced into the closet. Episode 5: "Summer Clothes" and More
It's the season for changing clothes. Komi's classmates are thrilled with her summer clothes, but Komi's reaction is so positive that it makes her feel uneasy. The season for changing clothes has arrived. And the physical fitness test is also upon us. Eager to get revenge on Komi, Yadano competes against her in the physical fitness test. However, despite coming close in certain events, she loses every single match. Will Yadano be able to get revenge on Komi?

When Najimi suddenly says she wants to hang out at Komi's house, Tadano and Najimi end up going there. Komi's mother looks just like her, but her personality is the complete opposite: extremely friendly, much to Tadano and Najimi's confusion. The usual trio decide to go for ramen near the station. Kamizato joins them, and they end up at a Jiro-style restaurant famous for its mysterious spell. Kamizato's hobby is eating out, and he has an extraordinary obsession with ramen in particular. However, Tadano and Najimi are overwhelmed by the unique rules of the Jiro-style ramen. As for Komi...
Episode 5, Part 4
Naka-chan, a classmate, is a chuunibyou girl with a slightly strange way of speaking and behaving. She calls Komi-san Princess Komilia and talks about a blood pact or something. It seems she wants to become friends with Komi-san, but seeing her like that brings back bitter memories for Tadano-kun, who was once a chuunibyou himself. Episode 6: "It's a Gag" and More
One day, Komi-san trembles as she hands Tadano-kun a letter. Inside is the mysterious phrase, "My futon is futon." It seems that Komi-san, influenced by television, wanted to master gags for communication purposes. As a result, Tadano-kun ends up performing a gag.

Tadano-kun, Najimi, Kamisato-san, and Komi-san decide to go clothes shopping together. Yamai-san, who had been overhearing the conversation, ambushes the group at the shopping center, and the five of them end up choosing clothes together. Episode 6, Part 5
Tadano and his friends arrive at the library to study for a test, only to be confronted by the library's guardian, Ringorimi-senpai. Ringorimi-senpai hurls a swastika at anyone who makes noise in the library, forcing them out after three innings. Under such watchful eye, Najimi, who just wants to have fun, starts a game of chicken to see who can keep their distance. Will they be able to pass the upcoming test if they keep doing that?

Tests are over and summer vacation has begun. Feeling anxious about not having anyone to hang out with, Komi-san musters up the courage to contact Tadano-kun, but she can't press the call button. Tadano-kun himself is in a similar situation to Komi-san. Still, Komi-san manages to contact Tadano-kun, but he's on the phone. However, he receives a call shortly after.
