Tsukiyama Shuu is known as the "Gourmet" by the CCG. His first appearance was truly gourmet, as he climbed into a woman's window while she was away, gouged out her unusually colored eyeball, and took it home as food. This time, we'll be focusing on Tsukiyama, who is often described as an eccentric pervert even among ghouls, and summarizing his eccentric behavior, even though he is now considered one of Kaneki's closest aides.
Who is Tsukiyama Shuu?
A fourth-year student in the Department of Social Welfare, Faculty of Human Sciences, Seinan Gakuin University. He's 180 cm tall, has a good figure, and is handsome with Western blood. People passing by him often exclaim, "Is he a model?!" However, in reality, he's a disappointingly handsome man who's a pervert. He has strong preferences for food and how to eat it, so much so that he even takes ingredients to professional chefs and specifies how they are prepared. When he first appeared, he brought home an eyeball, which he sautéed and enjoyed. (lol)
He has a unique way of speaking, mixing French, Italian, and English. His kagune is a ko-kagune. He fights by wrapping his kagune in a spiral around his right arm, and can transform it into a shield or sword, skillfully using it for both offense and defense. In other words, he's strong!
The scent of Kaneki's blood makes him scream, "Treee ... He pretends to go wash his handkerchief, smells the blood in the bathroom and says this. He buries his face in the handkerchief in front of the sink, panting. He's overflowing with perversion! He keeps this handkerchief with Kaneki's blood on it in a storage bag. A real pervert!
"I want to eat Kaneki-kun while he's eating me!"
How badly do you want to eat Kaneki-kun? (lol)
This is what he said when he kidnapped Nishiki's girlfriend, Kimi, to lure Kaneki out. Tsukiyama wants to eat Kaneki while he's eating a human! This is a completely incomprehensible statement... Is it like what we call eating shrimp? After this, Kaneki calls Tsukiyama a "pervert." And he's absolutely right! (lol)
"Apparently, I'm surprisingly tasty."
Tsukiyama was defeated by Touka, who unleashed her true power after eating Kaneki's flesh. He begs Kaneki for "one last bite..." but Touka dismisses him. Afterward, they leave the dying Tsukiyama behind and escape with Kimi and a battered Nishiki. However, Tsukiyama later appears at Anteiku in good health. He claims that he revived himself by eating his own flesh at the last moment! Ghouls say that they cannot eat the flesh of their own kind because it tastes bad, but Tsukiyama declares that even his own flesh, a ghoul, was delicious (lol). Perhaps his palate is unique, as he hunts down the half-ghoul Kaneki for food... Even so, it's rare to find someone strong enough to choose to eat their own flesh (lol).
The anime's voice actor is Miyano Mamoru!

Tsukiyama, who is fluent in several languages, is voiced by Miyano Mamoru. Miyano has appeared in many famous works, including Ouran High School Host Club (Suoh Tamaki), Uta no Prince-sama Maji LOVE series (Ichinose Tokiya), Death Note (Yagami Light), and Bungo Stray Dogs (Dazai Osamu). He has voiced a variety of characters, from cool characters to slightly comedic characters. Tsukiyama's excited "Treeeeeeeeebian!!" has been recreated in a pretty crazy way, in a good way! This is probably what Tsukiyama would actually say... but it's still quite a pervert (lol). It's no wonder Miyano has played so many different characters! Hats off to him!
Summary
What did you think? Tsukiyama has some (quite a) quirks, but in the latest volume 14 of Tokyo Ghoul:re, he's become a truly reassuring companion, shedding tears of pure wish for Kaneki's happiness. However, in the bonus four-panel comic strips in the original manga, Tsukiyama is also a source of inspiration alongside Yomo. In the main story, he shows off his cool side as the One-Eyed King's advisor, but in the bonus four-frame comic, the eccentric Tsukiyama is still alive and well (lol). We'll be keeping an eye on his growth in the future.
