The second season of Bokuyaba, which aired as an anime in spring 2023, has been confirmed, and its broadcast date is fast approaching! The Bokuyaba anime had perfect casting and perfectly captured the essence of the original work! If the second season is broadcast at the same level, it will undoubtedly be an entertaining anime! So, before the long-awaited second season begins, I'd like to take a look back at the content of the first season!
Episode 1: I Was Stolen
Ichikawa Kyotaro is a self-proclaimed crazy second-year middle school student. He's a dangerous guy who fantasizes about killing classmates he doesn't like... In other words, he's a short, introverted, middle school second-year boy with a complex. The person Ichikawa most wants to kill is his classmate, Anna Yamada. She's tall, outgoing, a magazine model, and the most eye-catching, sparkling girl in the class...no, the entire school. If a girl like this were a classmate in real life, it wouldn't be surprising if a boy with a low self-esteem, a nerd, or a chuunibyou, felt something akin to hatred. Ichikawa is a nerd, a chuunibyou, but he seems like someone you could meet in real life.
Episode 1②
Ichikawa, the "representative of nerds," and Yamada, the "ultimate extrovert." At first glance, these two people never seem to cross paths. The two eventually meet in the library, where Yamada, of all people, begins humming and eating sweets. This eccentric behavior is hard to believe for a typical extrovert! Ichikawa is perplexed! Yamada is a hungry, laid-back girl who brings sweets to school and eats them secretly.
Episode 1③
After all this, Ichikawa becomes involved with Yamada, but when he sees her shining as a reader model, he realizes that they really do live in different worlds. But the next day, he sees Yamada looking a little annoyed when an extroverted senior approaches her. Ichikawa, who can't help but be curious about Yamada, can't ignore her troubles. However, as a nerd, he's not the type to jump in on that conversation, nor does he have the courage to do so. So, Ichikawa decides to throw his bike! He's clumsy, but he's capable of taking action.
Episode 2: I Want to Hug You
Anna Yamada, the woman I most want to kill, has come to my haven (the library) again today. There, she's making a nerunerunerune! However, Neru-Neru-Neru-Neru, which requires water to make, was not suitable for making in the library. The container for Neru-Neru-Neru-Neru's water is small, and Yamada spills the water. Ichikawa rushes to help. He goes all the way to the home economics room to get a beaker, but Yamada solves the problem with a powerful play: he pours water directly from the tap into it. Ichikawa is handed the Neru-Neru-Neru-Neru-Ne container after eating. I don't need it... No, I need it! I need it like crazy!
Episode 2②
Yamada is part of a group of outgoing girls and is very close friends with Kobayashi Chihiro, who often looks after her. However, Yamada always eats sweets alone. As she was eating sweets in the library as usual, she suddenly hid under a desk. Then, when she had Ichikawa sit down for camouflage, Kobayashi came running over, looking angry. Yamada seemed to be being considerate of Chihiro's snack allergy. That aside, Ichikawa, feeling Yamada's body heat from close range, had to rush to the bathroom...
Episode 2③
In the school festival preparation episode, Ichikawa works with his classmate Hara to create a backdrop for a haunted house. However, the classmates are shocked when they see Yamada's name among the gravestones written in the backdrop. Of course, Hara had no ill intentions and simply wrote a likely name, but he's not there at the time and can't explain. If things continue like this, the girls will become tense, but Ichikawa, a shy and socially awkward person, doesn't know what to do. Unable to say anything clever, Ichikawa blurts out things that don't make sense. What a clumsy guy...! But Yamada is watching!
Episode 3: I'm Dead
Ichikawa is resting in a bed in the nurse's office with a fever. However, Yamada is sleeping soundly next to him. Yamada is resting in the nurse's office with a stomachache, and he shares some medicine for Ichikawa's headache. Then, in the nurse's bathroom, he finds a cup that appears to have been used by Yamada to drink from! He must use that cup to take the medicine. This is where Ichikawa's spirit is put to the test... But what's more, Yamada, who left the nurse's office earlier, has forgotten his gym clothes! Ichikawa's spirit is put to the test once again! However, due to the nurse's rough handling, Ichikawa ends up accidentally smelling her gym clothes...
