Haruo is forced to write a letter of apology for going to the arcade. Hidaka, on duty that day, waits for Haruo to leave the classroom, but Haruo, of all people, pulls out his PC Engine GT and starts playing Street Fighter II. In the end, Haruo leaves school without writing the letter of apology, but because he wasted time, Hidaka ends up having to walk home in a raging snowstorm. On his way home, Haruo stops Hidaka and they decide to take refuge in a candy store/arcade.
The Bottomless Woman
So Hidaka plays a game for the first time. Despite playing a typical gacha game, Haruo is surprised by Hidaka's unfathomable abilities, such as unleashing a Screw Piledriver. However, they end up having a great time, and from this point on, Hidaka begins to become interested in Haruo. This is the scene where the two first meet.

While watching others play the embarrassing game of Tokimeki Memorial, Haruo forces his sensibilities on the girls, earning their hatred. The girls end up with so many bombs that it's difficult to aim. At this point, there's no escape. In Tokimeki Memorial, when a bomb explodes, not only does it dramatically lower the opinion of the girl who exploded it, but so do the other girls. Being disliked by a girl can lead to heartbreakingly harsh words, making it a truly terrifying game.

Hidaka allowed Haruo to leave his PlayStation for the time being, but there was a bomb attached to his head. Will this bomb explode one day, turning Haruo into a sissy?

After entering high school, Hidaka began honing his skills at the arcade. He started playing games because of Haruo, but before he knew it, he was captivated by their charm. At first, he was completely helpless even when he went to the game machine, but he gradually became accustomed to the games and the arcade atmosphere.
The Girl Who Breaks Her High Score
Hidaka, who Haruo had originally described as "a girl who has something he doesn't," blossoms into a talented girl with astonishing speed. Hidaka, who dabbles in various games, breaks her high score in "Splatterhouse," Haruo's favorite. However, her high score is easily surpassed, and what's more, it's surpassed by someone with the sensibility of an elementary school student. Hidaka's heart nearly breaks. After failing his high school entrance exams, Haruo has become apathetic and has distanced himself from arcades. Hidaka invites him back to the arcade for the first time in a while. When Hidaka challenges him to a match, Haruo declares, "You little chick bounces back and forth! I'll beat you up and make you cry tears of frustration!" He sets out to beat up the overconfident Hidaka.
Haruo Gets Beaten Up
However, Hidaka had become incredibly strong without anyone even realizing it. He was no longer the man he was when he was playing gacha, and had transformed into a fierce warrior who could effortlessly execute advanced techniques. While he intended to beat him up, he ended up getting beaten up himself. Even his signature Vampire Hunter technique was confused and beaten to a pulp, leaving him helpless.
Stand Up Again
Haruo had drifted away from arcades and was obsessed with home video games, so there was no way he could beat Hidaka, who had trained in real combat. Shaking with frustration and on the verge of giving up, Haruo was encouraged by Guile and Akira, but he rose again. He decided to start over from scratch and once again face someone stronger than him with confidence.

Hidaka has always had a crush on Haruo. However, long before she entered the world of games, she sensed that there was something bigger between Haruo and Ohno than could prevent her from getting involved. Still, Hidaka couldn't give up on her feelings.

After lending Haruo his PlayStation, Hidaka is on his way home. Unable to contain his feelings, he impulsively confesses his feelings. He then makes a condition: if he loses the rematch with Haruo, he will back off. However, if he wins, he wants to go out with him.

From this day on, Hidaka trained hard with fellow enthusiasts, including Nikotama-chan, also known as Futakotamagawa Felicia, and prepared thoroughly for Haruo's challenge. However, Haruo was not about to leave things as they were. The two continued to hone their skills every day, and the day of the showdown soon arrived.

During a school trip in junior high, Haruo is asked by a teacher who is sick on the Shinkansen to buy drinks. He fumbles, trying to buy drinks for his other friends as well. Worried about this, Hidaka goes to check on them, but Haruo drops his drink and knocks it over, leaving the two behind.
Haruo, the Tough Guy
Hidaka was flustered, but Haruo, with his strong mentality forged through games and the toughness to withstand criticism of his inferiority in everyday life, was resilient and unconcerned. The two then set off on a voyage around Lake Biwa on their way to Kyoto.
Is this a date?
Along the way, they find an abandoned arcade and play, soak up the view of Lake Biwa, and head to Kyoto together. But to Hidaka, it feels like a date. It's a heart-warming scene that highlights Hidaka's cuteness.

After Hidaka confessed his feelings to her, the two continued to train together under the condition that if they won the rematch, they would go out together, and if they lost, they would give up. The day of their rematch finally arrived. The match will be held in three titles: Samurai Spirits, King of Fighters 95, and Vampire Hunter. The first to win two games will win. A battle with both sides putting their pride on the line begins.
A Fateful Showdown
Hidaka won in Samurai Spirits, and Haruo won in King of Fighters 95. The only match left was Vampire Hunter. Haruo Bishamon closed the distance and pressed hard, giving Haruo the first point. In the second match, Hidaka took back the round with a near-instant kill, the Confuser. In the third match, Hidaka landed a Confuser, but avoided the deathblow with a barrage of heavy kicks. Haruo then reacted to a small kick and landed an EX Kien Slash, securing the victory.
Conclusion
After a disappointing loss, Hidaka explodes with emotion, punching Haruo and making gamer-like complaints. Still, a loss is a loss, and Hidaka, shaking with frustration, refuses to give up on either Haruo or fighting games, resolving to use this to improve her game. As Hidaka walks into the sunset with tears in her eyes, Phobos congratulates her. I think the final scene, where Phobos congratulates her, was a truly High Score Girl-esque scene.
