"No Guns Life," an anime series that began airing in October 2019, is currently garnering a lot of attention for its unique worldview, unique characters, and unpredictable plot. The animated series adds movement and sound, making it even more compelling to watch. This time, we'll introduce Tetsuro Arata, a key character in the story. The Intruder
Six minutes and 40 seconds into the first episode, the story moves forward at a rapid pace! Then, a gigantic Hannya augmented being appeared, too big to even fit into the office. It appears to have broken through a window. A boy near the office had been kidnapped by a rampaging augmented being, resulting in a death and causing a commotion. This Hannya augmented being is actually Tetsuro Arahabaki, whom I'll be introducing today. It wasn't what you expected, was it? (lol)

The boy causing the commotion was being held by the Hannya augmented being. He was unconscious and limp. The Hannya augmented being didn't kill anyone! He asks Juzo Inui to hide the boy. Sensing an unusual atmosphere, Juzo agrees, but this boy is actually a key character in the story. Juzo carries the boy and heads to a certain location.
Arata Tetsuro's Background
Background
This is the boy who was unconscious earlier. He regained consciousness after being sheltered and treated by Juzo Inui and his friends. The Hannya augmented being was nothing more than a puppet controlled by the boy using new augmentation technology. He escaped from a certain place using a special ability. The boy controlling Hannya's augmentation is none other than Tetsuro Arata! So far, Tetsuro Arata is the only one in this world who can use this ability.
Harmonie
That ability is a remote control device for augmentation bodies called "Harmonie." This device is implanted in Tetsuro Arata's throat. In fact, implanting this "Harmonie" destroyed Tetsuro Arata's throat, causing him to lose his voice. When they first meet, the tendons in his limbs have been severed multiple times, apparently to prevent him from escaping and to increase his compatibility with Harmonie. It's incredibly inhumane, isn't it? In other words, Tetsuro Arata was being used as a test subject for Harmonie experiments. It's no wonder he wanted to run away.
Beruehren Corporation
In fact, the son of the president of Veruehren Corporation has been missing for about a year. That person is Tetsuro Arata. Tetsuro Arata was a rich kid. As you can see in the image, he was 12 years old at the time, which means he's only 13. Veruehren is a large corporation that developed and expanded the body augmentation technology that has become commonplace in the world today. If their son were to go missing, you'd expect them to demand money, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Behind the scenes, they were conducting inhumane experiments on many children.
Movement of Limbs
After repeatedly cutting the tendons in his limbs, Tetsuro Arata lost the ability to move. Mary Steinberg then performed a body augmentation procedure, which allowed him to move again. Even Mary Steinberg, as expected, was powerless to fix his throat, so he continued to communicate using Harmonie. However, he later meets Mary's brother, Victor Steinberg, who performs a physical function augmentation on him, allowing him to speak. The conversation scenes up to that point were incredibly surreal, and I loved them (lol).
Tetsuro Arata's Personality
Sense of Justice
In fact, Tetsuro Arata has no memory of what happened about a year ago. So, he doesn't even know who he is or where he came from. However, despite being subjected to various inhumane experiments, he strongly insists on helping the children involved. What an incredible sense of justice! While most people would choose to stay out of the way, Tetsuro Arata devotes all his energy to helping children who are suffering just like him.
A True Rich Boy
Using Harmonie, he takes over Juzo Inui and remotely controls him, trying to save the children who have been victimized. However, in addition to his amnesia, he is also a true rich boy, so he is unfamiliar with the area and often enters places he shouldn't. And because an over-augmented person like Juzo Inui is rare, he was targeted. This is something we can't just ignore. He's still only 13 years old.
The Secret of Tetsuro Arata
Spitsbergen
In Volume 5 of the manga, Tetsuro Arata is captured by Spitzbergen, a terrorist group that advocates against augmentation technology. During this time, he meets someone who knew Tetsuro Arata before he was implanted with body augmentation technology. It turns out that Tetsuro Arata had actually provided financial support to Spitzbergen. That's an incredible fact!
Traitor
Originally, Tetsuro Arata was the son of the CEO of Veruehren, a company that develops and promotes body augmentation technology. It's only natural that his son would anger Spitzbergen, a company with opposing views and an anti-augmentation technology stance. While we don't know why he cooperated, it's clear that it was a significant source of funding. This is Tetsuro Arata's true nature.
Who is Tetsuro Arata's voice?
Daiki Yamashita
This is Daiki Yamashita, the voice of Tetsuro Arata. He's played many young roles, often leading roles! He's extremely popular, so you won't go a day without hearing his voice! His motivation for becoming a voice actor came from Koichi Yamadera, famous for his role as Genie in the hit anime "Aladdin." He's so famous there's no need to explain (lol), and the voice actor he aspires to be is Yamaguchi Kappei. He's famous for his roles as Kudo Shinichi in Detective Conan, Inuyasha, and Tombo in Kiki's Delivery Service. Yamashita Daiki, who says he wants to continue as a voice actor while still retaining the heart of a boy, actually turned 30 this year. He looks young, doesn't he? His acting skills are outstanding, and he has a unique voice that you won't forget once you've heard it. Be sure to keep an eye on him.
