Toji no Miko (Shrine Maidens of the Sword) is a battle series that began airing in January 2018, in which girls use swordsmanship to fight monsters called Aratama. A little after the anime aired, Square Enix released the app Toji no Miko: Kizamishi Issen no Touka, which is a sword action RPG. Although the perspectives of both the anime and app are different, the main story is connected. In this article, we will introduce the principals of the schools known as Gokaden who appear in Toji no Miko.
A brief introduction to the contents of Toji no Miko

In a world where strange monsters called Aratama are rampaging in Japan, this work depicts the daily battles of girls called Toji who have been trained to use swords called omitaka to defeat the Aratama and protect people. Each character has their own school of swordsmanship, which is based on real schools, and the way they use swords and fight is also depicted based on that.
What is Gokaden?

A vocational school for educating and training Toji in five locations across the country, run under the Swords and Weapons Management Bureau within the police. The presidents of each school were all members who played an active role in suppressing the great disaster 20 years ago, with Origami Yukari becoming the Director of the Swords and Weapons Management Bureau, and the remaining five becoming presidents of Gokaden. While the main focus is on training Toji, they also put effort into education to support Toji activities.

Although she is not a member of the Gokaden, she is the head of the Gokaden, the head of the Swords and Weapons Management Bureau in charge of managing the swords, and the head of the Origami family in charge of managing the Noro. He was a hero during the Sagami Bay disaster 20 years ago, and because of his achievements he was promoted to Director General and was also appointed President of Gokaden University.

One of the Gokaden, the president of Minoseki Academy. As you can see from his appearance, he is very kind and well-liked by the students. When Kanami was treated as the culprit in the attack on Origami Yukari, he was held responsible as the school's president and went through a difficult time, but he still helped Kanami escape and followed up on Mai's search for Kanami, showing his saintly side. He seems to be close to Gojo, the president of Heijo Gakuen.

The uniform is relatively similar to the sickle uniform, with a stylish design with a red collar. The main students who attend are Eto Kanami and Yanase Mai.

The president of Heijo Gakuen, one of the Gokaden, she is a woman with squinty eyes who basically speaks in Kansai dialect. Like Principal Hashima, Himewa was wanted as the culprit behind the attack on Origami Yukari, and was held responsible by the Swords and Weapons Management Bureau. During this time, she met with Principal Takatsu, and lamented the difference in Principal Takatsu's attitude from the past to the present, saying, "You used to call me senpai and you were so cute." Despite everything, she is a kind teacher who cares about her students, such as indirectly encouraging Himewa, who was about to retire from being a swordsman, to get back on her feet.

The uniform is a deep green color with the top and bottom connected. The main students are Jujou Himewa and Iwakura Sanae (sorry if I got her name wrong), who competed in the Imperial Tournament with Himewa. Graduates include Shido Maki, who is the first in the Imperial Guard.
Takatsu Yukina (CV: Yukana)

President of Kamfu Girls Academy, one of the Gokaden series. President Takatsu is always angry, and is nicknamed Hysterical Auntie, commonly known as Hiss Auntie. She's strangely always angry, and Sayaka-chan and Yami are the ones who tend to take out her frustration on her. However, as an anime character she is very charming and often made into a joke, making her an immensely popular hissy aunt among Toji no Miko fans. Principal Gojo says that she used to be cute both inside and out, but if you're wondering if that's true, read on.
President Takatsu Early Period (1st Season)

He is a believer in Origami Murasaki, and no matter how much he is scolded, he will do whatever he wants for Murasaki-sama's sake. He is so loyal that he will do anything to help Murasaki-sama. But after being treated so coldly, he probably took out his stress on other things... He was often seen using the norovirus for dangerous experiments.

After Murasaki-sama was gone, he immediately switched his loyalty to Tagitsuhime, who was inside Murasaki-sama. It seems she was serving Tagitsuhime from the start, but when it comes to Murasaki-sama after Tagitsuhime is gone, she changes so much that she doesn't care about Origami Murasaki at all and just wants to get rid of her. Auntie Hiss is now refreshingly beautiful. In the later episodes, Sayaka rebelled against her, so she continues to carry out crazy experiments with her failed creation, Yami.

When it comes to Principal Takatsu, I ended up talking too much (lol). To be honest, at first I thought he would be a small-time character who would disappear quickly, or that he would reform soon anyway, but Principal Takatsu's hissing didn't stop, instead getting worse and he survived until the second half, which was unexpected (lol). Let's hope that by the end we'll see the hissing aunt reformed and smiling!
Kamafu Girls' Academy uniforms and main students

The design is similar to Minoseki and is cute with a light blue base. The main student is Itomi Sayaka, and Yami, the third seat of the guard, is also a graduate of Kamafu.
Maniwa Sana (CV: Paku Romi)

The president of Nagafune Girls' Academy, one of the Gokaden, and a member of the Maikusa, which is formed against Oregami Murasaki. From the second season onwards, he has been in charge of the Toji as the commander of the Special Ceremony Mobile Police. She often clashes with Mashiko Kaoru, who is a student at her own school, in a good way, and they often exchange silly jokes. Since the principal of Maniwa is Maikusa, the majority of the students at Osafune are also on the Maikusa side, which has led to conflicts with the Origami Murasaki faction.

The president of Ayanokouji Martial Arts Academy, one of the Gokaden. A woman with a very cool and silent atmosphere. She didn't appear much in the first half of the story, and there were many speculations, but it seems that she wasn't the final boss. He appears more frequently in the second half, and is often depicted making suspicious moves regarding Noro together with Principal Takatsu, but deep down he isn't such a bad person, as he intentionally delayed the selection of the guards protecting Tagitsuhime to disobey Principal Takatsu's orders to remove them from Ayanokoji, and it seems he only turned to Noro to prolong the life of his sick bud. To be honest, he didn't appear at all in the first half, and he didn't seem to do much in the second half, so he left a relatively dull impression. But he does look incredibly cool.

It's a cute, clean design with a mainly white base. The main student is Uchizato Ayumi, who was doped with the power of Noro while in active duty. Konohana Suzuka and Tsubame Yume, who were second and fourth place in the Imperial Guard, were also enrolled.

The moderate faction of Hashima Gojo, the extremist faction of Takatsu Sagara, and the second extremist faction of Maniwa are like factions that fought together 20 years ago, but now they are on very different paths.