Episode 3②
A classmate who loves dirty jokes tries to use a psychology test as an excuse to conduct an erotic psychology test to determine the girls' sexual proactivity. While Ichikawa, who is secretly listening, thinks it's ridiculous, he's at an age where he's curious about Yamada's reaction to the dirty jokes and the results of the psychology test! In the end, Yamada fails, but when he mistakes Ichikawa for taking his snacks in the library, he accidentally puts the psychology test into practice. Ichikawa writhes in agony, clutching his crotch. Perhaps it was too much for a middle school sophomore.
Episode 3, Part 3
Ichikawa struggles with his emotions during basketball class. It's clear that his thoughts and actions are no longer in sync!? One day, Yamada is hit in the face with a ball, causing him to bleed from the nose. Despite knowing he's behaving in a wrong way, Ichikawa heads to the nurse's office. While hiding, he sees Yamada crying on the phone to her mother, and for some reason, tears well up in his eyes. This is when Ichikawa realizes he's in love with Yamada.
Episode 4: I Have a Mental Illness
Ichikawa, who realized he liked her, said, "But it doesn't mean I want to date her or anything like that..." While Ichikawa was acting like an introvert, Yamada secretly hid the milk from school lunch and planned to make Pluche during lunch break! Wondering why he'd go to the trouble of making something so time-consuming, Yamada tried to pour the Pluche ingredients directly into a milk carton. Ichikawa stopped him and they ended up going to the home economics room, but the room was locked, so they went to the chemistry room instead. Will Ichikawa and Yamada be able to successfully complete Pluche?!
Episode 4②
Yamada was munching on some snacks in the library as usual when Kanabutani, a female student who had hit Yamada with a ball, appeared. Kanabutani was waiting for the right opportunity to apologize to Yamada. Ichikawa, sensing the situation, retreats, but is stopped by Yoshida, one of the girls who was standing guard outside the library. Yoshida and Kanabutani had been arguing a bit over Yamada being hit with a ball, but Yamada didn't know who hit him and didn't seem to care at all. Despite harboring mixed feelings about Yamada's airheadedness, Kanabutani manages to make amends.
Episode 4, Part 3
While Ichikawa is walking home from school, he happens to bump into Yamada coming out of a convenience store. Ichikawa has bought a new bike since the incident in the past, and Yamada asks for a ride. Ichikawa, an introvert, is confused, but he's not the type to say, "No way, you've got to be kidding me." Yamada tries to give Ichikawa a Popsicle he bought. Just when you think a Popsicle sharing event, a staple among the happy-go-lucky, happens, Yamada hands him a Popsicle lid! That's the kind of guy Yamada is.
Episode 4, Part 4
This is the first episode in which Yamada's older sister appears. While he's fairly close with his older sister, who's a college student, he feels embarrassed to be seen with his classmates. At school, Yamada becomes suspicious when candy wrappers are found in the library, causing a stir. He then blurts out, "I didn't throw them in the trash, so it's not me," and is called into the staff room. Ichikawa, who for some reason accompanied the group as an observer, indirectly called Yamada an idiot, saying, "Normally, I'll understand the intent of the question and answer, but some people just reflexively don't answer at face value." However, the teacher seemed pleased, saying it was the first time he'd seen Ichikawa talk so much.
Episode 5: We Got Separated
A boring career field trip. Ichikawa is invited by a group of guys who love dirty talk, but because they need to form a group of six, two of the boys split up, leaving Yamada's group of four and Hara's group of four... However, Kanzaki, a shaved-headed boy who wants to join Hara's group, is considered the better of the four and is on the verge of being placed in Yamada's group. Yamada and Ichikawa, who know the situation, devise a plan to get Kanzaki into Hara's group.
