The broadcast of Season 2 of "Kyokou Suiri", which was made into an anime in 2020, has been decided! It is a unique mystery in which the occult is a natural right and the perpetrator of the crime is also a real occult. Is it okay for such a mystery to exist? I would like to look back on the contents of the first season of such a mystery! This time, I have summarized the contents of episodes 7 to 12!

Episode 7: Preparation for the Battle to Defeat the Steel Man

Episode 7①

The steel man Nanase has killed Terada, a police officer who is Saki's colleague. Because of this, the existence of Steel Man Nanase became more convincing, and the image of her being highly violent became even stronger, so the hurdle of eliminating Steel Man Nanase through fiction became much higher. To make matters worse, even though the murdered Terada was a strong police officer, there was no sign of a struggle. This fact spurred the direction that Steel Man Nanase was a vicious ghost.

Episode 7②

Episode 7②

It was clear that if Steel Man Nanase was left alone, the number of victims would definitely increase and it would become irreversible. Kotoko intended to defeat Steel Man Nanase by the end of the night. However, there were several problems that she had to fabricate in order to do so. "The purpose of the attempted obstruction incident that Steel Man Nanase is said to have caused", "The culprit of the incident", "Why Detective Terada was murdered", "Why Detective Terada was murdered without resistance", "Who killed Detective Terada", and even someone must be framed as the culprit, but the culprit must not be arrested, and the person who was pointed out must not be flamed.

Episode 7③

Episode 7③

In a very difficult situation, based on Kuro's idea of solving it in parts, Kotoko prepares four solutions and formulates a policy based on Kuro's ability to decide his future. However, this Steel Man Nanase did not happen by chance when the summary site was created, and it did not happen by chance that he appeared and became strong. Behind the scenes of this incident, a certain person was pulling the strings.

Episode 8: The Weaver of Fiction

Episode 8①

Saki had also met Kuro's first love, his cousin Sakuragawa Rikka. She was sickly and had been hospitalized for a long time, but she was a person who gave off a dark and unfathomable feeling. Rikka had been hospitalized after repeated suicide attempts, but the truth was that she was repeatedly conducting experiments on her own body. In other words, Sakuragawa Rikka, like Sakuragawa Kuro, survived by eating mermaid meat and the meat in question.

Episode 8②

Episode 8②

Rikka is a woman who is somehow detached from the world, and after being discharged from the hospital, she tries to stay with Kuro. However, living alone caused Kuro a lot of trouble, so she reluctantly consulted Kotoko and decided to stay at Iwanaga's house. However, she recently left her house and disappeared. Kuro unintentionally met up with Kotoko and the others in Makurazaka City for this incident, but his actual purpose was to find Rikka.

Episode 8③

Episode 8③

In fact, Sakuragawa Rikka was the one who created the Steel Man Nanase summary site and used her future-determining ability and public opinion manipulation to create Steel Man Nanase. Her purpose is currently unknown, but without Rikka's ability, a monster strong enough to create a monster that kills people could not be created. The structure of this battle was also a battle between Kotoko, Kuro, Saki, and Sakuragawa Rikka, who is behind Steel Man Nanase. And so, the battle to defeat Steel Man Nanase begins.

Episode 9: The Steel Man Nanase Strategy Assembly

Episode 9①

On the bulletin board of the Steel Man Nanase summary site, Kotoko writes about Detective Terada being beaten to death by what appears to be Steel Man Nanase. Due to the circumstances of Terada's death and his mysterious behavior, she proposes that someone used the urban legend of Steel Man Nanase to kill Detective Terada. If a fellow police officer had said he found evidence of Steel Man Nanase and asked him to come, it would have been possible to take out Detective Terada alone. To do this, she pretended to be Steel Man Nanase and waited for eyewitness testimony to be delivered to the police.

Episode 9②

Episode 9②

The means of killing Detective Terada at the site of the former gas station at the murder scene is possible if a pendulum device with a hard block attached to it is used to hit Detective Terada's head in advance. If he is a close colleague, he can persuade him to stand there by saying, "The footprints of Steel Man Nanase are in a position where they are hard to see, I will shine a light on you, so please wait there," and then remotely activate the pendulum device to kill Detective Terada. Considering the traffic volume at the scene, the crime was quite possible.

Episode 9③

Episode 9③

Isn't it unnatural for the murderer who killed Detective Terada to hit him head-on with the murder weapon? Some people say this. This can be explained if you think that he originally intended to kill him from behind, but Detective Terada turned around at the last moment. Or he may have called out to him at the last moment, directing his attention to the front. It is unclear what choice the criminal made, but if you look at the result alone, it is the result the criminal wanted. And the reason the criminal went to such troublesome trouble was to escape from the investigation. If he were to kill a strong police officer head-on, you would infer that it was likely a man. The image of the culprit that emerges from this is a female police officer who is a colleague and knows the details of Detective Terada and can call him.

Episode 9④

Episode 9④

Kuro grasps the future and prepares a conclusion that everyone can agree on, and it seemed like a perfect answer except that the image of the culprit is Saki herself. Public opinion is in favor of that conclusion, but negative opinions soon become dominant. The reason is that Rikka, who has the same ability as Kuro, is competing on the other side of the screen. Kotoko quickly presents a second solution.

