"Laid-Back Camp△" is a story about high school girls who enjoy camping. In addition to the original manga, it has also been adapted into an anime, movie, and live-action drama, and is extremely popular. The recent camping boom has been largely influenced by this series. The third season of the anime is scheduled to air in April 2024, and it's already generating a lot of buzz. Story Summary
Shima Rin, a high school girl who enjoys solo camping, enjoys a winter camping trip at the foot of Mount Fuji during the off-season. That same day, she falls asleep and is late returning home, leading to the rescue of Kagamihara Nadeshiko, who is stranded. Meeting Rin sparks Nadeshiko's interest in camping, and she joins the "Outdoor Activities Club" (commonly known as No-Kuru) at her high school, where she begins camping with the other members. Although Rin prefers to go it alone and initially turned down Nadeshiko's invitation, she gradually deepens her relationship with Nadeshiko and her friends through social media.
5th Place: Ena Saito
Ranked fifth is Ena Saito. She's been Shima Rin's friend since middle school, and often supports Rin, who struggles with socializing. While she can be a bit nosy, Rin herself doesn't seem to mind. Through Rin, she met Nadeshiko Kagamihara, and they became close friends. She was the only main character who had no connection to camping, but after participating in Christmas camp, she started going camping with the members of the Outdoor Club. She's become increasingly popular as she spends more time with Nadeshiko and Rin. She has a pet dog named "Chikuwa," whom she dotes on.
4th Place: Chiaki Ogaki
Ranked fourth is Chiaki Ogaki. She's a real mood maker, and together with Aoi Inuyama, she founded the "Outdoor Activities Club" and serves as its president. She's cheerful and easygoing, but because of this, Rin, who is her polar opposite, initially dislikes her and keeps her distance. However, they gradually become more comfortable with each other, and at first Rin calls her by her last name, "Ogaki," but later she starts calling her by her first name, "Chiaki." After Nadeshiko joins, the club begins to seriously organize camping activities, and she is proactive, even working part-time to raise funds. Perhaps because she knows the importance of money from her part-time job, she is cautious when it comes to buying camping equipment. On the other hand, when she heard that Ena had bought a sleeping bag that cost 45,000 yen, she was so shocked that she got a nosebleed.
3rd Place: Aoi Inuyama
Ranked third is Aoi Inuyama. She was one of the original members of the Outdoor Activities Club, founding them with Chiaki Ogaki. She speaks in Kansai dialect and has a gentle demeanor. She plays the role of a sensible person, keeping Chiaki and Nadeshiko in check and supporting them, even though they tend to get high and runaway. She sometimes confuses others with cryptic jokes or random jokes, enjoying their reactions. Her grades are excellent, and she's ranked first among the Outdoor Activities Club members.

With her distinctive double teeth and thick, pickled radish-like eyebrows, some may have noticed her resemblance to Tsumugi Kotobuki, the keyboardist for "K-ON!" Incidentally, Aki Toyosaki, who voices Aoi, also voices Yui Hirasawa, the protagonist of "K-ON!" Her eyebrows are very prominent, and even though they're hidden by her bangs as shown in the image, they're still drawn on. She has a younger sister named Akari, and they look almost identical, except for a smaller version of Aoi. Even her tendency to joke and make up stories is similar to her older sister, Aoi.
2nd Place: Nadeshiko Kakamigahara
Ranked second is Nadeshiko Kakamigahara. Her name is written as "Kagamihara" and pronounced "Kagamihara." She's a bright and energetic high school girl, and coincidentally, she shares the same birthday as Aoi Inuyama (March 4th). Ogaki Chiaki also mentions that she shares her birthday with Heihachiro Oshio. She's quite physically fit, and on the day she moved, she cycled to see Mount Fuji. The distance she traveled was approximately 40km, indicating she cycled quite a distance. Afterward, Nadeshiko was exhausted and took a nap on the side of the road. The sun was setting, and she was at a loss. But this experience led her to meet Shima Rin. Influenced by Rin, she became addicted to camping and joined the Outdoor Club. Her grades were surprisingly good among the members of the Outdoor Club, even surpassing Chiaki's.
The Secret of Her Physical Strength
Nadeshiko's stamina dates back to her middle school days. While she's currently of average build, as you can see in the photo, she was actually quite overweight during her junior high school days. To lose weight, she cycled around Lake Hamana every day during summer vacation (a 50-70km cycle). Nadeshiko's incredible stamina stems from this experience. With that in mind, her aforementioned 40km bike ride makes sense.
1st Place: Shima Rin
The honorable first place winner is Shima Rin. A high school girl who loves camping alone, she's so serious about it that she even camps during the off-season in winter. She's the character who most closely embodies the series' theme of "camping." With her vast knowledge and experience, seeing Rin camping may have inspired some to try it themselves. She's the one who sparked Nadeshiko's interest in camping, making her a key character in the story. Originally, she preferred doing things alone, not just camping, but after interacting with Nadeshiko and her friends, she began to think that it might be fun to enjoy it with others. This shift in values is also fascinating to watch. While the series has many fascinating characters, Rin is such an important character that it's impossible to discuss "Yuru Camp△" without mentioning her, so we're proud to give her the top spot.
