To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts has been serialized in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine since 2014. The story depicts the post-war life of the pseudo-divine soldiers, an army that gained great powers in exchange for human bodies during the war. Hank Henriette travels to kill the pseudo-divine soldiers, vowing to bury them with his comrades when they lose their human form. Among them is Cain Madhouse, a man who sets the pseudo-divine soldiers free without killing them. What is his purpose? Today, we'd like to introduce you to Cain Madhouse.
Overview of Kain Madhouse
Kane's real name is Kain Withers. He is the eldest son of the Withers family, and his father became president. He loved his mother, but her death occurred while he was attending Sunday school due to his father's conspiracy. He met and became friends with Elaine and Hank at Sunday school. After graduating from Sunday school, Elaine became a researcher, and Hank joined the military. Kain then became a politician, following in his father's footsteps. However, Elaine's whereabouts became unknown, and photos of military research revealed that she was conducting research on pseudo-divine soldiers. He then became a pseudo-divine soldier himself. He had a difficult relationship with his father, the president, and his mind gradually began to crumble.
Katute: Madhouse
He's a vampire quasi-divine soldier. He appears to be able to obtain the memories and knowledge of those whose blood he drinks. His combat abilities are unknown, as no direct combat scenes have been depicted to date, but, as with typical vampires, he appears to be able to make those whose blood he drinks violent. Furthermore, since he doesn't have a beastly form, it's believed he can switch between human and beast form.
Kein Madhouse, who unleashed the Pseudo-Divine Soldiers
Hank says of the Pseudo-Divine Soldiers, "Elaine created them, Hank taught them how to live, and Kain unleashed them." Originally, Elaine was able to hear the voice of God and, as an engineer, created the Pseudo-Divine Soldiers. Her beloved, Hank, was the first Pseudo-Divine Soldiers to become one. Hank then served as the Pseudo-Divine Soldiers' captain, participating in the war. He vowed to stop those who had lost their minds with the help of his comrades, and he seeks out and kills them. Towards the end of the war, Elaine, knowing that it was about to end, decided that there should be no pseudo-divine soldiers left after the war ended, and so she shot Hank. She then planned to kill all the pseudo-divine soldiers with her own hands and then die herself. Kane pretended to cooperate, but after shooting Hank, he shot her, stealing her knowledge and unleashing the pseudo-divine soldiers.
Kane Madhouse and Milia
Mililia is a girl who travels with Kane. Hank only discovered her true identity when they arrived at Ecole. Using the flying insects, Twilight shared the world she saw, revealing events from the past. She was a pseudo-divine soldier created by Elaine, without a pseudo-divine core. She was a natural-born pseudo-divine soldier. Since Elaine isn't a pseudo-divine soldier, perhaps she's the child of Hank and Elaine?
Kain Madhouse's Purpose
What does Kain intend to do by unleashing the pseudo-divine soldiers? He plans to wage war once again. The pseudo-divine soldiers fought, shedding blood. However, after the war ended, their hearts were trampled on and twisted. They will fight as they please. The pseudo-divine soldiers, obedient to this will, traveled with Kane. And when he spoke with the President, he described it as a game to fulfill the wishes of the people and their doubts.
Kane Madhouse's Childhood
His Beloved Mother
As a child, he loved his mother dearly. However, after he enrolled in Sunday school, she was killed in a Confederate attack while visiting a refugee camp. Later, she married a second wife. Later, after becoming a politician, Kain learns that the incident may have been orchestrated by his father. He seems to have since reconciled with his father.
Elaine and Hank
Elaine and Hank met at Sunday school. Kain fell in love with Elaine at first sight, and when she disappeared after graduation, he searched for her himself. This likely had a major influence on his decision to become a Pseudo-Divine Soldier. He was also best friends with Hank, and in exchange for tutoring him, he taught him various games. During the war, he served as his right-hand man, becoming a pseudo-divine soldier and fighting alongside him.
Kain Madhouse: Final Thoughts
Kain is likely the final boss. I'm curious about his upcoming battle with Hank, but I'm also curious about Milia, who travels with him. And Nancy, who travels with Hank, seems to be able to hear the voice of God. I can't wait to see what happens next!
