"Peach Boy Riverside" is a work serialized on an online manga posting site by Cool Kyoshinsha, the creator of Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid. It has been remade in Shonen Magazine R with a new illustrator, and will be adapted into an anime starting in July 2021. It is a fantasy based on the story of Momotaro, who slaughters all the demons in Japan and then travels across the sea to slay demons overseas as well. The story is about slaying demons and trying to coexist with those who can understand, and because of the subject matter, many demons appear. So, we've put together a list of the various demons that appear in this work!
Taka Oni: Meki (Taka Oni) / Carrot
A female oni who attacked the Kingdom of Rimdar. She uses two attack methods, Sendo and Oniho, by floating her eyes in the air. Using Oniho transforms her into a loli for a certain period of time. She fights Mikoto in the Kingdom of Rimdar, but is defeated. Her eyes and horns, the source of her power, are broken, and she loses most of her strength. However, she is spared and spared. She is later rescued by Sally and her companions and becomes part of their traveling party. She attempts to use Sally and her companions, but her attitude changes as she travels with them, and she begins to truly trust them.
Taka Oni Seto
A walrus-shaped demon. He attacks the Rimdar Kingdom with the Eye Demon, overpowering the soldiers and Frau with his overwhelming strength, but is easily defeated by Sally, who has awakened the power of her peach. While merciless towards the weak, he is a demon with a strong martial spirit, praising Frau for fighting on equal terms with him.
High Demon: Somenki
This masked demon instantly wiped out Hawthorne's hometown, the Kingdom of Rimdar. He attempted to wipe out the surviving Sally and the powerless Carrot, but was stopped by Sumeragi and left the scene. He was then attacked by Mikoto in a near-surprise attack, revealing only his mask.
Taka Oni Sumeragi
One of the most powerful Taka Oni. Dressed as a traveling pastor, he advocates coexistence between humans and demons. He has a gentle personality and even proposed reconciliation to Sally. He led a group of demons that advocates coexistence with humans. While he may seem approachable at first glance, Sumeragi's own agenda lies hidden within. He sends demons as assassins to attack Sally and her group, and ruthlessly kills his own kind. He also harbors a violent side. His inner thoughts are unreadable, he works in the shadows, and while he claims to be a supporter of coexistence, he also tries to eliminate those in the support, making him a completely untrustworthy person. He has gathered demons together for a meeting called the Hyakkikai 672 times. He doesn't engage in power harassment, but he does engage in moral harassment. The Pleasure Club. McGillis. Taka Oni Vampire
A demon who sucks the blood of women every night in a certain town. He is an acquaintance of the Megane, and at Megane's request, he fights alongside Sally and her friends. Although he manages to blow off Frau's upper body, he is killed when she somehow revives and pierces his heart. In fact, he once hid his demon identity and lived among humans. He was married, but one day, his demon instincts led him to kill his wife. After his death, he is resurrected by heaven's will to watch over Crow and joins Todoroki's group.
Middle Demon: Hair Demon (Hakki) / Sister Miria
A female demon dressed in a nun's habit. She can control her hair and attacks Sally and her friends in the western forest where Winnie lives. During the attack, she attempts to kill her acquaintance, Carrot, along with them. At the same time, she also unsealed the Tree Demon. Once the Tree Demon was defeated, she disappeared, but when she reappeared, she had lost her memory. She was protected by Mikoto, but was nearly killed by Chu, who appeared as a pursuer. Mikoto tried to watch, thinking it was a battle between demons, so Millia managed to escape the predicament by cutting off her own horns and begging for her life. Afterward, she lost her demonic powers, but she ended up accompanying Mikoto on her journey.
Taka Oni - Tree Demon
The Tree Demon, sealed by Winnie. When Millia unsealed it, it was even more powerful than when it was sealed. Sally proposes coexistence between humans and demons, but he doesn't listen to her proposal and is defeated by Sally as they are completely incompatible enemies.
