The third season of "Welcome to the Classroom of the Elite," a light novel about a school where meritocracy is the only way to achieve success, is scheduled to air in January 2024. The anime aired up to roughly volume 7 of the original manga, so the third season will likely cover episodes starting from volume 8. Some people might want to catch up on the previous series' second season before the broadcast. This time, we'll be looking back at the content of season 2! This is also recommended for those who want to rewatch season 2 but don't have the time!
Where does season 2 begin in the original manga?
Season 2 picks up where volume 4 of the original light novel left off. The first season covered up to the Deserted Island Arc, which featured the special exam. The second season begins with an episode on the return boat after the Deserted Island Arc. The final episode includes the contents of Volume 7 and is full of highlights. The third season will cover the content from Volume 8 onwards, and it is said that Sakayanagi Arisu, a popular character who is shrouded in mystery in the anime version, will likely play a more active role. From now on, we will be looking back at the contents of Season 2 in chronological order! Please be aware that there may be spoilers for those who have not yet seen it!
The Exam Begins on a Luxury Cruise Ship
The special exam on the deserted island concluded safely, thanks in part to Kiyotaka Ayanokoji's solo efforts. Just when you thought all that was left to do was head home, a new exam, "Thinking," was about to take place on the cruise ship on the return journey. This exam wasn't a class-versus-class test, but rather a mixed-class grouping. However, this grouping led to trouble and arguments between students. Additionally, the past of the heroine, Kei Karuizawa, who was known for her selfishness and somewhat problematic behavior, is revealed. In fact, Karuizawa bullied her in the past, a traumatic experience for her. Upon learning this, Ayanokoji saves Karuizawa from a pinch with a drastic measure that deliberately digs into her wounds. In typical Ayanokoji style, he overwhelms Class A by contributing to his class's victory while saving his classmates. However, due to a tricky character in Class C, Sho Ryuen, Class C ultimately wins.
A turbulent sports festival!
Summer vacation is over, and preparations are about to begin for the upcoming sports festival. It's a grand event in which all grades are divided into red and white teams, and Class D has decided to team up with Class A. Although Sudo becomes the leader of Class D, interference from Class C causes great difficulties. Horikita Suzune, also in Class D, is criticized by Ayanokoji for her personality flaws. After Ayanokoji explains the importance of facing others, Horikita persuades Sudo, who has run away. This scene shows Horikita's growth. Ayanokoji's performance at this year's sports festival was eye-catching. Despite previously being unassuming and unremarkable, his speed in the relay race left some students shocked and even distrustful. While viewers know Ayanokoji's true nature, his classmates in the story naturally do not, so putting themselves in their shoes must have been quite a shock. It is also revealed that Kushida Kikyo, who dislikes Horikita, has been scheming to give Class C an advantage. Also, Sakayanagi Arisu, who has not made many appearances up until now (she only attends due to a congenital condition), makes an appearance and reveals that she knows about Ayanokoji's past, including his origins in the White Room.
Final Exams Begin
Soon after the midterm exams were over, the final exams awaited. This is similar to real high school, and strangely realistic. However, the exams at this school are a little different. This final exam is a paper-shuffle style test, in which each class creates their own exam questions and has the other classes answer them. Class D has decided to exchange questions with Class C. Ayanokoji and his friends continue studying for the exams. In the final exam episode, Ayanokoji shows some growth. Having mostly acted alone up until now, he finally forms a group of friends. This marks a major step forward for Ayanokoji, as he has always had difficulty making friends. While he continues to study smoothly, someone is secretly working behind the scenes. This person is Kushida, who betrayed the class at the sports festival. Kushida had been secretly connecting with Class C and rigging the situation to ensure their victory. However, his plot is discovered. As usual, it is not Ayanokoji who sees through this, but Horikita. Thanks to Horikita, Kushida's plan fails and Class D wins.
Kiyotaka Ayanokoji VS Sho Ryuen
The points between Class C and Class D were gradually narrowing. Sho Ryuen, the leader of Class C, felt a sense of crisis. Ryuen was determined to find out who was secretly controlling Class D. He decided to target Megumi Karuizawa and planned to corner her and force her to reveal the name of the mastermind. Karuizawa was subjected to what could be described as torture by Ryuen and his men, but still refused to reveal the name of the mastermind, Ayanokoji. Ayanokoji appeared in this pinch and single-handedly overwhelmed Ryuen and his men. Ryuuen plans to drop out of school after this incident, but Ayanokoji sees him as useful and persuades him not to drop out. This incident brings Karuizawa and Ayanokoji closer, and as they approach their second year, the two officially begin dating.
