Hinamatsuri is a story written by Otake Masao and has been serialized in Harta since 2010. It was long-awaited and made into an anime in April 2018. It is a sci-fi comedy that depicts the hectic daily lives of an intellectual yakuza and a psychic girl who suddenly appears in his house one day, and is sometimes tearful. In this article, we'll introduce the charm of Hina, the main character of Hinamatsuri!
A Brief Summary of Hinamatsuri
One day, while Nitta, an intellectual yakuza, was at home auctioning and browsing his hobby pots, a mysterious object fell on his head. Inside the object was a mysterious girl. Thinking it was a mistake, Nitta left it for a day, but by morning the object hadn't disappeared. Nitta finally spoke to the girl and freed her from the mysterious suit. It turned out she had psychic powers, and they ended up living together. Thus began Nitta and Hina's hectic life together.
Hina's Charm #1: Her Adorable Appearance
Her appearance is that of a completely ordinary, adorable young lady. Although she's supposed to be a middle school student, she looks more like an elementary school student. Her appearance isn't particularly distinctive, but perhaps that's what makes her simple and cute.
Hina's Charm #2: Freedom
Perhaps because she lacks common sense, she's quite free-spirited. She basically spends her days sleeping, eating, and lazing around. It seems like a flaw rather than a charm, but as the saying goes, the worse a chick is, and the people around her won't leave her alone, so starting out as a bad kid makes it easier to see her grow, and it's a great charm.
Hina's Charm #3: Expressionlessness
Hina's generally expressionless nature, rarely showing anger, impatience, or laughter, is one of the humorous parts of the series. That's why when she occasionally pulls back or laughs, it has such a big impact that it can make you laugh or cry. Nice Noh mask.
Hina's Charm #4: Growing Up
It's not about her appearance; the only thing that changes is the length of her hair (lol). Of course, her growth is internal, and it's a result of the efforts of Nitta and those around her. However, even the free-spirited and self-centered Hina gradually learns common sense and there are many scenes that make you realize how much she's grown, and that growth is also one of Hina's charms.
Hina's Charm #5: She's Inexplicably Popular
Hina is extremely popular with adults, including the boss of the Nitta gang and Utako, and the boss in particular treats her like a grandson. Hitomi and Anzu are also very concerned about Hina, and the reason she's so well-liked by those around her is probably because she's so free-spirited and straightforward.
Hina's Charm #6: Her Attitude Toward Nitta
In the beginning, she reigns terror-like, using her psychic powers to intimidate Nitta into doing what she says. However, as they spend more time together, she begins to listen to what Nitta has to say, tries to appease him, tries to help him in some way (though most of the time it ends up being unnecessary), and even runs away because she doesn't want to be scolded by Nitta. It's a nice touch that she increasingly recognizes Nitta as a parental figure.
Hina's Charm #7: Fashion
She often wears clothes with mysterious writing on them, reminiscent of Yui from K-On!. They say things like MUSASHI and BOKOSUKA, which are probably just Nitta's tastes, but I wonder what they say this time? I was really looking forward to it, but now I'm being led around by her hand, which makes me feel a little frustrated (lol). Hina, you should take a bit more interest in fashion.
A complete summary of Hina's charms!
Hina is perhaps best described as free-spirited, but it's precisely because of this that she's so well-liked, and her small moments of growth are so moving. Depending on how you look at her, she may seem like an absolute wreck, but that's also part of her charm. I hope she continues to live her life with a balance of trashiness and sometimes being touched. If you haven't seen Hina's trashiness yet, be sure to check out Hinamatsuri.
