"Revisions" is the latest work from director Taniguchi Goro, who worked on the anime "Code Geass," which began airing in winter 2019. It's a "youthful disaster ensemble drama (juvenile panic ensemble)" that depicts a battle against a mysterious enemy called "Revisions" and a disaster never before experienced by humanity, set in Shibuya more than 300 years in the future. We'd like to introduce you to the five select high school students who appear in "Revisions."

[Revisions] Why is this guy the main character!? Daisuke Dojima

Daisuke Character Introduction

Daisuke is the protagonist of Revisions, and the story revolves around him. Seven years before the start of the main story, Daisuke was kidnapped. He was rescued by a mysterious woman named Milo, who told him, "A terrible crisis will come, and when it does, you will be the one to protect everyone." He blindly believed this prophecy, and while isolated from his surroundings, he prepared for the coming disaster on his own.

This is what Daisuke Dojima is like

Daisuke is a fool who thinks he's a hero

Daisuke, who blindly believed in Milo's prophecy, appeared to outsiders to be a dangerous character with a severe case of chuunibyou. His childish personality, completely uncaring of his own actions, made him stand out from the crowd. Even after being transported to Shibuya, he was able to use the anti-Revisions weapon "String Puppet," demonstrating his selfish behavior without any regard for the feelings of others or the harm it could cause to those around him. He's such a childish character that it's hard to believe he's the main character.

Daisuke Dojima's success?

Daisuke Battle Scene

Daisuke Dojima pilots a string puppet for the first time, successfully defeating the Revisions' suitable forces. It's not that Daisuke has a special talent for using string puppets... Gai and Ruu, who later pilot puppets, were also able to use them as well as Daisuke on their first pilot, so Daisuke wasn't particularly special. He actually performs poorly, falling for enemy diversions and causing trouble by acting independently, but he still achieves some success with his close-combat puppet.

Why did Milo make such a prophecy?

Daisuke Hears Milo's Prophecy

Looking at it this way, Daisuke doesn't seem particularly special. In fact, Milo's prophecy has drastically changed Daisuke's personality. What does it mean? This is a major highlight of the series, Revisions.

[Revisions] A reliable, top-performing student with a leadership personality! Zhang Jian Steiner

Guy Character Introduction

Guy remembers a childhood prophecy from Milo that said, "Question everything." Perhaps because of this, he always maintains a calm perspective and possesses the judgment and drive to make objective and accurate decisions. Perhaps because of this, even before his transfer to Shibuya, he has been strict with Daisuke, who has been prone to getting into trouble because he believed in Milo's unrealistic prophecies.

This is Guy

Soccer Club Guy

Before being transferred to Shibuya, he was the ace of the soccer team and an honor student, demonstrating exceptional physical and intellectual talent. Even after being transferred to Shibuya, he continued to demonstrate his leadership skills, able to calmly and calmly make decisions and take appropriate action. This talent was evident in the battle against the Revisions, and was recognized by Chief Kuroiwa, who became the de facto leader after being transferred to Shibuya.

Guy's Achievements

Guy's Battle Scene

After being transported to Shibuya, he masters the String Puppet on his first try and continues to play a key role as a leader within S.D.S. He's arguably the most talented of the five, but the realist Guy often clashes with Daisuke, who continues to act selfishly.

What about Guy's memories?

Past Milo and Guy

All four students, including Guy and excluding Luu, remember the prophecy Milo gave them in the past. However, the circumstances seem to be slightly different. In Guy's memory, Milo is injured. What this means is never explicitly stated in the story, but it's possible that the five were gathered together from different world wars.

[Revisions] Guy's twin sisters, Zhang Lu Steiner, are both talented siblings

Character Introduction for Luu

Guy's twin sister, Luu, differs from the other four in that she barely remembers what happened seven years ago. While Milo's prophecy likely influenced the personalities of each of the four, it seems that Luu was largely unaffected by it. While there's no explicit depiction of this in the story, the character introduction on the official website states that she is deeply dependent on her brother, Guy.

