"Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun" is a manga serialized in Weekly Shonen Champion and has also been adapted into an anime. The second season will begin airing in April 2021. This time, we'll introduce some of Iruma-kun's most popular characters. We've ranked them based on two official popularity polls!
Popular Character #1: Suzuki Iruma (Iruma-kun)
The protagonist of this work is a poor boy who suffered terribly at the hands of his worthless parents and was ultimately sold to a demon for money. Thanks to the arrangement of the demon Sullivan, who bought Iruma-kun, he ends up attending a demon school. Growing up in trouble from a young age, Iruma-kun developed a kind-hearted personality that made him unable to say no to anything, and he developed the ability to avoid all kinds of danger. Even though he tries to avoid trouble as much as possible in the Demon World, he somehow finds himself caught up in it.
What makes Iruma-kun so popular?
He placed first in both the first and second popularity polls, making him the overwhelmingly popular protagonist. His personality is typical of a protagonist, but he's also a man who gets things done when it matters. Sometimes he puts his body on the line for his friends, sometimes he dresses up as a girl and acts like an idol, and he's willing to do pretty much anything. The evil cycle version of Iruma-kun planned for the second season is also filled with evil charisma.
Popular Character #2: Asmodeus Alice
The eldest son of the prestigious Asmodeus family, Alice is a handsome, academically and athletically gifted, top-notch student who was supposed to deliver the freshman representative speech. Although usually calm and collected, he has an extremely high level of pride. He views Iruma-kun as an enemy, challenging him to a duel after he stole his position as freshman representative. However, after landing a German suplex on him, he becomes enamored with Iruma-kun and begins to follow him. He is Iruma-kun's number one friend.
What makes Alice so popular?
She placed 4th in the first popularity poll and 2nd in the second, making her the second most popular character after Iruma-kun. Her popularity is likely due to her frequent appearances and opportunities to shine as the protagonist's handsome and reliable friend. Her unique personality changes when Iruma-kun is around her, making her a strong, intelligent, and reliable best friend.
Popular Character #3: Valac Clara
A girl with the unusual family ability of "summoning." She has a very unusual personality and is a free spirit who repeatedly acts rashly and unpredictably. She's not just a problem child, she's the most unusual character in the school. Because of her unusualness, she has no friends, and even if someone occasionally pays attention to her, they only see her as a convenient tool for Clara's "summoning" ability. She became friends with Iruma-kun, who doesn't mind her, and Alice, who follows him, and they've been hanging out together ever since. She's Iruma-kun's second friend.
The Reason for Clara's Popularity
She placed third in the first popularity poll and fourth in the second. Since Iruma-kun often hangs out with Alice and Clara, she naturally appears more frequently. When they first met, she was nothing more than a runaway mascot with no heroic qualities, but recently her heroine powers have been increasing dramatically.
Popular Character #4: Azazel Ameri
A tall, beautiful demon who serves as the student council president of the demon school, Babylon. She is a strong-willed student council president who excels in both academics and sports, and was the first to suspect that Iruma-kun was human. While her public face is very dignified and cool, her inner self is a girlish lover of shoujo manga from the human world. She sets her sights on Iruma-kun, and although she's almost certain he's human, she tolerates him so he can give her commentary and recitations of shoujo manga, and she begins to fall in love with him.
Reasons for Ameri's Popularity
She placed second in the first popularity poll and sixth in the second. At first, she was undoubtedly the heroine. While normally a dignified and flawless student council president, her charming girlish side makes her seem out of place when she's around Iruma-kun. I think her drop in ranking in the second poll was due to the increased involvement of other characters. Ameri is in a different grade, and she's not in a position to actively interact with Iruma-kun on a regular basis...
Popular Character #5: Naberius Caluego
A strict teacher at the Demon School Babylon. He's a teacher with a very high level of pride and a strict, sinister personality, but he's also highly skilled and able to provide guidance, and ultimately a caring teacher. He's usually a fearsome, powerful character and sadistic character, but he often ends up with the short end of the stick, especially when it comes to Iruma-kun.