Middle Demon: Nameless Demon (Chu)
A nameless demon, he was sent to capture Kamioni, but upon learning that Kamioni had lost his memory, he attempted to kill him. However, Mikoto's interference prevented this. After that, he worked with Sumeragi, and after participating in a martial arts tournament with his demon powers sealed away, he gained pride as a swordsman. Despite being a demon that is not normally required to work hard, he began to strive to become stronger. Sumeragi gave him the nickname Chu.
Jocelino, the Faced Demon
A demon with particularly powerful powers. He has the ability to create demons, and he created the Blue-Faced Demon, which instantly destroyed the Kingdom of Rimdar. He appears as a young girl dressed in a Japanese-style hat and kimono. He often asks Chu and Hawthorne for piggyback rides and has a childlike personality. He has grown attached to Hawthorne since their first meeting in Balquend, but the Blue-Faced Demon created by Jocelino is the one who destroyed Hawthorne's hometown.
Taka Oni Gouki
A young demon with the ability to control thunder. He adores Megane, and after Sumeragi tells him that Megane was killed by Momotaro, he attacks Balquendo to avenge him. He mistakes Hawthorne for Megane's enemy and challenges him to a fight, but is defeated thanks to the intervention of the witch Winnie. Since Megane was not actually dead, the misunderstanding is cleared up, but Sumeragi pierces his chest as if to say he is no longer needed. However, he is saved by Danminki, and thereafter sets out on his own to pursue coexistence between humans and demons.
Taka Oni Basu
A bird-like demon that attacked Balquend alongside Todoroki. He engaged in combat with Frau, and was defeated at first by a close-range Oni Cannon, but was killed when one of his wings was severed by remnants of Atlas's power.
Middle Demon: Shinki
A giant demon with stretchable arms. A rubber demon. Because of his appearance, humans treat him like a monster, and other demons treat him like a nuisance. Todoroki and his friends are his only place of refuge, and Shinki feels that coexistence with humans is impossible. Although he is a reasonable demon, Shinki knows that if Todoroki finds out that Megane is still alive, he will lean toward coexistence, so he fights Megane to protect his place in the world. He is defeated and mortally wounded when his Onihou is used as a bluff, but in the end, he entrusts Todoroki to Megane and dies.
Taka Oni: Lazy Sleeping Demon
This NEET demon sleeps all day, and it's rare to see him awake. If someone approaches him while he's sleeping, he'll use sleep magic to put them to sleep, causing them to have nightmares. In addition to his sleep magic, he also rescues Todoroki, who was pierced through the chest by Sumeragi, and even rescues Crow, who was defeated by Sumeragi.
Taka Oni Yuuki
A flashy demon who puts all his energy into standing out. He clings to Sally because she stands out more than him, and each time he does, he's blown away and turned into a star, making him a bit of a nuisance. However, he is also kind-hearted and considerate of those around him. He puts his life on the line for his friends, and is actually a capable person, able to avoid being killed in a fight with Mikoto and allow his friends to escape. Because he's cool and stands out, he decides to pursue coexistence between Sally's demons and humans in a different way, and later joins Todoroki's party. He's a great cook.
Low Demon, Slightly Demon
A minuscule demon, about the size of Issunboshi. He's particularly weak, even among demons, and can't even defeat a human. He's an outsider among the demons, who tend to value power above all else, and no one pays him any attention except Todoroki and Megane. While chasing Todoroki, he meets Yuuki, and becomes Yuuki's partner.
Rank Unknown: Kibitsu Mikoto
Kibitsu Mikoto, also known as Momotaro, hates demons with all his heart and slaughters them with a maniacal grin. He's the other main character. A man. Starting with saving Sally's country, Mikoto is a somewhat strange boy who enjoys slicing up every demon he comes across. However, Mikoto's circumstances are quite complicated. His father is a demon, and like vampires, his father also has a human wife. However, unable to resist his demon instincts, he devours his wife, prompting the previous Momotaro to kill him. Mikoto is half demon, half human. Being half demon and half human, he is treated with a cloudy disposition, but his cloudy disposition continues.
