"Ueno-san wa Bukiyou" (Ueno-san wa Bukiyou) is a manga by tugeneko that was serialized in the biannual manga magazine "Young Animal." It was adapted into an anime series in January 2019 and is scheduled to air primarily on TOKYO MX. The story centers around a middle school student named Ueno. Ueno tries various ways to confess her feelings to Tanaka, the girl she has a crush on, but always fails. This invention, created to prevent panty shots, was used to test the degree to which skirt corners could be blocked. So Ueno tested the effect on her own skirt and appointed Tanaka as recorder. Ueno was absolutely confident in the experimental product and declared that she wasn't wearing anything underneath. Ueno's statement surprised Tanaka, but she didn't seem particularly bothered. The experiment then began, and she finally pulled her skirt up 90 degrees, with the effect continuing to be felt. However, Ueno seemed annoyed that Tanaka showed no signs of embarrassment, even as she pulled her skirt up. "Imagine that thing completely exposed in the darkness and come at me!" Ueno said, to which Tanaka replied, "What's that thing?" Ueno tried to evade the question, saying, "It's... something that boys have... but girls don't!" Tanaka seemed genuinely confused, saying, "Let me see it," and tried to lift Ueno's skirt. She then proceeded to say she was going to turn off "Kumatander No. 2." While she seems to have a strong sense of inquiry and curiosity, this scene doesn't convey the slightest bit of delicacy.

This is the story of when Ueno created the instant deodorizing device "Dash-tan." This invention, by irradiating a target with mysterious electromagnetic waves, instantly sends any odorous substance to heaven. Ueno and Yamashita, believing they needed the most powerful odor source to test its deodorizing effect, requested Tanaka's panties. However, Tanaka explained that he was the only one who was tasked with doing something during each experiment, and suggested that the three of them each bring something. Ueno and Yamashita agreed, and they decided to use their own items. Ueno chose tights, Yamashita chose socks, and Tanaka chose indoor shoes. Before conducting the experiment, each participant tested the scent of a different subject. Ueno sniffed Yamashita's socks and declared, "They smell like a girl's socks worn after school." Next, it was Tanaka's turn to sniff Ueno's tights. Ueno grinned at Tanaka's humiliation of having to smell a girl's tights in front of her and comment, but Tanaka, in shock, simply said, "They stink!" In response, Ueno says, "It wouldn't be a test if it didn't smell," but Tanaka can't hide his surprise, saying, "Well, I suppose so, but these... stink," and "Wait... eh... does it really end up like this?" Yamashita then follows up by saying, "My socks are like this too," and Tanaka sniffs Yamashita's socks, but says, "No, the chief's tights smell worse," and adds, "The chief's are about as smelly as eight socks." He even goes so far as to insist, "They stink! They definitely stink!!" One of his charms is that he never backs down from what he thinks, but it seems that he can sometimes lack tact.

Ueno developed a protective fabric that absorbs all impacts while being about the same thickness as regular fabric. Ueno told Tanaka that the cloth was already on her, so he should try to determine where it was and hit her. As for the crucial cloth, Ueno explained that she had used it to create a bra-shaped protective suit, so the effect would only be felt if she touched her breasts. Considering Tanaka to be an adolescent boy, Ueno assumed Tanaka would be gazing at girls' breasts on a regular basis, and that he would gaze at her chest to see if there was a difference in where the cloth was attached, and that he would notice the slight difference caused by the cloth being attached to her chest. However, there was a multi-layered trap: if Tanaka pointed this out, he would confess that he was always looking at breasts. Despite Ueno's expectations, Tanaka said, "Ah, I get it," and hit Ueno's buttocks. "Wait a minute!" Ueno said, but Tanaka replied, "It's right here!" and hit Ueno's buttocks again. Furthermore, Tanaka, who mistakenly thought he'd hit the target, seemed happy that he'd hit her, as he tentatively followed Ueno, trying to hit her buttocks. Ueno frantically runs away, eventually falling over. Tanaka continues to smack Ueno's buttocks. Even though it's an experiment, this scene clearly shows Tanaka's lack of tact, as he continues to smack his senior, a female student.
