In the alternate world known as Ente Isla, the Demon King Satan, ruler of demons, invades the human world with many of his subordinates, and is on the brink of world domination. However, a hero named Emilia Justina, wielding a holy sword and sacred energy, suddenly appears and defeats the Demon King's army's leaders one by one, leading to a counterattack that corners Satan himself. Cornered by Emilia, Satan and his confidant, Al Ciel, open a gate to another world and attempt to escape, hoping to make a comeback.

However, Satan and Arsiel arrive in modern Japan, a place devoid of the magical powers they rely on, and filled with advanced civilization and social constraints. Having lost their powers and taken on human forms, the two struggle day and night to make ends meet with their remaining magical powers, secure family registers and housing, and earn a living through part-time jobs, all in an effort to return to the demon world and gain social status in this world. Just as the two begin to adjust to modern Japan, Satan meets a certain woman. She is Emilia Justina, the hero who once cornered the Demon King. Emilia travels to another world to put an end to Satan, but she too is barely able to use her powers and struggles with the constraints of modern society, living as Emi Yusa, an office lady working at a telemarketing center!
Charm #1: The Demon King and the Hero Trapped by the Constrictions of Modern Japan
In another world, the Demon King Satan and the Hero Emilia are engaged in a battle on another level. However, after travelling to modern-day Japan, the two are unable to use most of their powers, and when they meet again they are only able to engage in low-level fighting using cheap 100-yen knives. The Demon King and the two live together in a rundown apartment, living a simple life and always worrying about money. If the residents of Ente Isla, who only know the two from their other world, were to see the two, they would surely be forced to ask, "Where on earth are the strong Demon King and Hero...?" The more the Demon King and the Hero meet, the more they fight, but if they make a fuss openly, they'll get into trouble with the police, so with these ties, their fighting is very low-level. It's so low-level it's hilarious!
Charm #2: The Demon King and Hero Have Completely Fitted into Modern Japan
The Demon King and Hero, once residents of another world, have become accustomed to modern Japan. The Demon King has become a responsible young man, earning 1,000 yen an hour and being in charge of shift management at the hamburger shop "Magronald's." He is attentive, has a keen eye, and is well-respected by his juniors. Hero Emilia's situation hasn't changed much, but her lifestyle is that of a single office lady. It's fascinating to see how they've settled in, almost to the point of forgetting their original purpose!
Charm #3: A Down-to-Earth Demon King Learns About Work and Society in Modern Japan
Maou Sadao, also known as Satan the Demon King, is a highly skilled crew member at Magronald's, and judging by his work, you might think he's forgotten his original goal. However, Maou hasn't given up on his dream of world domination. On the contrary, he plans to become a powerful figure in this world to use as leverage for a second invasion of Ente Isla. However, the only way to achieve this is to work hard and become a full-time employee at Magronald's. For someone living in modern Japan, working hard and striving for full-time employment is a noble goal that is nothing to be ashamed of. Because of this, Yusa has mixed feelings. However, in Season 2, he not only works as a crew member at McDonald's, but also gains various other social experiences while learning important lessons about being the Demon King, or rather, the manager of the Demon King's army. While you might wonder, "Is this guy really the Demon King?", it's hilarious!
Highlights! Part 1: Culture Gap Comedian, Emi Yusa
The exploits of the Demon King Satan, who is adapting to modern Japan and becoming an ideal member of society, are a highlight, but the hero Emilia, also known as Emi Yusa, who antagonizes the Demon King, is also a highlight. In fact, her futility is the highlight of the series. She too is struggling through the rough seas of modern Japan, but when she finds the Demon King and explodes with rage, brandishing a 100-yen blade, she is reported to the police and thought to be a couple with the Demon King, causing her to become furious. The Demon King and Hero, who were originally enemies, end up working together and getting along with each other. Lucifer, a former subordinate, ends up moving into Maou's apartment as a NEET after being beaten by Maou. So, enemies can suddenly become allies. This same development will continue in Season 2, so the actions of various characters are also a highlight!
