Toji no Miko (Shrine Maidens of the Sword) is a battle series that began airing in January 2018, in which girls use swordsmanship to fight monsters called Aratama. A little after the anime aired, Square Enix also released the app Toji no Miko: Kizamishi Issen no Touka, which is a sword action RPG. She is very quiet and was raised to follow orders, so she is less good than most people at expressing her emotions, but despite her young age as a Toji, she is one of the best in her generation and is so skilled that she has been nicknamed a genius.

When Sayaka went to the unit under Kaoru's command as a reinforcement, she silently carried out her duties while Kaoru was not very motivated. The other members of the unit saw her protect her comrades, climb steep cliffs with ease, and fly through the trees, and they were so perfect that they started calling her the captain. In the table tennis match that followed, she showed no weaknesses and overwhelmed the other members, winning their support.
