Revisions, which began airing in winter 2019, is a youthful "disaster" ensemble drama (juvenile panic ensemble) depicting the panic and struggle against the Revisions in a world where Shibuya is transported over 300 years into the future. I'd like to introduce the Revisions, the organization that opposes the protagonists, whose name is also in the title.
【revisions】A mysterious monster appears after being transported to Shibuya!?
A mysterious monster attacks the protagonists after being transported to Shibuya. It's a four-legged monster that combines flesh and machine. It attacks the protagonist Daisuke and his friends, and the story after being transported to Shibuya begins with a shocking scene in the first episode in which a female student is crushed to death. It's a very shocking scene, but since the other students are recovered without being killed, it's possible that they genuinely misused the force, or that it was just a way to stir up despair.
【revisions】The Revisions' Vanguard: The Mysterious Monster "Civilian"
These four-legged monsters, wearing eerie masks, are the Revisions' mechanical weapons. Despite their large size, they are agile and equipped with bio-cages for capturing humans on their backs. However, they lack almost all intelligence. While technically a mob soldier, the only ones capable of fighting effectively are the String Puppets, and their sheer numbers make them a hopeless threat to the residents of Shibuya Ward.
The True Identity of the Revisions
"Civilians" are citizens. As the name suggests, the true identity of civilians is human. Humans infected by the RV virus pandemic, a malignant virus that destroyed the world, experience bloating, decreased intelligence, and eventually cell death. To combat the virus, they fuse with mechanical bodies, capture normal humans, and absorb their cells, slowing the progression of the disease. They're like the mechanically enhanced zombies in zombie movies.
The "Arve" Organization, an Opponent of the Revisions
Milo, who appears before our protagonist, belongs to the "Arve," an organization opposed to the Revisions. The reason they were originally human is because humans infected with the RV virus needed normal human cells to survive, leading to the capture and sacrifice of normal humans, resulting in the deaths of countless humans at the hands of the Revisions. The difference in military strength between the Arve and the Revisions is enormous, with over 100 million human casualties to date. String puppets were developed as a means of counterattack.
【Revisions】What is the purpose of Revisions?
What is the purpose of Revisions' transport to Shibuya?
These are the people the protagonists brought to a ruined future over 300 years into the future. Revisions' bodies have mutated and are in a mortal state, so they need normal human cells with antibodies to survive. This is why they transported them to Shibuya.
Revisions Negotiates with Shibuya Residents
By ingratiating themselves with Mayor Muta, Revisions proposes handing over the string puppets under the pretext of returning a specific individual to the past. However, since Revisions' goal was to secure materials, the proposal turns out to be a lie. It seems they had no intention of keeping their promise from the start.
Revisions' Ultimate Goal
Revisions' ultimate goal is to prevent humanity from experiencing an RV virus pandemic. Their goal is to alter the past and save humanity, and regardless of the process, this goal seems far from evil, even to their enemy, the Arv. Chiharu and her team's Revision Project attempted to alter the future of human extinction by swapping the source of the pandemic with the year 2338 and fixing it there. However, the Arv saw it as a plan to secure materials.
How will the Arv respond?
The ARV detected the Revisions Project, and their predictions predicted that the future destruction of humanity was inevitable. However, the ARV deliberately overlooked the plan and used it to test string puppets, a weapon used against the Revisions. Daisuke and five other high school students were selected as test pilots. In other words, the people of Shibuya are completely caught in the crossfire.
Introducing the members of [revisions]!
Chiharu Isurugi
A member of the Revisions and Mukyu's twin sister. Her original body was infected with the RV virus, and she survives by merging with machines. When negotiating, she uses a communication body based on the sex industry of 2017.
Mukyu Isurugi
She's a sharp-tongued, gothic-lolita-fashioned communicator and Chiharu's twin sister. She's extremely harsh, cold-hearted, and selfish towards everyone except Chiharu. This applies to everyone except those who arrived in Shibuya after the drifting, and she even looks down on Nicholas, who is slightly lower in social class than her.
Nicholas Sato
Despite being a cute stuffed animal communication body, he is a member of Dandy Voice. He has a carefree and tough personality. He seems to feel a certain affinity with Daisuke, and sometimes teases him... In fact, he is an important character in this work. Despite his elusive personality, he actually has a selfish inner self, and he sometimes feels sympathy for the protagonist, Daisuke Dojima.
【revisions】Revisions Summary
This time, we introduced Revisions, the organization that opposes the protagonists in Revisions and is the title of the story. This anime lays the groundwork from the beginning, irritating you with the panic-movie-like sense of urgency and the childishness of the main character. However, these developments have meaning, and the climax towards the end is extremely entertaining. Watching it to the end will definitely change your opinion of this work. Please watch it to the end!