Episode 5②
Yamada and Hara were chatting about love in the library. Apparently, Kanzaki, a shaved-headed boy who likes chubby girls, hangs out with them, and Yamada is intrigued! Kanzaki is a perverted nerd, but surprisingly, he's highly rated by girls. If you ever had a boyfriend, what would you like to do? Ichikawa listens to the conversation in their usual spot, excitedly discussing the topic. Yamada apparently hasn't dated anyone. Afterward, Hara somehow suspects the relationship between Yamada and Ichikawa.
Episode 5③
The group visits Akita Shoten for a workplace tour. While there's a slight difference in enthusiasm between those who don't read manga and those who are interested, Ichikawa keeps a close eye on the original Baki manuscript. Yamada says she likes the shojo manga Kimiiro Octave and that it's the only one she reads, but Ichikawa, of course, hasn't read it. He misinterprets Kobayashi's words, "There's no way Ichikawa would read it," and in frustration, punches the wall in the bathroom. However, Yamada, who was waiting for Ichikawa to use the bathroom, realizes that everyone else has already left, so he rushes to the train platform, but is left behind.
Episode 6: I Melted
Ichikawa and Yamada are left behind by everyone else. Ichikawa feels a little lucky, but tells Yamada not to worry about it. Feeling responsible, Yamada bursts into tears, but Ichikawa's support brings her smile back. Then, while the two are riding the train together, Yamada clings to Ichikawa's backpack to keep them together. At this moment, Yamada starts talking about Hara-san and Kanzaki-kun's love life, and Ichikawa's head is on the verge of boiling!
Episode 6②
Ichikawa is told that since realizing he likes Yamada, he's started to enjoy going to school. However, the introverted Ichikawa is convinced that he'll end up being betrayed and hurt. One morning, Yamada is waiting for someone in front of the school gates. Ichikawa doesn't think Yamada is waiting for him, so he tries to ignore it, but it turns out that Yamada is actually waiting for him. His errand is to give him the shojo manga "Kimiiro Octave" that they were talking about the other day. After handing it over, they try to go to the classroom together, but Ichikawa, who doesn't realize it's him waiting at the school gate, points out, "No, you were waiting for someone, weren't you?" Yamada can't bring himself to say, "I was waiting for Ichikawa." This leaves Yamada feeling a bit confused.
Episode 6③
Ichikawa is confronted by Adachi, one of the boys in the dirty talk group, who recently spotted him being friendly with Yamada. While this might seem like the beginning of brutal bullying, Adachi, surprisingly innocent, seems to want to talk about love. Recently, Yamada and Ichikawa's relationship has also changed, with Ichikawa starting to enjoy school, but other relationships have also changed. However, Ichikawa is troubled by the topic of not being able to get off with someone he really likes (Ichikawa is a big fan of this), and he also feels uncomfortable with Yamada being looked at in a lewd manner.
Episode 6, Part 4
A sign prohibiting eating and drinking is posted in the library. Yamada wonders, "Why? I didn't do anything to leave any evidence. Did someone tell on me?" " Yamada and Ichikawa go to the teacher to find out why the notice was put up. It turns out that candy was found lying around the library. It turns out that Yamada was the culprit after all. But if that's the case, Yamada won't be coming to the library to eat sweets anymore. After all, that's what Yamada comes to the library for... Furthermore, when the teacher almost finds out, Ichikawa instinctively grabs Yamada's hand... But in the end, Yamada remains the same and doesn't stop eating sweets in the library.
[My Dangerous Wife] Season 1 Review Summary
I've looked back at the first season of My Dangerous Wife! The original manga had both comedy and romantic comedy elements, but the anime seemed to emphasize the romantic comedy even more! The voice actor casting was also fantastic, and I felt it was perfect! This time, I'm summarizing episodes 1 through 6, but I also have a summary from episode 7, so please check that out too!
