A new girl who appeared in Tokyo Ghoul:re. She usually lives a lazy, reclusive life, and is chubby and baby-faced, but she is actually a ghoul investigator. This time, I would like to introduce Yonebayashi Saiko from the Quinx Squad.

An investigator living a self-indulgent life?

He's supposed to be a member of the Quinx squad, but he's more like a NEET, living a self-indulgent life of holed up in his room playing games and eating candy. He speaks in a loose manner that sounds like a mix of various dialects, and rarely uses honorific language.

NEET? And a mascot?

A typical otaku girl with a wide range of interests, including manga, anime, games, collecting figurines, and surfing. She is free-spirited, moody, and unplanned. She is also very loose with time. Basically, she is an idiot and likes to be spoiled. She is a useless person who cannot be defended, but she is the most humane person in the Quinx squad, and perhaps because of her tolerance, everyone in the squad loves her like a mascot.

She calls each of her team members by their nicknames, and is a sort of mood maker among the Quinx. She has a baby face and a small transistor glamour, but she is a little overweight due to her laziness.

Surprisingly good at being spoiled?

Saiko, who always slacks off, is very good at being spoiled. Not only does she skillfully convince Mutsu to skip work, she also invites Shirazu to play games, and when she's sleepy in the morning, she carries him on her back to the office. She even asks Haise, whom she calls "Mama" and adores, to clean her ears. She's extremely good at being spoiled, even leaning on the nervous and moody Urie in a friendly manner. Although she's a game nerd and on the verge of becoming a NEET, she seems to have good communication skills.

Reason for becoming an investigator

Growing up in a single-parent household, he enrolled in the CCG Academy Junior School with his brother for economic reasons. He showed a high level of aptitude in the [Qs Treatment Aptitude Test] for junior students, and became a ghoul investigator despite his intentions due to his mother's desire to receive subsidies.

Sasaki Haise = Maman

As a result, he has almost no awareness of being an investigator, and Sasaki, who sympathizes with their situation, is unable to speak out strongly, which ultimately contributes to their NEET lifestyle. Furthermore, Saiko calls Sasaki "Mama" (maybe literally, considering that Sasaki's mother was quite a toxic parent, even though Sasaki himself is a man) and loves and depends on him because Sasaki is always kind and takes care of her, even though he sometimes scolds her for being so self-indulgent.

Lack of practical experience

He is the least experienced among the team members, and due to his low physical abilities, he is not seen as a basic fighting force by those around him. He is aware of this, but he has neglected training for a long time, and after using his kagune once, he is unable to use it for a while. However, the tragedy of the battle with Rose awakens his investigator's consciousness, and he overcomes his weakness and grows tremendously. Furthermore, due to his unique sensibility, he is not bound by common sense among the team members, and he has contributed to collecting information during investigations.

Yonebayashi Saiko's Kagune

Rinka. It has a shape like a giant caterpillar. It is rare for a rinka to control multiple kagune, as it is only one. Although he boasts the most firepower among the Quinx, in the first half of the game he was literally a one-hit wonder, as he was one-hit kill due to his lack of stamina mentioned above. Due to the gravity-class mass of his kagune, he is unable to move and must fix his footing in some cases, so he mainly provides support from the rear.

Evolving Kagune

However, later, he began to control his kagune with ease, using his natural imagination (for example, recreating unique weapons from robot animes with his own kagune), which made full use of his otaku hobbies, his outstanding skills, and the endurance he gained from training a little more seriously after the incident with Shirazu.

There are risks in using strong powers

Because it is so big and powerful, once it is manifested, it seems to take away all of his physical strength. In the original work, it was depicted that once used, it cannot be recovered for a while. One reason for this is probably that Saiko does not have physical strength because she is always lying around and does not train her body, but even so, she cannot use it as frequently as other Quinx. Nevertheless, recently, she has been energy in investigations and combat, and seems to have started using Quinques and kagune more often.

Are kagune gruesome?

I know that Saiko's kagune is strong, but it looks overwhelmingly gruesome compared to other Quinx and ghoul kagune. There are two possible reasons why this is the case. One is that it is a rinkaku kagune. Kagune are divided into four types depending on the location of the kagune. The rinkaku is located on the waist area and is said to have a pattern like scales.

The Mystery of Kagune

The other is the height of the Rc cells. This is just a guess, but in Tokyo Ghoul, Kaneki's kagune can take on various shapes. It seems that the shape changes depending on his mental state, such as when he is high and takes on the shape of a centipede. Eto also said something along the lines of, kagune is imagination. It sounds like she's saying that the shape is generally determined by one's innate nature, but that the shape of one's kagune can be changed through training and an increase in Rc cells. From the above, it seems likely that the reason Saiko's kagune has a unique shape is because of her high Rc cell value.

Threatened by Urie, he goes to rescue Mutsu with Shirazu and engages in combat with Nutcracker. He was flustered at his first battle, but thanks to Shirazu's quick thinking, he succeeds in dealing a fatal blow to the immobilized Nutcracker.

Promotion!

She was frightened by the sight of Sasaki being unilaterally tortured by Owl, but she rushed to stop him as he returned to the fight. After the auction sweep operation, she was promoted to second-class investigator.

Her lifestyle hasn't changed since the human auction, and she doesn't seem to be training. During the small group's surprise attack on Aogiri Tree, she escaped alone and hid, but was discovered by a ghoul and was nearly eaten, but was rescued by a mysterious person. During the undercover investigation, he takes the initiative and succeeds in obtaining information.

Takes care of Shirazu

During the Tsukiyama family cleanup, he cuts Noro in half with the support of Qs, but it's ineffective and he escapes from the onslaught of Kagune. However, due to the above reasons, he was unable to fight, and could only watch as Shirazu challenged Noro alone to protect his friends. He was with Urie at his end, and cried at his grave.

He was appointed vice-leader of the Quinx squad. Reflecting on her past experiences in the previous battle, she has been training hard, improving her stamina and the endurance of her kagune. She has built a good relationship with the new Quinx, pampering them and playing games with them. She calls herself the wife of the entire Quinx squad.

She continues to serve as vice-leader of the Quinx Squad. Although her daily life remains unchanged, deep down she cannot bring herself to believe Sasaki's betrayal, and when she notices the change in Mutsumi, who has begun committing murder despite being an investigator, she secretly sheds tears.

The deadly puff puff!?

During the Pierrot surprise attack, he participated in the subjugation together with Xiao, and against the frame-out and rampaging Urie, he fought using his extremely unique kagune, which will be described later, and calmed him down by teaming up with Xiao. By the way, the deciding factor was the puff puff that made the most of her voluptuous breasts.

Why did she become a hard worker?

Psycho getting pumped

Why is the talented girl who used to slack off at work so much now so serious? It's all because of the late Shizuru. After Shirazu dies, the remaining Quinx members Urie, Mutsuki, and Saiko vow to join forces to earn money for the medical expenses of Shirazu's sister, recover Shirazu's stolen body, and put her to rest in peace.

Summary

What did you think? Saiko doesn't have many scenes in Quinx, but she steals the best parts and appears as a comedian, making her quite charming. Some people dislike her because she skips work, gets scared, and has other unsuccessful moments, but (my friend is like that 😉 she also has her weaknesses, which makes her shine. Although there may have been some shortcomings at first, he now has junior colleagues and is working (more than before) diligently, and I will continue to watch over him with love.
