Toji no Miko (Sword Maidens) has been airing since January 2018, and is a battle series in which girls use swordsmanship to fight monsters called Aratama. A little after the anime aired, Square Enix released the app Toji no Miko: Kizamishi Issen no Touka, which is a swordplay action RPG. Although the perspectives of both the anime and app are different, the main story is connected. Today, we will be introducing a unique ranking of the strength of the characters that appear in Toji no Miko!
A brief introduction to the contents of Toji no Miko

In a world where strange monsters called Aratama are rampaging in Japan, this work depicts the daily battles of girls called Toji who have been trained to use swords called omitaka to defeat the Aratama and protect people. Each character has their own school of swordsmanship, and most of these are based on real schools, and the way they use swords is also expressed based on that.
15th place Uchizato Ayumi CV: Owada Hitomi
Source: Toji no Miko © Gokaden Keikaku / Toji no Miko Production Committee
A Toji girl who is enrolled in the Ayakouji Martial Arts Academy and admires Kanami. She was trying her best to become stronger, but she was tricked into relying on the power of the slow. She would be even stronger in slow mode, but this time we will consider her normal strength. She's a rising star with great potential.
14th place: Principal Takatsu, CV: Yukana
Source: Toji no Miko © Gokaden Keikaku / Toji no Miko Production Committee
All Toji no Miko fans love the hysterical aunt, commonly known as Principal Takatsu. She is the current president of Kamatsuke Girls' Academy and was a member of the expedition team that defeated the Great Calamity 20 years ago, so if we take that into account, she would probably be a stronger swordsman, but since there is no depiction of her fighting, I ranked her based only on her intimidating strength (lol). She's famous for hissing every time she appears, but I just wanted to include her, so she's ranked 14th this time (lol)
13th place: Senior at Nagafune Girls' Academy
Source: Toji no Miko © Gokaden Project / Toji no Miko Production Committee
The school she trained is unknown, but she is a senior at Nagafune Girls' Academy who trained Kanami and the others. At the time, she trained well, but when she showed up later, even though her opponent was Yume, she was defeated without much of a chance to show off, which was disappointing. She was a good person, though.
12th place: Satsuki Yomi (CV: Mai Fuchigami)
Source: Toji no Miko © Gokaden Project / Toji no Miko Production Committee
I think he was chosen as a guard because he is strong and third in the Origami family guards, but the battle scenes seem to rely on the Ara-tama, and the main body is always defeated pretty quickly, so I don't know his pure strength when using the sword, and I was only left with the impression that the Ara-tama is amazing, so I ranked him 12th. Maybe it's because he seems to lose even when he uses Ara-tama a lot, but I'd like to see a pure sword fight someday.
11th place: Mashiko Kaoru (CV: Matsuda Risae)
Source: Toji no Miko © Gokaden Keikaku / Toji no Miko Production Committee
Kaoru, a student at Nagafune Girls' Academy and a member of Maikusa, is in 12th place. She probably has a better image if she was higher, but she's the type who does things when she needs to and is basically lazy, so we decided that 12th place is a safe choice. The way she wields a huge sword with her small body is very impactful.
10th place: Mai Yanase (CV: Azumi Waki)
Source: Toji no Miko © Gokaden Keikaku / Toji no Miko Production Committee
Mai is a student at Minoseki Academy and is like an older sister to everyone. She's Kanami's best friend and is the second strongest in Minoseki after Kanami, but rather than being an individual strong character, she's more of a leader who makes the whole team stronger, which is why she's ranked 11th. In terms of kindness, she's way up there, but even though her opponents were tough, I still have a strong impression that she couldn't pull off her Iai.
9th place: Sayaka Itomi (CV: Hina Kino)
Source: Toji no Miko © Gokaden Project / Toji no Miko Production Committee
Kanamika is a quiet and cute girl from Kamafu Girls Academy. In the early days, she was always bullied by her aunt Hiss, but after joining the Kanami camp thanks to Mai's influence, she gradually became brighter. I don't think she's that different from Kaoru and the others in terms of pure strength, but she's ranked a little higher because she's faithful to her duties and orders and is serious about them.
8th place: Kohakura Ellen (CV: Suzuki Eri)
Source: Toji no Miko ©Gokaden Project/Toji no Miko Production Committee
Ellen is a student at Nagafune Girls' Academy who is good friends with Kaoru. When he first appeared, he had a pretty light-hearted image and seemed like a relatively carefree character, but in reality he was secretly working in the shadows and putting in an incredible amount of effort, which was a nice contrast. I don't think there's a big difference in strength between him and Kaoru, but I thought the way he performed was cool, so I ranked him a little higher. I'm not favoring him because of his chest size.