Reasons for Karuego's Popularity
He ranked 5th in both the first and second popularity polls. He's a strict teacher who treats his students like garbage, but he still provides instruction as a teacher, is highly skilled, and is relied upon. He gives the impression of being a scary but reliable teacher, but he also has a pitiful side to him, as seen when he's used as Iruma-kun's familiar and turned into a chick, and when he's manipulated by the chairman and ends up shouldering unnecessary hardships. I think his charm lies in his pitiful side.
Popular Character #6: Opera
Sullivan's chamberlain. A cat-eared, tailcoat-wearing butler, he's a jack-of-all-trades professional. While initially critical of Iruma for bringing a human into the world, he has recently become a reliable and understanding friend. While shrouded in mystery, he's revealed to be Karuego's senior and has shown boundless strength.
Reasons for Opera's Popularity
After ranking 8th in the first popularity poll, he made a huge leap to 3rd place in the second. Originally, only Sullivan's chamberlain was known about him in Opera, but as his appearances increased, it became clear that he was actually quite strong and a senior at Karuego's school. His mysterious, unknown gender is appealing, but above all, his good looks. He's a character likely to be popular with both men and women.
Popular Character #7: Amy Kiriwo
A handsome, bespectacled third-year student who serves as the leader of the Demon School's Magical Tool Research Division. He was shunned by those around him due to his weak and frail magical powers, but he hit it off with Iruma, who joined the division. While he usually appears kind and gentle, his true nature is a madman who finds excitement in the despair of others. He plotted to kill all faculty, staff, and students. After being thwarted by Iruma-kun, he was arrested, but later escaped and is currently missing.
Reasons for Kiriwo's Popularity
He ranked 7th in the first popularity poll and 8th in the second. He is Iruma-kun's greatest and most powerful enemy. Perhaps the final boss. A handsome character with a crazy side, he's the only one who should be killed right now, but every interesting work has its own fascinating enemy characters. Think of Maximum in Psycho-Pass and the final boss in Danganronpa. I think he's such an intriguing enemy character that he could easily devour Iruma-kun. His appearance would be disastrous, but he's a character whose future exploits are sure to be anticipated. He only appears a few times, but that's what makes him so appealing.
Popular Character #8: Kurokel Kerori
A female student in the problem child class. She wears glasses and is plain, but her true identity is that of the demon world idol, the evil idol Kuromu. She's a very popular idol, and usually disguises herself to hide her true identity, but Iruma-kun finds out her true identity and digs his own grave.
Reasons for Kurokel's Popularity
She placed 6th in the first popularity poll and 11th in the second. She's a plain-looking girl, but she's actually a popular idol. The fact that only Iruma-kun knows her true identity makes her a heroine. Thanks to Krokel, Iruma-kun ends up performing on stage as an idol. His first appearance as an idol made such a strong impact that he ranked sixth.
Popular Character #9: Balam Shichiro
He's in charge of fantasy biology at the Demon School Babylon. Because of his intimidating face, students assume he's killed a demon or two, and no one wants to get involved with him. However, he's actually one of the kindest characters of all the characters. He was a former classmate of Karuego, and his strength rivals Karuego's. He's also one of the few people who knows Iruma-kun is human.
Reasons for Balam's Popularity
He ranked 9th in both the first and second popularity polls. Despite his scary face, he's one of the kindest characters of all, and incredibly strong. I think his kindness and strength are the reasons for his popularity. A demon with the face of a devil and the heart of an angel. Angel Legend.
Popular Character #10: Shax Reed
He's a troublemaker and a playboy. He loves gambling and finds pleasure in outwitting others. In the King's Classroom arc, he uses his ability, Sense Stealing, to outwit Olias, and at the Harvest Festival, he teams up with Iruma-kun and, while showing off his petty side, performs brilliantly, resulting in a spectacular victory. He has a lot of quiet screen time.
Reasons for Shax's Popularity
Shax rose to 12th place in the first popularity poll and 7th place in the second. His popularity stems from his outstanding performance in the Harvest Festival arc and his ability as a gambler, engaging in battles of wits that Iruma-kun cannot.
