Hinamatsuri is a story written by Otake Masao and has been serialized in Harta since 2010. It was long-awaited and made into an anime in April 2018. It is a sci-fi comedy that depicts the hectic daily lives of an intellectual yakuza and a psychic girl who suddenly appears in his house one day, and is sometimes tearful. In this article, I'd like to introduce the charms of Anzu, one of my personal favorites!

First, a quick introduction to the contents of Hinamatsuri

One day, while the intellectual yakuza Nitta was at home auctioning and browsing his hobby pots, a mysterious object fell on his head. Inside was a mysterious girl. Nitta dismissed the object for a day, assuming it was a mistake, but by morning the object hadn't disappeared. With determination, Nitta talks to the girl and frees her from the mysterious suit, but it turns out she has psychic powers and they end up living together. And so begins a hectic life for Nitta, Hina, and many other people.

Anzu is an assassin sent by an organization from the future to eliminate Hina. While searching for Hina, he wiped out a biker gang and stole their clothes, so he wears them, giving her a strong image of a kamikaze uniform. When she was defeated by Hina in a game of Rock-Paper-Scissors, she graciously admitted defeat and tried to leave, but the device that would take her back to the future was broken, so she was unable to go back. While struggling to make ends meet, she met a homeless man named Ya-san and ended up living as a homeless person herself.

Anzu's charm point 1: She's cute!

This is a huge, irresistible charm. She's adorable whether she's wearing her kamikaze uniform, shoplifting and running away, crying, or laughing. The other characters are naturally cute, but Anzu has many bonus points that add up to a significant amount of cuteness, making her look even cuter. This is purely my personal opinion, but she's the cutest in Hinamatsuri.

Anzu's Charm #2: She's Such a Good Girl

When she first appeared, she was known for her bad behavior, destroying biker gangs, dine-and-dash, and shoplifting. However, after she discovered the common sense and humanity she'd developed while living as a homeless person, she grew into a truly good girl. She's such a good girl that she can burst into tears for someone else. She's very sensitive about friends, and was very happy when she became friends with Hitomi.

Anzu's Charm #3: A Slight Tsundere

She's not exactly a tsundere, but when she's trying to act tough while actually wanting to play with Hina, her true feelings are revealed with a shy look on her face, which is very cute. She tends to be rather tsundere towards Hina, but seems innocent towards other girls.

Anzu's Charm #4: Smile

Anzu's smile is truly beautiful. The smile she shows to the homeless, the smile she shows to the couple who adopted her, and the smile she shows while playing with Hina. All of these smiles are genuine, and they truly reflect Anzu's good personality. I think that smile truly makes you want to protect her.

Anzu's Charm #5: Personality

At first, she was still inexperienced and a bit of a wild personality, but after experiencing many different things, she has now become a kind, caring, and wonderful child. Maybe it's because she was a good girl at heart, but I think she stands out as the purest character in the series. Hitomi is pretty good, but she's not as good as Anzu (this is my opinion).

Anzu's Charm #6: Toughness

Although still only a junior high school student, she found herself living the harsh life of homelessness. However, thanks to the kind people she met, she continues to live each day to the fullest. While she seemed to struggle with this at first, as she made progress, she became completely uncomplaining and able to live life to the fullest. There's much to be learned from her example.

Anzu's Charm #7: She's Able to Set Aside Her Pride

She's willing to bow her head, even if it's humiliating, to protect someone who's done so much for her. While many people might do this for their own selfish gain, it's truly admirable that she's willing to do so for others, even if it means little to her. I need to learn from her example (lol)

Anzu's Charm #8: Her Unfortunate Constitution

Considering her history of becoming homeless, being easily abandoned by organizations, and frequently getting into trouble, it could be said that she has a rather unfortunate constitution. However, her determination to move forward is admirable, and it's precisely because of these experiences that Anzu grows, so I hope she continues to work hard and overcome challenges.

Anzu's Charm #9: Never Forgetting to Be Thankful

Even after the homeless park was demolished and everyone was separated, Hina was always worried about everyone else, feeling guilty about being the only one who was adopted and living a comfortable life. She also volunteered to help out even when the couple who adopted her didn't ask. She's a truly brave girl. Even Nitta was amazed by her bravery, and even wished she could swap Hina and Anzu.

Anzu's Charm #10: Tears

She often cries, but mostly for someone other than herself. She sheds tears for those who have helped her. Even though Hinamatsuri is a comedy anime, tears are inevitable when such scenes appear. Sad tears are also a wonderful charm that helps Anzu grow.

I was homeless for a long time, so I only earned around 600 yen a day. So when I see an amount like 800 yen, I can't help but calculate how many cups of instant ramen I could buy with it. When I see something over a few thousand yen, my eyes start to wander. Even her modest appearance is very cute.

[Hinamatsuri] Anzu's Charms!

Hinamatsuri has many good people, but also some scumbags. Among them, Anzu is exceptionally cute and kind. To borrow a cliché, perhaps she's an angel? Or maybe an archangel? Anzu may not have had a blessed life, but she was blessed with many encounters with people, and Anzu herself makes those she meets happy, so she's truly a wonderful girl. If you don't think I'm lying, please watch the film now, because I'm sure after that you'll call Anzu an angel (lol). So, thank you for reading to the end!
