Kakegurui is a school gambling story that has been serialized in Monthly Gangan Joker since 2014 and was adapted into an anime in 2017. The characters that appear are so unique they can be described as "super"! Today, we'll be introducing our top 10 recommended characters in a ranked format, so please take a look!
10th Place: Ryota Suzui (CV: Tatsuya Tokutake)
Suzui-kun, the conscience of "Kakegurui," comes in at 10th place. He's a truly holy character, and the only normal character in the series! (lol) He has been looking out for Yumeko since the first day she transferred to the school, and although he doesn't have much talent for gambling, he is a good understanding friend of Yumeko and Meari, supporting them from behind the scenes. However, the world of Kakegurui, full of impactful and crazy characters, is so ordinary that it's quite dull, so it's ranked 10th (lol).
9th Place: Yomotsuki Luna (CV: Udono Mayu)
The Student Council Election Commissioner, always wearing a hoodie like Umaru-chan's, is a mysterious character who always appears at key points, making meaningful statements as if he has all the knowledge, and treating the Student Council President as if they are on an equal footing. Despite his cute appearance, he casually speaks cold-hearted words, making his thoughts difficult to read. His strong character presence is similar to that of Shen Gongbao in the early stages of "Engi no Yanyi."
8th Place: Nishinotoin Yuriko (CV: Nanami Karin)
A woman with narrow eyes and traditional Japanese clothing who serves as a student council member and president of the Traditional Culture Research Society. When she first appeared, she overwhelmed Meari and gave off the impression of being a strong character, but after essentially losing her match against Yumeko (though the chairman cheated to save her, so she didn't actually lose), she hasn't had many notable appearances since, and has become what you might call a throwing character, occasionally making weak remarks... Let's look forward to seeing what she does in the future.
7th Place: Sumeragi Itsuki (CV: Yuki Wakai)
Former student council member. He appears as a formidable opponent to Yumeko early on, with a craziness befitting the story, such as stripping the loser of their fingernails as payment for a bet, but he is completely defeated by Yumeko when she gets serious, and is fired from the student council. Although she disappeared for a while after that, she successfully switched sides to Yumeko's camp in the latter half of the anime, earning her a spot in the ranks. What a hard-working girl! (lol)
6th Place: Midari Ikishima (CV: Mariya Ise)
She is one of the craziest characters in the series, and Yumeko calls her "just someone who wants to die." Despite losing an eye in a gambling match with the chairman, she has never forgotten the excitement of that experience. She's a weirdo (and that's a compliment) who always derives pleasure from pushing herself to the brink of death. She even angered Yumeko by intentionally trying to lose in matches. However, when Yumeko humiliates her, she begins to feel pleasure from it and becomes a semi-stalker of Yumeko (lol).
5th Place: Sayaka Igarashi (CV: Ayaka Fukuhara)
Sayaka is the student council secretary and the president's favorite. She is usually calm, collected, and intelligent, a perfect woman who manages meetings and acts as secretary, but when it comes to the chairman she becomes so agitated that she loses her temper, she obeys the chairman's orders, and if the chairman tells her to die then she will die, making her a crazy psychopath who puts the chairman first above all else... For all these reasons, she has extraordinary feelings for Yumeko, who is the chairman's favorite.
4th Place: Momobami Kirari (CV: Miyuki Sawashiro)
The 105th student council president of Hyakkaou Private Academy, she is currently the only person considered to be on equal or even superior to Yumeko. Although she looks like a Western noblewoman, her thoughts are in some ways even crazier than Mō, and she has a more curious personality than Yumeko. She has an almost obsessive interest in things she has never seen, such as gouging out Mō's eyes after he lost a bet saying he wanted to see the dark side of the moon, and saying she would like to see a supernova explosion.
3rd Place: Yumemite Yumemi (voiced by Yu Serizawa)
The student council spokesperson and school idol. She's so popular that she even has a fan club at school. However, behind the scenes, she washes her hands vigorously after handshake events and yells harsh and insulting comments at fans. After losing a challenge to Yumeko, a recording of her insults was made public to fans, but she seems to have changed her mind after an enthusiastic fan said they would still support Yumemi. She is working hard to become a great actress in the future and is pursuing her dream.
2nd Place: Jabami Yumeko (voiced by Hayami Saori)
What? 2nd place? Are you kidding me? Am I going to die? Apologies to anyone who thought that (lol), but as has been mentioned many times in the descriptions of other characters, the main character, Yumeko, is an unrivaled gambling addict and an extremely strong character. She's extremely skilled in everything from quick thinking to insight, and yet she's also kind and cute - it's hard to find anything bad about her. If I had to say something, it would be that she's just too crazy about gambling, but that's already an advantage. I'm looking forward to seeing her continue to unfold her most heinous and crazy gambling adventures.
1st Place: Saotome Meari (voiced by Minami Tanaka)
When she first appeared, she made a very unfortunate impression. She challenged Yumeko to a fight, provoked her, and then made a face and got beaten down. She then became a slave and was reduced to a punching bag. However, her status skyrocketed when she teamed up with Yumeko at the Debt Settlement Rally! Her appearances increased dramatically from then on, and she was reborn as a cool, cute character with a strong sense of justice, seemingly unlike her original character. Before we knew it, she and Yumeko had become perfect partners, respecting each other, and her occasional tsundere side was amazing. Her contrast with her first appearance was too much for her, so Mary took first place!
