To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts is scheduled to be adapted into an anime in the summer of 2019. The story follows the aftermath of the pseudo-divine soldiers created during the war. The pseudo-divine soldiers gained incredible powers in exchange for their human bodies and minds. However, after the war, they gradually lost their hearts and turned into beasts that harmed the city. Hank, the captain of the pseudo-divine soldiers, goes on a journey to eliminate them, guided by his unit's oath to end those who have lost their hearts with his own hands. In this article, we will introduce Elaine Bluelake, the researcher who created the pseudo-divine soldiers.
Elaine Bluelake's Childhood
Elaine was a child of the aristocratic Bluelake family. However, her home was burned down during the war, leaving her an orphan. There, she met Hank, and together they lived, picking up trash in the slums. In fact, when they first met, Hank had no memory of anything, not even his name. It was Elaine who gave him his name. Then, a church noticed her talent and offered her admission to Sunday school and protection. She accepted, on the condition that she stay with Hank.
Elaine Bluelake and Sunday School
Sunday School
Elaine enrolled in Sunday school with Hank. She excelled there and was highly respected by the teachers. During her time at Sunday school, Kane enrolled. The son of future president Richard, he came to inspect the school and fell in love with Elaine at first sight. He and Hank became good friends, and the three successfully graduated from Sunday school. Hank then joined the military, Kane followed his father into politics, and Elaine became a researcher at the church.
Voice of God
Elaine became a researcher because she was able to hear the voice of God coming from the Somnium. Following that voice, she continued her research. As a researcher, Elaine conducted research into the effective use of Somniums, but it seems that her research results were not what the state or the church expected. Elaine is often depicted missing Hank, who she was separated from, suggesting that the two were probably in love.
Elaine Bluelake and the Pseudo-Divine Soldier
Some time has passed since Elaine became a researcher, and the Church takes her to the site of a large Somnium stone, the God's Fossil, in Ecole. There, she hears a powerful voice from the God's Fossil. Following this, she begins human experimentation to create powerful soldiers. She hears the voice of God telling her that by inserting a Somnium stone into the human body as a core, she will gain immense power. As she continues her research, she begins to understand that the aptitude of the person receiving the core is extremely important. At that time, Hank, who had sustained fatal injuries in the war, was brought to the human research facility. He was found to have the perfect aptitude for Somnium stones. Hearing Hank's words, knowing that his life was about to end, Elaine decided to conduct an experiment to implant a core into him. The experiment was a spectacular success, and Hank served in the war as the first pseudo-divine soldier.
Elaine Bluelake, the Pseudo-Divine Soldiers, and the War
Elaine, Hank, and Kane
As the war nears its end, Elaine begins to believe that the Pseudo-Divine Soldiers are not a force worth preserving after the war. She discusses this with Kane, and plans to shoot and kill her beloved Hank first. She then plans to kill all the Pseudo-Divine Soldiers and then herself. However, Kane was only pretending to cooperate, and immediately shot and killed Elaine after she shot Hank. He then unleashed the pseudo-divine soldiers. He then transported Elaine to Ecole and stole her skills and knowledge regarding the pseudo-divine soldiers. Hank, who was shot, survived and is now traveling to kill the pseudo-divine soldiers unleashed by Kain.
Milieria
A girl who travels with Kain. She is the child Elaine kept in an aquarium at Ecole. Although she is a pseudo-divine soldier, she does not possess a pseudo-divine soldier core and is a natural-born pseudo-divine soldier. Her father may be Hank. If she is Elaine's child, Elaine is not a pseudo-divine soldier. She appears to have the ability to turn people into zombies and control them. There is still much mystery surrounding her.
Introducing Elaine Bluelake: Conclusion
What kind of memories did Elaine create? What is her relationship with Milia? We still don't know how Kane became a Divine Warrior. In any case, this is a work that leaves you wanting to know more about its sequel. I'm also curious to see how the anime adaptation will turn out.
