Insanity Reasoning is a mystery novel written by Shirodaira Kyo, which has been adapted into a comic and will be made into an anime starting in winter 2020. While traditional mysteries corner the enemy by uncovering the truth, this work is innovative in that the protagonists are cornered by the truth and confront their enemies with lies, or in other words, fiction. In this innovative work, the protagonist, Iwanaga Kotoko, plays the role of a detective, and she is very annoyingly cute. So, I have arbitrarily and prejudicially ranked the scenes that highlight Iwanaga Kotoko's annoying cuteness!
No. 1 in the Annoying Cute Ranking: "I'm Your Current Girlfriend!" 』
Kotoko Iwanaga once had a crush on Kuro Sakuragawa. However, his relationship with his girlfriend, Saki Yumihara, progressed smoothly, leaving Kotoko with no hope of winning. However, when it became clear that Kuro Sakuragawa was a being feared even by real monsters, the relationship ended. Afterward, for some reason, Kotoko somehow became Kuro's girlfriend, and Saki joined the police force, where she met Kotoko while working on the case involving Nanase.
Kotoko's Annoying Moves
Saki didn't know Kotoko, but Kotoko knew her well. After all, Saki could become Kotoko's greatest enemy. Kotoko appears to have saved Saki, but when she realizes that this is coming first, she irritates her by circling around her in an annoying move. Moreover, he says, "Saki wouldn't have helped him."
Kotoko Gets a Striking Punishment
Saki had never met Kotoko before, so she asked her who she was. She also found her annoying, so she punched her. Kotoko, as if she'd been waiting for this, proudly proclaims, "I'm Sakuragawa Kuro-senpai's current girlfriend!" She then gets punched.
Uzakawa Ranking #2: "I'm in great health!" 』
December 25th, Christmas, and Kotoko Iwanaga were bedridden at home. She seemed to have caught a cold, but that was a lie! A bluff! Kuro generally treats Kotoko roughly, but when he finds out that she has a cold, he's always there to look after her. She wasn't actually sick, but pretending to be bedridden was the plan so they could get all cozy and cuddle.
Kotoko is very popular with the monsters
However, as the goddess of wisdom among the monsters, Kotoko is very popular with the monsters. Even though Kuro doesn't like her, he can't help but visit her and nurse her back to health when she catches a cold. Ochimusha-kun takes the lead and offers to gather other monsters to nurse her back to health.
They've been found out...
Kotoko, unable to let such a golden opportunity slip away, orders the defeated warriors to return. However, she accidentally blurts out, "I'm fine!" and, naturally, Kuro overhears and finds out.
Uzakawa Ranking #3: "Angry Bear Hug"
Kuro's ex-girlfriends, Saki Yumihara and Kotoko Iwanaga, reunite while pursuing Nanase Steel. Kotoko, however, had no intention of introducing Saki and Kuro, who could become her greatest threat in the future. However, once they meet, there's no choice, so she pretends to be his lover and does whatever she can to keep Kuro and Saki from getting too close.
Saki is Scared
Traumatized by her past encounter with a monster and the fact that her lover is even more frightening than that monster, Saki is frightened by the sight of Steel Man Nanase and the monsters who worship Kotoko. While monsters are nothing new to Kotoko and her friends, it's hard not to incite fear when someone you view as your enemy is scared. Saki is frightened by Kotoko's words and instinctively hugs her.
Angry Bear Hug
But it was a bluff from Kotoko. She hugged Saki and then provoked her, asking, "What are you scared of, you grown-up?" Angered by Kotoko's annoying behavior, Saki immediately gave her an angry bear hug.
Uzakawa Ranking #4: "Kotoko's Warmth from Being Overlooked"
During an incident involving Steel Man Nanase, Kotoko Iwanaga meets Saki Yumihara, Kuro's ex-girlfriend. Although Saki broke up with Kuro because he was feared even by monsters, Saki has not been able to get over him. Saki is a thorn in Kotoko's side, and she repeatedly makes blatant advances toward him, trying to keep Saki and Kuro from getting close.
Kotoko's Lie is Exposed
However, Saki, Kuro's ex-girlfriend of five years, quickly overlooks the fact that Kotoko is not Kuro's type and that his affections are somewhat one-sided, based on his facial expressions in the photo evidence. She also overlooks the fact that Kuro has left her out because she doesn't hang out with him, and that he has treated her rather ruthlessly and roughly, based on the content of his emails.
Kotoko Warms Up After a Counterattack
However, Saki found it complicated that Kotoko still claimed to be her lover, knowing that Kuro was a monster, and that Kuro, a good person who never neglects others, was acting so rudely towards Kotoko. Encouraged by Kotoko's reaction, Saki launches a counterattack against her. Kotoko warms up after being hit in a very sensitive spot, and the two exchange tactics continue to exchange words.
Uzakawa Ranking #5: "Sending a Yokai to Saki"
Kotoko, who acts as an advisor to the monsters, discovers the true identity of Steel Man Nanase. However, she also discovers that Steel Man Nanase cannot be dealt with by conventional means. In order to defeat Steel Man Nanase, she needs information, and the quickest way to obtain that information is to contact her boyfriend's ex-girlfriend, Yumihara Saki. However, she honestly doesn't want to rely on Saki if possible.
Kotoko Sends a Yokai
Kotoko ultimately decides to contact Saki and sends a Yokai to summon her to a family restaurant. Since Kotoko doesn't know her contact information, this is her only means of communication, but for Saki, having a Yokai suddenly appear in front of her is a traumatic experience. Meanwhile, Kotoko, who was waiting at the family restaurant, hears news that Steel Man Nanase has appeared and heads to the scene. She then decides to contact Saki by asking the Yokai to deliver a message, partly as a form of harassment.
Kotoko's Unexpected
However, Saki also appears shortly after Koujin Nanase arrives. While she had originally intended for him to wait at the family restaurant, staying there was not an option for Saki, and in the end, Kuro and Saki's reunion was unable to be prevented.
[Instant Reasoning] Ranking of Iwanaga Kotoko's Most Annoyingly Cute Characters
Instant Reasoning, supernatural and fantastical creatures appear as a matter of course, and unlike typical mysteries, the stories do not pursue the truth but instead rely on fiction to convince others. Despite this innovative nature, the protagonist, Iwanaga Kotoko, who plays the detective...or rather, the con artist, is also an annoyingly cute and charming character. She's so annoyingly cute, I'd love to see her cuteness in anime form. The Instant Reasoning anime will begin airing in winter 2020!