7th place: Konohana Suzuka (CV: M.A.O)
Source: Toji no Miko © Gokaden Project / Toji no Miko Production Committee
The older sister of the second seat of the Origami family guard. Just being a member of the royal guard makes them strong, but they showed their weakness when they were defeated by Himewa and Kanami in the first battle, but still, they're second place, so they shouldn't be taken lightly, so I guess that's why they're in this position. I'm looking forward to seeing them do better in the second season, when they'll have a new attitude.
6th place Jujou Hiyori (CV: Onishi Saori)
Source: Toji no Miko © Gokaden Keikaku / Toji no Miko Production Committee
Himewa, who is a student at Heijo Academy and whose mother was also a Toji, is often the one who gets teased, probably because of her strict personality, and she was given the lovely derogatory nickname "Eternal Flat Chest." However, her strength was apparent from the moment she first appeared, and the fact that she made it to the finals of the tournament all but proved that she was the second strongest in Kanami's generation, and even Kanami acknowledges her as a rival. This ranking was chosen taking into consideration the fact that she is still in her third year of middle school, but isn't it a given that she will become one of the strongest in Japan in the future?
5th place: Shido Maki (CV: Uchiyama Yumi)
Source: Toji no Miko ©Gokaden Project/Toji no Miko Production Committee
She is the first in the Origami family guards, and has a track record of defeating Suzuhana in the Toji tournament and winning two consecutive championships. There's no doubt that she's strong, but she does show some mental weakness, and even with the bonus of being in first place I thought she'd be lower, but taking into account her increased success from the second season onwards, she's bounced back up to this ranking. I'll say it again, she's just plain strong, being in first place.
4th place: Tsubakuro Yume (CV: Minase Inori)
Source: Toji no Miko © Gokaden Project / Toji no Miko Production Committee
The fourth seat of the Origami family guards, she is a genius who has been blessed with talent since childhood. She is an unrivaled battle maniac. She is a battle-crazed character that is often seen in battle anime. While Maki joined the guards at 16, she was only 12 when she joined, so much so that even Maki, who is in the first seat, says that the new generation is stronger. I think she might even surpass Kanami in terms of maximum instantaneous wind speed strength, but her body is in such bad shape that she looks like Misugi from Captain Tsubasa.
3rd place: Eto Kanami (CV: Hondo Kaede)
Source: Toji no Miko ©Gogaden Project/Toji no Miko Production Committee
The protagonist of this work, the strongest Toji at Minoseki Academy, and an unrivaled swordsman. His strength is such that Sayaka-chan is only a practice partner in the game, and he cannot let Mai-chan's Iai pass. Kanami loves swordsmanship more than anyone else, so much so that she can roughly tell her opponent's style of swordsmanship by the way they hold their swords. Her mother is also a famous swordsman, and the source of her strength is the fact that she was trained by her mother when she was young. Even in her dreams, she practices like a sleep-learner with her mother when she was young, so she is so absorbed in swordsmanship whether she is awake or asleep that she is like a cheat, making her the strongest of her generation without a doubt, and the top two in this article are legends. In the future, the title of strongest will undoubtedly be Kanami's.
2nd place: Origami Yukari (CV: Seto Masami)
Source: Toji no Miko © Gokaden Keikaku / Toji no Miko Production Committee
He is the head of the Origami family and served as the commander of the great subjugation 20 years ago. Even without the Aratama mode, his physical level is still the same as it was back then, so his abilities back then plus what he has cultivated up until now are at a considerable level. Although we don't see many battles without using rough balls, this ranking was decided based on her name value and past achievements. As a legend, I hope she won't lose to the younger generation.
1st place: Fujiwara Minato (CV: Itou Shizuka)
Source: Toji no Miko ©Gokaden Keikaku/Toji no Miko Production Committee
Kanami's mother and her master in her dreams. Her real name is Eto Minato, but since this is from the Toji era, I'll introduce her by her maiden name. I wasn't sure if I should include her since she's not alive, but I decided to include her anyway. She is Kanami's training master in her dreams, and is so strong that Kanami still can't match her, to the point that those who knew her at the time call her the strongest Toji. So, although she is still the strongest, I'm sure that one day her daughter Kanami will be able to defeat her in her dreams.
Strength Ranking Summary
Source: Toji no Miko ©Gokaden Project/Katana Maidens Production Committee
To be honest, it was very difficult because the rankings change a lot depending on whether you have the Arakami mode or S equipment, and there are few direct confrontations in their original state, but other than Hisu-oba there is not much difference between before and after, so this ranking can go up or down at any time, so it would be helpful if you think of it as just a reference (lol). If I add Tagitsu-hime and others, it will become even more complicated, so I left them out this time. Katana Maidens is a relatively innovative approach in which girls fight with swords, and it's interesting, so if you haven't seen it yet, please check it out.
