The first season of the arcade romantic comedy series High Score Girl, based on '90s arcade games, was well-received, and a second season is already scheduled. We'd like to introduce Nikotama-chan, also known as Futakotamagawa Felicia, the female fighting game player who appeared in the OVA following the first season and acts as a mentor to Hidaka Koharu!

[High Score Girl II] Who is Nikotama-chan, also known as Futakotamagawa Felicia?

Nicotama-chan appears

While Hidaka is training at the arcade, a woman dressed in Gothic Lolita fashion appears before him. Her age is unknown, but she appears to be around college age. She's a Felicia player who Hidaka couldn't match in Vampire, which is where her name comes from. Sensing something special about Hidaka, she invites him to a competitive fighting game meetup and acts as a mentor to him, teaching him the ins and outs of fighting games. She goes by the nickname Nikotama-chan.

What's Felicia like in Vampire?

Felicia in Vampire

Catwoman, a character from the Vampire series. While she's a sexy character who often wears revealing clothing, she's also the most decent and kindhearted of the Darkstalkers, a group full of strange characters. Her character's abilities are convincing to her opponents with her conventional movements and mobility, but she seems to lack the ability to wreak havoc.

[High Score Girl II] Hardcore Fighting Game Player Futakotamagawa Felicia

Koharu's Master? Nikotama-chan

She hates unfair traps like Phobos' confuse, but at the same time, she also shares the mindset of a hardcore player, believing that traps are a given and that the person being trapped is at fault. She imparts advanced fighting game knowledge to Hidaka, such as frame counts and diagrams.

Welcome to Night Gaming

Nicotama invites Hidaka to play night gaming

His father runs a game shop, and through his arrangement, he hosts competitive gaming events for serious gamers after closing time. Hidaka was invited to these events, and by playing against the serious gamers, he was able to train hard to prepare for his challenge against Haruo.

[High Score Girl II] Multiplayer Futakotamagawa Felicia

Explanatory Nicotama-chan

Nikotama-chan has the skills to overwhelm Hidaka, but she also seems to be a very skilled multiplayer when it comes to fighting games. She also has extensive knowledge of other fighting games, and in Samurai Spirits, she volunteered to be Haruo's virtual enemy, using Haruo's favorite character, Shiranui Gen'an, to thoroughly counter the character. As a result, it seems that Hidaka contributed to the Samurai Spirits victory.

[High Score Girl II] Futakotamagawa Felicia is the most sensible person!?

Sensible Nikotama-chan

Unlike the other hardcore fans, who are mentally immature and get mean to Haruo out of anger at Hidaka for trampling on their feelings, Nikotama is a sensible person who behaves like an adult, scolding Hidaka for his cold attitude. Her gothic lolita fashion makes her look sensible, but inside she is one of the rare people in the series who has common sense. She may look flashy and unsensible on the outside, but inside she is the most sensible person, just like Felicia the vampire.

The Leader of the Mizonokuchi Group

Nicotama comforts Hidaka

He's the central figure of the Mizonokuchi Group. He tells Hidaka, after he loses a match, "Your disappointment is proof that you truly love the game," and he scolds the hardcore players who bully Haruo's Bishamon by only using pylons.

Explanatory Character?

Explanatory Character Nikotama-chan

One reason she seems like a sensible person is that she also acts as an explanatory character, explaining fighting game knowledge and the gameplay to viewers and readers. She explained the details of the match between Haruo and Hidaka in detail. If Miyao is the explanatory character for romance in High Score Girl, then you could say that she's the explanatory character for fighting games.

[High Score Girl II] Futakotamagawa Felicia Summary

Futakotamagawa Felicia is a gothic lolita older sister who is like a mentor to Hidaka and a central figure in the Mizonokuchi group. She already appeared in the OVA released after the first season ended, but we're sure she'll make another appearance in the second season. We're excited to see her!
