Nishi-sensei did not debut in Weekly Shonen Champion; his first serialization was in Jump Square. Jump Square has produced many works that have been or are scheduled to be adapted into anime, including Platinum End, Moriarty the Patriot, and World Trigger. About Nishi Osamu's currently serialized "Iruma-kun"

Iruma-kun cover

"Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun" has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Champion since 2017. It's a school fantasy comedy about Suzuki Iruma, a poor boy sold to demons by his worthless parents. After a series of events, he ends up attending the demon school Babylon, where he enjoys a chaotic youth while hiding his human identity. One common thread is the demonic characters seen in Hotel Helheim.

There's also a spin-off, "We Are the Main Characters of the Demon World!" 』

We Are the Main Characters of the Demon World

"We Are the Main Characters of the Demon World!" has been serialized in the same magazine since 2020. This spin-off of Iruma-kun focuses not on the troubled class of problem children, but on the attention-seeking demon Teufel Xiaolong and the members of the "We Are the Main Characters" division. Characters from the original work also make an appearance. Characters who barely featured in the original work may also have their moment to shine.

Is Nishi Osamu from the Tokiwa-so Project?! What is the Tokiwa-so Project?

Tokiwa-so

The Tokiwa-so Project is a manga artist training project run by the NPO NEWVERY. It rents out shared houses to support professional debuts, and offers study sessions and job placement services. Some residents even have the opportunity to receive guidance from professional manga artists, including a Mentor House run by Shinobu Kaitani, famous for his work on LIARGAME.

What is Tokiwa-so anyway?

Tokiwa-so was an apartment building located in Minaminagasaki 3-chome, Toshima Ward, Tokyo. It's where many famous manga artists, some of whom remain in the history of manga, lived and worked together to create their manga. Famous figures such as Osamu Tezuka, Fujiko Fujio, and Shotaro Ishinomori frequented the site, making it no exaggeration to say that the history of Japanese manga was made here. Currently, Tokiwa-so is a separate building, and the Toshima Ward Tokiwa-so Manga Museum has been built in Minaminagasaki Hanasaki Park.

Introducing the Tokiwa-so Project Alumni!

The Tokiwa-so Project, which has been running since 2006, has produced many professional manga artists, including Iruma-kun's Nishi-sensei. Currently, 121 people have become professionals through the Tokiwa-so Project, and it's possible that someday, a major manga artist like Iruma-kun's Nishi-sensei will emerge.

Little Bear's Cake Shop - Kamentotsu

Little Bear's Cake Shop

This work went viral immediately after it was posted on Twitter, leading to the decision to publish it as a book. It's a four-panel comic about a little bear and a young man who work at a cake shop. Currently, five volumes have been published by Shogakukan, and some of the work can be viewed on NetLab and YouTube. The name Kamentotsu is said to have come from the fact that when he started the "Assault on the Ruins" thread, he was wearing a mask, which led to him being called "Masked Assault."
