The two hide out in a rundown apartment in Sasazuka and make a living by working part-time at the hamburger shop, McDonald's. However, one day, he meets a stranger by chance and shows kindness to her, which leads to a feud between them. This woman turns out to be his former enemy, the hero Emilia. Emilia has also come to modern-day Japan in pursuit of the Demon King.

Episode 2②
In this world, Emi calls herself Emi Yusa and earns a living as an office worker at a telemarketing center. While living a normal, working life, Emi stalks Maou, but Maou lives an honest, honest life with no shame in anything as a person, which completely demoralizes her. Season 1 Recap Part 4: Episode 4: The Hero Touches the Warmth of the Heart
After the incident, Emi, out of concern for her friend Rika Suzuki, takes refuge at her apartment. Emi, also known as the hero Emilia, was supposed to have left her hometown and been fighting to defeat the Demon King, who had committed every atrocity. Episode 4, Part 2
The next day, Emi dutifully returns the 1,000 yen she borrowed. She falls down the stairs of her poorly constructed apartment and experiences the ultimate humiliation of needing medical treatment. Episode 5, Part 2
Maou and Emi are forced to flee Lucifer's attacks, which destroy the city and draw energy from the people's fear. Maou and Ashiya are shot through with Lucifer's magic bullets. Maou and Ashiya have instructed Urushibara to gather information on magical powers.
Episode 6 Part 2
Among the information Urushibara has gathered is a rumor about a locked door at the school, which may hold clues to magical powers. Since it just so happens to be Chiho's school, they ask Chiho for directions and sneak into the school late at night, only to be suddenly confronted by Emi. Emi spots Maou and the others sneaking into the school late at night, suspecting they're up to no good and following them.

A woman wearing an expensive-looking kimono moves into the rundown apartment where Maou and her friends live. Her name is Suzuno Kamazuki, and while she's a bit of a recluse, the large amount of udon noodles she brings as a housewarming gift is a major help to Maou and her family's finances. Emi witnesses her socializing with Suzuno and, as usual, is suspicious.
Episode 7 Part 2
Somehow, Emi also barges in, but upon seeing Suzuno with Maou and the others, she asks if she's after Maou and subtly warns them not to get too close. Suzuno, impressed, heeds her warning. At Maou's part-time job, rival store, Sentaky Fried Chicken, is reopening. Emi is attacked by an assailant at the convenience store, but escapes after a convenience store employee throws a colored ball at her.

Episode 8②
By chance, Emi and Suzuno discover that they have both been making a huge mistake. Emi initially suspects Suzuno of being an assassin from Ente Isla, but ultimately sees her as merely a neighbor to the otherworldly Maou. She mistakenly believes that Suzuno is Suzuno and that Emi understands everything about her. The two, who seem to fit together strangely, have both misunderstood each other. Suzuno's true identity is Crestia Bell, the head inquisitor of the Ente Isla Church.
Season 1 Recap Part 9: Episode 9: The Hero Experiences a Chaotic Situation

Maoku is assigned by Kizaki, the manager of Magronald's, to work as a temporary staff member at another Magronald's store in Fushimaen Amusement Park. Ashiya was originally scheduled to join them, but he had an upset stomach from eating too much udon.
Episode 10②
Emi, Chiho, and Suzuno enter a haunted house known for being so scary it's almost scary they'll die. The unimaginably terrifying scenes leave them screaming and exhausted. A reptile exhibit keeper accidentally drops the cage key, and a monkey trainer picks it up, releasing a horde of crocodiles into the pool, causing a complete panic. However, Maou, who has gained magical powers, manages to contain the crocodiles and calm the situation. Suzuno, seeing this, wonders why the Demon King would help people.
Season 1 Recap Part 11: Episode 11: The Hero Sticks to His Beliefs
As an Inquisitor, Suzuno had experience ruthlessly eliminating troublemakers. However, seeing Maoku and Emi, she struggled with what she should do. While they deepened their relationship by selling the packages sent by their landlord at a flea market, Suzuno confided in Emi and Chiho that they should kill the Demon King Satan, putting them at odds.
Episode 11②
Suzuno doesn't know what Maou is up to, but she decides it's too dangerous to leave them alone, and so they end up having a falling out. Then, Emi and Chiho are attacked. It's the angel Sariel, disguised as Mitsuki Sarue, the manager of Sen-Tucky Fried Chicken. It was Sariel who attacked Emi at the convenience store. Emi's holy energy is ineffective against Sariel, who possesses the Fallen Angel's Evil Eye Light, and Emi is cornered. Upon learning that Emi and Chiho have been captured by the angel Sariel, Maou runs to the roof of a building.
Episode 12②
Maou rushes to their aid as the Demon King and in charge of Magronald's shifts, but with no magical powers, he is easily defeated. However, Orba, who had somehow escaped, conspires with Urushibara to use the radio tower to amplify the power of the moon, the source of Sariel's power. However, this was all a trap set by Urushibara, and the confusion caused by the radio tower's malfunction restores Maou's magical powers. The revived Maou beats up Sariel and sends her flying somewhere using a gate.
Season 1 Recap Part 13: Episode 13: The Demon King and the Hero Work Honestly
Maou and the others regained their magical powers after the incident, but they don't make it back to Ente Isla... After that, they return to their normal lives as if nothing had happened...

Suddenly, Maou takes a day off from her part-time job, and a large amount of luggage arrives at their apartment. Chiho suspects that Maou and the others have returned to the other world, and Emi also becomes more vigilant. However, it turns out that they are actually working part-time jobs to earn money for the transmitters Urushibara has planted, and that they have been receiving large amounts of luggage from a pyramid scheme that Urushibara has fallen for.
