"Peach Boy Riverside" was originally posted to the webcomic posting site "Shintosha" by a cool fan of Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, and was later remade for Shonen Magazine R with illustrations by John. It's a battle fantasy based on the story of Momotaro, who, after killing all the demons in Japan, travels to the outside world to exterminate them. An anime adaptation of "Peach Boy Riverside" will air in July 2021! Today, we'd like to introduce the main characters of this work!

Sally and her companions: Sartheline Aldike

Sally

The protagonist of this work. She was a princess living in the small kingdom of Aldyk, longing for the outside world. However, when her kingdom was attacked by demons and Kibitsu Mikoto arrived and gleefully slaughtered the demons, she decided to set out on a journey to see the outside world. After meeting Mikoto, the rabbit Frau, and the demon Carrot, she set her sights on doing something about the current situation in which humans, demons, and demi-humans are at odds and killing each other. She's an idealist, and her beliefs are often described as shallow, and she's fully aware of this. Her nickname is Sally, but her real name, Saltrine, can be broken down into monkey, bird, and dog. She's one of the companions from a certain fairy tale.

Alternate Personality of Sally

When confronted by demons, she transforms into a violent and sadistic character. Demons' powers have no effect on her, and she overpowers them with her incredible strength, gleefully slaughtering them. However, she has no memory of this experience.

Sally and her companions: Frau

Frau

Uto meets Sally and becomes her first companion. Having experienced clear discrimination in his life, he hits it off with Sally, who doesn't discriminate against him, and they become reliable companions. Since she's a rabbit wearing a sailor uniform, she's inspired by Tsukino Usagi from Sailor Moon. While she's strong even without a suit, she can revive even if her upper body is blown off, and when she unleashes her power, she can instantly defeat even high-ranking demons. However, it seems she pays a price for this.

Sally and her companions: Carrot/Meki

Carrot

A demon who attacked Rimdar alongside Seto. A high-ranking demon known as a "Takaoni," he fights using both the Onibou and the Sendo techniques. He confronts Mikoto in Rimdar and is defeated by her overwhelming strength. However, he is not killed. Instead, his horns and eyes, the source of his Meki's power, are destroyed, causing him to lose his demonic powers and become almost indistinguishable from a human. He is later captured underground in Rimdar, but is rescued by Sally and Frau and joins the group. Initially, he tries to survive by using Sally and the others, but his feelings change as he continues his journey.

Sally and her party: Hawthorne Gratol

Hawthorne

Commander of the Rimdar Knights. Though he achieved his current position at a young age through hard work, he remains a weakling within the party. However, his mental strength and skills, cultivated through hard work, are extremely high, allowing him to compete with high-ranking demons if he can find a way to make up for the difference in ability. More than that, he acts as a big brother figure, leading the party together and providing the unsung hero. While leaving Rimdar to pursue Sally and Frau, who had escaped with Carrot, Rimdar was wiped out by a blow from the Blue-Faced Demon. In despair, he decides to join Sally and her party.

Mikoto and his party: Kibitsu Mikoto

Mikoto

After slaying all the demons in Japan, a boy comes to hunt demons abroad, as he has heard that there are demons abroad as well. At first glance, he appears to be a woman, but he is in fact a man. He possesses a special power against demons, making him overwhelmingly powerful against them. However, he has a strong hatred for demons, and when he kills them, he does so with glee, regardless of whether they can communicate with him or not. His origins and past are complicated, and he has lived with deep conflict and anguish, which has left him mentally unstable.

Mikoto and Her Party: Dog

Dog

This talking dog watches over Mikoto as her guardian, and is actually the very dog from the famous Momotaro story. He traveled with Kibitsuhiko, who was born in Japan through the power of a peach, and accompanied him on his painstaking journey to slay all the demons rampant throughout Japan. He was also with Kibitsuhiko when he retired and raised Mikoto, the child of a demon and a human. During the battle between Kibitsuhiko-no-Mikoto and Nobrega, he tries to stop Mikoto from going to the battlefield, but is unable to stop her. He then travels across the sea with Mikoto, who inherited the power of the peach.

Mikoto and her companions: Sister Milia/Hakki

Milia

A middle demon known as the Hair Demon. He breaks the seal on the Tree Demon in the Western Forest and fights Sally, but is punched in the stomach by Sally, who has awakened the power of the peach. He then escapes during the confusion of the battle with the Tree Demon, but when he reappears, he has lost his memory. Later, when he was nearly killed by Chuu, a pursuer, he regained his memories, but was saved by a life-risking beggar in front of Mikoto, completely breaking off his horns. From then on, he traveled with Mikoto.

Gouki's Gang - Gouki

Gouki

A young demon boy who can control lightning. He adores the Eye Demon and attacks Balquend to kill Sally, who he thought had killed the Eye Demon. He mistakes Hawthorne for Sally and begins a fight. He uses his demonic powers to gain the upper hand, but with the intervention of the witch Winnie, he is defeated by Hawthorne, who has obtained Frau's "Air." Although the misunderstanding about Megani is later cleared up, he is killed by Sumeragi as if he is no longer needed. In reality, he is saved by the power of the Minmiki, and from then on, he seeks a path to reconciliation differently from Sally and the others.

Toujou and the Party: Crow

Crow

A former Demon King. In order to regain his original body and name, he appears before Frau in the form of a black rabbit and attacks Sally and her party. He devours Frau and regains his body and name, but Sally drags Frau out of his body. He then challenges Sumeragi, who used him, to a fight, but his strength has barely returned, and he is defeated and disappears. In reality, he was saved by the power of the Sleeping Demon, but he lost his Demon King powers and took on the form of a black rabbit. Afterward, he somehow ended up joining Todoroki's party and eventually became the team's leader.

Todoroki's Party: Sleeping Demon

Yuki

This demon is always slumbering. Since few people are awake, his mysterious nature is shrouded in mystery, but his powers are a wide-ranging sleep magic. It's said that those put to sleep have nightmares. Furthermore, his powers are not limited to sleep magic; he was able to heal Todoroki, who was fatally wounded by Sumeragi, and Crow, who was defeated by Sumeragi, demonizing his exceptional abilities.

Toujou Gang: Yuuki

Damin Oni

A flashy demon. Narcissistic and attention-seeking, he has a deep affection for his friends. He chases Sally and her friends around to stand out, and despite constantly being knocked away, he keeps appearing again and again, using his natural toughness as a weapon. However, after realizing that reconciliation between humans and demons is the best way for him to stand out, he seeks coexistence with humans in a way different from Sally. Before he knew it, he had become a member of the Toujou Gang. In fact, he also has excellent combat abilities. He played the role of rear guard in the battle with Mikoto to spare his friends, and still survived. He's a skilled cook and a multi-talented person. Apparently, it makes him look cooler.

Toujou and his gang: A little demon

A little demon

A palm-sized mini demon. He's particularly weak among the demons, the weakest of them all, unable to even defeat a normal human. Because of his weakness, he stands out among the other demons, and only Eye Demon and Toujou take notice of him. After being left behind by Toujou because he couldn't keep up with the fight, he pursues Toujou and the others on his own, until he is picked up by Yuuki and becomes his partner.

Toujou's Vampire

Vampire

A demon acquaintance of Carrot. A blood-sucking demon, he was involved in an incident where he drained the blood of a young woman. Because he looked exactly like a human, he once intermingled with humans and even married them. However, he was unable to resist his demon instincts and ended up killing his wife. He was powerful enough to instantly kill Frau, but was pierced through the heart by the resurrected Frau and died. However, thanks to Heaven's intervention, he was later resurrected and became a member of Toujou's group, tasked with watching over Crow.
