Hinamatsuri is a story written by Otake Masao and has been serialized in Harta since 2010. It was long-awaited and made into an anime in April 2018. It is a sci-fi comedy that depicts the hectic daily lives of an intellectual yakuza and a psychic girl who suddenly appears in his house one day, and is sometimes filled with tears. Today we'll introduce you to Nitta, who acts as a father figure to Hinamatsuri!
A Brief Summary of Hinamatsuri
One day, while the intellectual yakuza Nitta was at home auctioning and browsing his hobby pots, a mysterious object fell on his head. Inside was a mysterious girl. Nitta dismissed the object for a day, assuming it was a mistake, but by morning the object hadn't disappeared. With determination, Nitta speaks to the girl and frees her from the mysterious suit, but it turns out she has psychic powers and they end up living together. And so begins Nitta and Hina's hectic days.
Nitta's Charm #1: Kindness
He looks like a self-employed man with a tough, burly appearance, but he takes care of Hina, who shows up unexpectedly, and is generally kind to her friends and his own underlings. He is a thoughtful person who lends a hand when he sees someone in trouble and rewards them when they do something good. Well, as for Hina, she was kind of being blackmailed at first (lol).
Nitta's Charm #2: Masculinity
Because of his profession, there are times when he is faced with dangerous or unreasonable work, but even in those times, he never relies on Hina for help and always tries to solve problems on his own. Despite his manly nature, he can be a bit sloppy with women, but when it's time to make a decision, he's decisive (although it almost never works out), which is also a very manly trait.
Nitta's Charm #3: Domesticity
Contrary to his appearance, he has excellent domestic skills, which is a cute surprise. He can cook and clean, so you could almost call him a full-time househusband. His mother and sister at home were messy and often did the housework, so he seems to have acquired good housekeeping skills, and those skills are being put to good use in his life with Hina.
Nitta's Charm #4: He's Educable
At first, Nitta is often bowing down to Hina's strength, but as the story progresses, the power dynamic shifts to one of Nitta as parent and Hina as daughter. Despite this, Nitta's parental education succeeds in instilling a minimum level of common sense into the otherwise unruly Hina. Scolding people for what's wrong and praising them for what's right may seem like obvious steps, but they're actually quite difficult.
Nitta's Charm #5: Wealth
As you'd expect from an intellectual yakuza, he seems to be quite intelligent and even owns his own company. He seems to be around 36 years old, but seems to earn enough to live quite lavishly, which is quite enviable. Perhaps that's why he can turn a blind eye to Hina's actions; he has enough money to give Anzu around 40,000 yen as a light pocket money.
Nitta's Charm #6: No Matter What
I'm not entirely sure about this, but I think Nitta likes Hina as a daughter, no matter what. When Hina tries to do something for him, he's grateful even if it's a big favor, and when she said she was leaving he tried his best to create some final memories for her (although they did have a celebration for her leaving afterwards lol). No matter how much trouble he always gets into, he never abandons Hina, so I guess it's because of what's going on, Hina seems to be aware of that and respects Nitta, so they have a wonderful relationship.
A summary of Nitta's charms!
To sum up, he's a great father (lol). He's kind, strict, and also takes jokes. Plus, he's good at housework and has a lot of money, so I think he's the best. The relationship between Nitta and Hina becomes more interesting as the story progresses, and is sometimes touching, so it's a must-see. If you haven't seen Hinamatsuri yet, be sure to check out Nitta and use him as a reference for your ideal father (lol).
