To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts is a series that has been running in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine since 2014. The pseudo-divine soldiers were created during the civil war, and in exchange for their human form, they possess incredible power. They were worshipped as gods during the war, but this story follows them after the war. The former pseudo-divine soldiers are unable to return to being human, and gradually become beasts. In this article, we will introduce Nancy Schall Bancroft, whose father was a pseudo-divine soldier.
Who is Nancy Schall Bancroft, whose father was a pseudo-divine soldier?
Nancy's Early Life
Raised by her father, John William Bankft, she helped run an orphanage. She carries an elephant-killing hunting rifle on her back. Her father was John William Bankft, a former quasi-divine soldier. After his death, she set out on a journey to avenge his death. There, she met her nemesis, Hank Henriette. Her journey began anew with this encounter.
Nancy's Father
Nancy's father was John William Bankft, who ran an orphanage and became a pseudo-divine soldier during the war. His name as a pseudo-divine soldier was Nidhoggr. He became a pseudo-divine soldier for the sake of the orphanage, but after the war ended, he was unable to return to his human form and remained in his dragon form. He required a large amount of food to survive, and the orphanage's operations became strained due to the cost of his food. While the villagers were grateful to him for his service during the war, friction gradually increased, with him attacking their livestock and other incidents. Just then, Hank Henriette appears and kills John.
Why Hank Killed John
Originally, Hank was searching for the man who killed his father, but he later learned that Hank was a former pseudo-divine soldier and captain. Hank's reason for killing his fellow pseudo-divine soldiers was to bury those who had lost their hearts with their own hands. The pseudo-divine soldiers were originally developed by a woman named Elaine. Elaine believed that the power of the pseudo-divine soldiers should not remain after the war was over. Elaine and Hank were likely romantically involved. Elaine shoots Hank, intending to kill all the pseudo-divine soldiers, and then kill herself. However, Cain, also a pseudo-divine soldier, knows this and pretends to cooperate by shooting Elaine, thus unleashing the pseudo-divine soldiers at the end of the war. Hank, who happens to survive, cleans up the mess and, in keeping with Elaine's wishes, carries out the unit's mission.
Nancy Schall Bancroft and the Pseudo-Divine Soldiers
Nancy decides to work with Hank, and from there she witnesses the final moments of various pseudo-divine soldiers. It's clear that Nancy, whose father was a pseudo-divine soldier, treated them as human beings until the very end.
Gargoyle
He was enthralled by the priest's preaching of justice, but in the poverty of the slums, he had no choice but to commit crimes to survive. After becoming a pseudo-divine soldier, Gargoyle returned to the slums where he grew up to uphold his own sense of justice. He began to take lives even for the slightest crime, but when Nancy confronted Gargoyle, she was unable to hit him. Perhaps she sympathized with him, or perhaps she saw her father in him... However, when they faced each other again, she screamed at Gargoyle that there was no justice in the world and pulled the trigger.
Siren
Siren, a pseudo-divine soldier, puts enemies to sleep on the battlefield with her unique singing voice, even taking their lives. Nancy, in her despair, wanted to convince her that this was a mistake. She asked if there was hope. Moved by her words, Siren died singing a memorable song she used to sing in a bar, even though she knew she would be shot and killed.
Nancy Schall Bancroft, the Pseudo-Divine Soldiers, and Gods
Ecole
This is the place where the Pseudo-Divine Soldiers were created and where they also lived. It's also where research into Pseudo-Divine Soldiers was conducted, and where many suitable individuals lost their lives in experiments. It's also where Elaine gave birth to Miglieria, a human who became a Pseudo-Divine Soldiers without possessing a Pseudo-Divine Soldiers' core.
Elaine and Nancy
The reason Elaine was able to create the pseudo-divine soldiers was because she could hear the voices of god, somniums, and fossils of gods. It appears that the church was also involved in the development of the pseudo-divine soldiers. She created the pseudo-divine soldiers in accordance with the voices of god. Nancy also appears to be able to hear the voices of god. While it is unclear what causes her to be able to hear the voices of god, this fact seems to be related to the core of the story.
