Revisions has been airing since winter 2019. Set in Shibuya, a place transported more than 300 years into the future, the show depicts the battle against the mysterious enemy "Revisions" and the ensemble cast of people forced to live in extreme conditions. Here are five things you should know about Milo, the heroine of Revisions and a person from the future who sides with the protagonist!

[Revisions] Things You Should Know About Milo ① "Prophecy"

Milo Left Prophecies in the Past

Past Milo

Seven years before the start of the story, Milo appears before five people, including the protagonist. Milo rescues Daisuke, who has been kidnapped by a mysterious figure. He then leaves a prophecy for each of them, and some characters' lives are greatly influenced by that prophecy. However, there are discrepancies in the memories of the four characters, excluding Luu, and it seems that each received a different prophecy.

What is the prophecy?

Milo Leaves a Prophecy

The prophecy for Daisuke Dojima was, "A great crisis will come, and when that happens, you will be the one who can protect everyone." Daisuke blindly believed this prophecy, which would greatly change his fate. The prophecy for Gai was, "Question everything." Keisaku Asano was, "Accept everything." Marimari was, "Make your own decision in the end." However, only Luu did not remember the contents of the prophecy.

[revisions] Things You Should Know About Milo ② "Arv"

What affiliation does Milo belong to?

Communicating Miro

In the year 2338, Miro belongs to an organization called the Arve, which is in conflict with an organization called the Revisions. The Arve's official name stands for "Anti-Historical Revisionism." The conflict between the Revisions and the Arve arose from a pandemic caused by the deadly RV virus, which spread across Earth, dividing humanity into those with and without antibodies to the virus. The RV virus no longer exists, and only the conflict remains.

Milo Gives a Puppet

The Arves anticipate Shibuya's time travel to 2338, and give the people of Shibuya "String Puppets," powered suits that only five high school students can use, selected as a fighting force against the Revisions. However, there are some puzzling aspects to the Arves' decision to share their valuable fighting power, and it's clear that they have their own motives.

The Arves were also using Daisuke and his friends!?

Daisuke and Miro

The Shibuya teleport was caused by the Revisions, who needed material (living humans with antibodies) to survive, but the Arves knew about it and ignored it. What's worse, they were using the opportunity to test a new weapon. In other words, the people of Shibuya were simply caught in the crossfire, and it was actually a conflict between humans. I think the reason they specifically selected five pilots was because "there was no one qualified," or "it was a way to conserve the Arves' human resources," or "it was a prototype, so it would be dangerous to use it right away."

[Revisions] Things You Need to Know About Milo, Part 3: "Balancer"

Milo Can Travel to the Past

Milo with a Quantum Brain

Milo holds the position of Balancer within the Arves. Milo possesses a quantum brain that allows him to interfere with chaos orbits, essentially allowing him to travel to the past if the conditions are met. This means that the Milo that Daisuke and the other five encountered in the past came from the future, but when Daisuke and the others arrived in the future, Milo did not know about them. In other words, the Milo they encountered in the future was the Milo before he traveled to the past.

A Gruesome Past

Child Milo

Milo's parents and siblings have already been killed by the Revisions. Because the Revisions require normal human cells to survive, they have killed many humans. The number of victims reaches one billion, including Milo's family. The current human strength of the Arves is only about 100,000, demonstrating just how formidable the Revisions are.

Even his sister was a victim

Child Milo and Milo's sister (deceased)

Having survived a collapsed world, he acts loyally to the organization, rarely considering history. His inflexibility is thought to stem from the fact that loyalty to the organization's machinery is a means to survival, and he gives off a very different impression from the Milo Daisuke and his friends first encountered.

[Revisions] Things You Should Know About Miro ⑤ "How to Enjoy the Series Even More"

Miro Acts Based on Future Predictions

Miro's First Time Pilot

In episode 1, Miro appears before Daisuke and utters an interesting line. After saving Daisuke and Marimari, he says, "So it was just as predicted." At that time, however, Miro had not met Daisuke and the others in the past. Miro was acting based on the organization's "future predictions," and by time-jumping back in time, he predicted he would meet Daisuke and the others.

The words Milo said caused this...

Milo's Harsh Words

However, something unexpected happens to Milo. The five selected high school students, especially Daisuke Dojima, lack cooperation and act selfishly. Milo, speaking for the viewers, harshly remarks, "I don't believe you're worthy of my family and friends risking their lives to protect you!" However, Milo must have acted according to the Arve's predictions of the future. In other words, what happened should have happened as predicted!? Keeping this contradiction in mind will help you enjoy the film even more.

【Revisions】What You Need to Know About Milo

This time, I introduced Milo, the protagonist's ally and heroine (sort of) in Revisions. While the beginning and middle of the film are lacking and frustrating, the final version is packed with excitement that will blow away that stress. So, please be sure to watch it all the way to the end. Honestly, I know you'll want to cut it, but it would be a shame to do so.