What kind of person is Luu?

Luu is just as talented as his brother

Like his older brother Guy, Luu is also talented. Before being transferred to Shibuya, he was with the boys and showed excellent teamwork with Guy. He believes he is right because of Milo's prophecy, and is fed up with Daisuke's selfish behavior, so he keeps his distance.

Luu's Achievements

Luu Battle Scene

Luu demonstrates exceptional aptitude for string puppet control, and his teamwork with his brother, Guy, is particularly outstanding. He also excels in combat, and in his relationships with others, he cares for Daisuke, who selfishly lashes out at those around him and seems to be on the verge of becoming isolated. If Guy is the leader of the S.D.S., Luu has served as his second-in-command.

Why is Milo the only one without his memories?

Luu and Daisuke in the past

Each of the four Puppet Masters received a prophecy from Milo in the past. However, only Luu didn't remember Milo's prophecy. Just as the prophecies each of the four received from Milo were different, Luu also received a prophecy from a certain person in the past. I believe her vague memory is likely due to a time paradox.

[revisions] Everyone's Mood Maker! Keisaku Asano

Keisaku Character Introduction

Keisaku received a prophecy from Milo: "Accept everything." Perhaps because of this, he remained close friends with Daisuke, who had been an outsider even before his transfer to Shibuya. He was also a mood maker, encouraging everyone with his cheerful words and actions, even in situations where they might otherwise fall into negative thinking.

What kind of person is Keisaku?

Daisuke and his best friend Keisaku

He cares about his friends and family, and is tolerant and insightful, treating even the selfish Daisuke equally. He's a really good guy, and is the most mentally mature of the five. Even after his mother is kidnapped by the Revisions, he doesn't show much anxiety to those around him, but he does disobey orders with Daisuke to save his mother, so he still has a side of a high school student his age.

Keisaku's Achievements

Keisaku cheers up Marimari

In the midst of these extreme circumstances, Keisaku served as a buffer between the members when they were on the verge of conflict. He is undoubtedly the most important person in the relationships between the five, and the unsung hero. Keisaku's presence played a major role in maintaining a relationship that could have fallen apart with one wrong move, such as Daisuke's selfish behavior. He is also quite skilled at controlling puppets, and sometimes acts independently with Daisuke to search for his mother after she is kidnapped by the Revisions.

What if Keisaku hadn't been there?

Keizaku in a rage

Keizaku is undoubtedly the most important figure in S.D.S., and if he were to leave for any reason, the remaining members would inevitably fall apart. But perhaps he is also the most important figure in another sense? Keizaku will be extremely involved in the Revisions series itself.

[revisions] A mascot-like figure!? Marimari, also known as Temanawa Airi

Marimari Character Introduction

A mascot-like figure with large breasts hidden behind glasses, nicknamed Marimari. Milo's prophecy said, "In the end, you have to make your own decision." As if hinted at by that prophecy, she has an indecisive personality. She feels insecure about the prophecy, and her indecisiveness hasn't changed, but she also has a side to her that allows her to make decisions when it matters.

What kind of person is Marimari?

MariMari and Daisuke

She is generally passive and indecisive. She has had a fondness for Daisuke since childhood, and tries to understand his reckless behavior. She has a kind heart and dislikes conflict, making her a mascot for everyone.

Marimari's Achievements

Marimari is a Support Role

She's not very good at piloting puppets, and when she discovers the true identities of the Revisions, she becomes mentally unstable and refuses to pilot a puppet. However, she has a strong-willed side, as seen when she decides to pilot a puppet if it means she can help Daisuke. She's also quick-witted and quick to notice things that no one else notices, making her useful in other support roles.

【revisions】Summary of the Five High School Students

We've introduced the five main characters of Revisions! In this work, the foreshadowing of Milo's prophecy contributes to the development of the characters' personalities. There is a reason why Daisuke, who at first glance does not seem like the main character at all, is portrayed as the protagonist. The developments revealed towards the end are extremely interesting, so I highly recommend watching until the end!!
