Toji no Miko (Shrine Maidens of the Sword) is a battle series that began airing in January 2018, in which girls use swordsmanship to fight monsters called Aratama. A little after the anime aired, Square Enix also released the app Toji no Miko: Kizamishi Issen no Touka, which is a sword action RPG. Although the perspectives of both the anime and app are different, the main story is linked. In this article, we will introduce the charm of Itomi Sayaka, who appears in Toji no Miko.

A 12-year-old girl enrolled in Kamatsuke Girls' Academy Junior High School. She is very quiet and was raised to follow orders, so she is less good than most people at expressing her emotions, but despite her young age as a Toji, she is one of the best in her generation and is so skilled that she has been nicknamed a genius.
Sayaka's charm number 1: her adorable looks

There are a ton of girls in Toji no Miko, but I think Sayaka is the representative of the cute type. She has a childish face, but she also has a bit of maturity in her, which I think is a wonderful charm that only Sayaka can bring out. This is just my personal opinion, but I think her hair color is a big plus, and she's very cute.
Sayaka's charm number 2: Very serious

She is treated as a genius by the hysterical aunt, and has received an education that boasts an astonishing success rate of 100% in her missions, so she is very serious and almost never makes jokes or points out anything. Because of this, she is often chosen to keep an eye on the frivolous Kaoru and the easily out-of-control Kanami. Fans would like to see a more relaxed Sayaka-chan, and in the second season, we are gradually seeing more of that side of her.
Sayaka's charm #3: Pitifulness and overflowing transience

Since her first appearance, Sayaka has been constantly ordered around and scolded every time, giving off a very pitiful impression, but it's all the fault of the hissing aunt... Sayaka's fragility is a great accent in Toji no Miko, and it's because of it that her every move and behavior leaves such a big impact.
Sayaka's charm #4: I love Mai

Among the main members of Toji no Miko, there are many pairings with Mai. After she helped him, he became a big fan of Mai-chan. From this point on, we started to see his emotional ups and downs, and it was really great to meet Mai-chan. It was also very addictive when he said in a slightly tearful voice, "I want to eat Mai's cookies."
Sayaka's charm number 5: growth

Of course, the other characters have also grown in strength and as people, but Sayaka's growth is the most visible. She rebels against Aunt Hiss for the first time, and expresses her feelings to her friends. Considering that Sayaka-chan was initially a complete puppet of Aunt Hiss, this is truly moving. It's also nice to see her showing her age-appropriate side and her need for pampering.
Sayaka's charm number 6: President Takatsu's presence

This person was always by Sayaka's side, showing her cuteness, fragility, and growth. Everyone's favorite hysterical aunt. To be honest, President Takatsu has a very unpleasant personality and is full of the feeling of being a pushover, but it is an undeniable fact that Sayaka's presence is even more touching because of her, so let's count President Takatsu's presence as one of the things that makes Sayaka so attractive!
Sayaka's charm number 7: One of the geniuses after all

Because she is often with Kanami and because she faces off against the even more genius Yui, Sayaka's losses are more noticeable, but even at the age of 12 she is said to be a genius and was chosen to represent her school in the Imperial Tournament, so she is quite strong. The strong swordsman who appeared at the beginning of the first episode of the anime was probably Sayaka-chan (the one wearing S-grade equipment).
Sayaka-chan's charm point 8: Special move

Everyone has their own special move, but Sayaka's is kind of like a Trans-Am and it's really cool. She can use the Munen Musou technique (an acceleration device-like technique) for longer than anyone else, which is probably why she's called a genius. But on the flip side, she's also extremely vulnerable to attacks.
Sayaka's charm number 9: She can do anything

When Sayaka went to the unit under Kaoru's command as a reinforcement, she silently carried out her duties while Kaoru was not very motivated. The other members of the unit saw her protect her comrades, climb steep cliffs with ease, and fly through the trees, and they were so perfect that they started calling her the captain. In the table tennis match that followed, she showed no weaknesses and overwhelmed the other members, winning their support. In baseball terms, it's like she's perfect in terms of running, attacking, and defense. By the way, all of this was calculated by Kaoru, who was concerned about Sayaka.
Sayaka's charm number 10: Her hidden kindness

Sayaka-chan is not good at expressing her emotions and is not good at communicating, but she has a lot of kindness inside her. Even when she was determined to defeat the Aratama, she immediately changed her mind after hearing the opinions of others, and she was very kind to Nene. She is not good at showing it on the surface, but her kindness is very warm, and when she occasionally shows it, it warms your heart.

What did you think of the introduction to Sayaka-chan, the silent beautiful girl character from Toji no Miko? Sayaka-chan first appears as an enemy, but the process of her becoming a friend and the changes in her feelings after becoming a friend are very easy to understand, making her a character that is easy to empathize with. In the second half of the series, she smiles more and more, so I think she's a really great character, so if you're interested, check out Sayaka.
