After the first season of BokuYaba aired in 2023, the second season was confirmed and is scheduled to air in January 2024! The first season was a high-quality romantic comedy that was so intense it felt like I was about to explode while watching, and I'm really looking forward to the second season! This time, we'll be looking back at episodes 7 through 12 of the first season!

Episode 7: We've Switched Bodies

Episode 7①

For some reason, Ichikawa and Yamada end up running together during gym class. However, when they take off their jerseys after the run, they end up switching bodies. If it were discovered that Yamada was wearing Ichikawa's jersey, Yamada's value would be diminished. Furthermore, if Ichikawa were to wear Yamada's jersey, he might be branded a pervert... Ichikawa is forced to spend the whole day in short sleeves in the cold. Will he be able to change his jersey without being noticed?

Episode 7②

Episode 7②

Ichikawa is now seated diagonally behind Yamada after a seating arrangement. Next to him is Hara. Ichikawa is grateful for this arrangement. However, due to Yamada's height and Ichikawa's shortness, Yamada can't see the blackboard at all. Even though Hara-san, who is kind, sits next to him and shows him his notebook, Yamada becomes a little upset. Ichikawa doesn't like the idea of Yamada blocking his view of the blackboard. He wants to tell Yamada somehow, but he can't bring himself to tell him that he can't see because Yamada is too tall. He carefully chooses his words to convey this to Yamada. As a result, he ends up saying something embarrassing: "I can only see Yamada during class."

Episode 7③

Episode 7③

Yamada is going to appear in a movie! The actors and director appearing in the film are well-known, and the class is buzzing with talk about it, but Yamada looks gloomy. You might think he doesn't want people to talk about it too much, but when the topic comes up in the library, he takes the bait. It seems Yamada wanted people to hear more about his role and things like that. He apparently only has one line, and that line is "seriously gross." When they practice their lines in the library, they get some really strange looks, so they decide to practice alone in a small, empty room.

Episode 8: I Had a Dream

Episode 8①

Kobayashi-san comes to the library! She says that Yamada has been talking about Ichikawa a lot lately, and her introverted side kicks in, wondering if Ichikawa is being made fun of behind his back. When Kobayashi continues to share stories of Yamada's eccentric behavior, Ichikawa can't help but burst out laughing. He notices that while he usually doesn't laugh and speaks flustered in front of girls, he smiles and speaks normally in front of Yamada. Meanwhile, when Kobayashi gets too close to Ichikawa, Yamada grabs him by the shoulder and tries to pull him away. From a third-person perspective, Ichikawa and Yamada seem to be getting along much better than they did at the beginning.

Episode 8②

Episode 8②

For Ichikawa, the three-way meeting is already a dreaded event, but what's worse, the people sitting next to him waiting in line are Yamada and Yamada's mother. Yamada's mother is a beautiful woman who truly seems like Yamada's mother, but unlike her daughter, she has a strict personality and scolds Yamada for her posture. Ichikawa was so embarrassed when she saw Ichikawa's mother correct her posture, he couldn't go along with it. After a series of twists and turns, Yamada and Ichikawa become friendly, and it seemed like Ichikawa's embarrassing event would end without incident... Also, Adachi's mother turns out to be a young mother.

Episode 8③

Episode 8③

He started riding his bike, thinking it would be okay if it was just a light rain, but the moment it started pouring... Ichikawa is feeling gloomy, thinking his life is always like this, when he happens to bump into Yamada on his way home. Ichikawa has forgotten his raincoat, and Yamada wants to give him something to protect him from the rain, but all he has is a plastic bag. He can't wear a plastic bag over his head, so they end up parting ways. However, Yamada has left her shopping bags in her bicycle basket—including sanitary products—so Ichikawa makes an effort to chase after her.

Episode 8, Part 4

Episode 8, Part 4

As a result of overexerting himself, Ichikawa catches a cold and collapses. He has to stay home from school and is watching TV alone when Yamada comes to visit him. Confused by the unexpected visitor, Ichikawa invites him into his home, only to collapse in his room. Yamada nurses him back to health, but Ichikawa loses track of what is dream and what is reality. He suddenly finds himself being nursed back to health by his sister.

Episode 9: I Hate Yamada

Episode 9①

"Ichikawa, do you use LINE?" Yamada asks, and continues to flirt with him on LINE. Ichikawa has no idea what Yamada is trying to do. Then, in the classroom, one of the girls, a gyaru named Sekine, mentions wanting a boyfriend, which leads to Ichikawa finding out the LINE IDs of all the boys in the class. When Sekine easily obtains Ichikawa's LINE ID, Yamada somehow looks at him with murderous eyes. Ichikawa doesn't understand what's going on, but when Yamada asks another boy, "Do you use LINE?", he realizes with a start that Yamada's strange behavior was an attempt to get his LINE ID. Ichikawa is completely oblivious to his own affairs.

Episode 9②

Episode 9②

One day, the outgoing senior Nanjo (Nanpai), who has his eye on Yamada, is blocked by Kobayashi as he tries to talk to her. However, Kobayashi, who boasts an ironclad guard against Yamada, is actually very easy to fool! By inviting him mainly through Kobayashi, Yamada is in danger of putting the proverb ``who wants to shoot the general should first shoot the horse'' into practice, and he understands this as well. However, Yamada can't say the same... Later, when he encounters Nanpai in the library, Yamada approaches Ichikawa with all his might. Nanpai used Kobayashi to get close to Yamada, but Ichikawa suspects that Yamada may have also used him to get away from Nanjo-senpai.

Episode 9③

Episode 9③

Yamada was using him... Convinced of this, Ichikawa didn't even go to the library, and a few days passed. Then, Yamada called out to him, crying. Ichikawa knew Yamada wasn't like that. But he thought she just wanted a reason to hate him, since she'd never have it, and was afraid of growing fonder. Yamada then gave him a hug to make up, and they happily walked home together.

Episode 10: We Walked Slowly

Episode 10①

The differences between school and outside only intensify his desire to die.

Their thrilling date reached its climax, and the two were walking home. Yamada apologized for leading Ichikawa to an inappropriate location and messing him around, but he awkwardly explained that he wasn't the type to turn down requests, that he'd just say no if he didn't want to, and that he'd had a great time today. Then, a magnificent display of illuminations appeared before his eyes. Ichikawa had never realized how beautiful illuminations could be. Afterward, they held hands on the train ride home to avoid getting separated, and the two continued walking home hand in hand.

Four days before, Ichikawa and his family had come to his parents' hometown in Akita. On their date, Ichikawa had promised Yamada that he'd send her photos of the snowy scenery of Akita. While taking the photos, he slipped down a slope on a snowy road with poor footing and broke his arm. When Yamada called him on a video call, his sister found out about him. You'd think he'd find out and become obsessed with her, but that didn't happen. His older sister was being considerate, thinking her younger brother had an unrequited love affair. However, when she found out that the girl who came to visit her was Yamada, she assumed he was interested in her and immediately started to bother him.