Episode 10: The Battle for Fiction

Episode 10①

The second solution proposed was that "Koujin Nanase is a ghost," which should have been denied. If Koujin Nanase is a ghost, it would explain the circumstances in which Detective Terada was murdered. However, it raises the question of what the ghost's motives are. Nanase Karin died in an accident that was close to suicide. If so, what regrets did she have that made her become a ghost? It was to plead her innocence. Nanase Karin was suspected of killing her father and making it look like a suicide, and this was due to the testimony of her father while he was alive and the notes found after his death that showed this.

Episode 10②

Episode 10②

If it turns out that Nanase Karin killed her father under the pretense of an accident, any evidence suggesting this would have been disposed of. In other words, her father committed suicide to frame Nanase Karin. If we assume that she was told this fact by her father in the afterlife after her death, it would explain all of the reasons why Nanase Karin appeared as Steel Man Nanase. The theory proposed above that Nanase Karin was framed by her father and died to prove her innocence gained some support, but it did not lead to a decisive battle.

Episode 10③

Episode 10③

The third solution proposed by Kotoko is the hypothesis that Steel Man Nanase is a living human being and that someone committed the crime with some purpose. Nanase Karin's older sister, Nanase Hatsumi, had doubts about her sister's death. Why did she have doubts? It is possible that she inferred that her sister was actually alive, in other words, that a body swap had occurred, based on the circumstances of her death, in which her face was crushed. The conditions that need to be met for a body swap include fingerprints, blood type, and physical characteristics, but it is impossible to tell from teeth marks because the face is crushed. If these conditions can be met, a body swap is possible.

Episode 10④

Episode 10④

Hatsumi, the older sister, disliked her younger sister who was becoming successful as an idol. Otherwise, her father's diary would not have been leaked to the media, so Hatsumi leaked the diary to the media as a small act of revenge, which resulted in a result beyond her imagination. If the dead sister was a different person, she would take revenge on her as an avenger. Hatsumi, who thought this way, became obsessed and even her daily life became difficult. So a third party who knew Hatsumi played the role of the ghost of her younger sister. The criminal who fits this description is likely to be a somewhat paranoid single person. However, this theory is denied by Rikka as it would drive Hatsumi into even more fear, as Steel Man Nanase is a terrifying presence that commits murder.

Episode 11: The Final Fiction

Episode 11①

The third solution was denied, but everything that had been built up until that point was Kotoko's intention. And then, the fourth and final theory is proposed. The last theory was that the real culprit was Nanase Karin herself. Let's suppose that a person named A met Nanase Karin, who was hiding. Although A's facial features were different, his physical characteristics matched those of Nanase Karin. Nanase Karin becomes close to A, asks him to disguise himself as her substitute, and leaves A's fingerprints at the hotel. Then, she calls A to the construction site.

Episode 11②

Episode 11②

Nanase Karin kills A, crushes his head with a steel beam to prevent his identity from being identified. Then, Nanase Karin replaces A and starts a new life. However, people began to suspect that Nanase Karin, who had become A, had a similar face and a changed personality. Therefore, Nanase Karin needed the existence of Steel Man Nanase to ensure her death. On the bulletin board, third parties have intensified the discussion, and the flow has changed to what to think if Nanase Karin is the real culprit.

Episode 11③

Episode 11③

Then, Kotoko says that it was Nanase Karin herself who created this summary site for Steel Man Nanase and spread the word about Steel Man Nanase to the world. Of course, it was Sakuragawa Rikka who created the summary site, not Nanase Karin. However, Rikka is creating a flow that denies the previous theory. If you are in Nanase Karin's position, the fact that you have to deny that flow makes it convincing. The flow quickly moves to the theory that the administrator is Nanase Karin.

Episode 11④

Episode 11④

And as for the case where Detective Terada was murdered, one day while choosing a place for Steel Man Nanase to appear, she unfortunately encounters Detective Terada. Even though her appearance has changed slightly, her large breasts cannot be hidden. Detective Terada realizes that the person in front of her is Nanase Karin. Nanase Karin had to take the risk and kill Detective Terada. Nanase Karin is alive, and even Rikka cannot overturn that fiction, and finally succeeds in defeating Steel Man Nanase.

Episode 12: The Keeper of Order

Episode 12①

The true identity of Steel Man Nanase is the living Nanase Karin, and Nanase Karin is the person who created the summary site, and is writing on the site at this very moment. The public believed that theory, and the fiction that Steel Man Nanase is not a ghost led to the disappearance of Steel Man Nanase as a ghost. Kuro decided the future, and Rikka was unable to overturn that flow. The ghost Steel Man Nanase disappeared due to the fiction.

Episode 12②

Episode 12②

Rikka, who created the Steel Man Nanase, contacts Kuro's PC and sends a message declaring defeat and saying "See you later". It seems that Rikka has not given up yet. Saki asks Kotoko about her purpose, but she evades the question. Steel Man Nanase and the summary site disappear, and the public no longer talks about Steel Man Nanase. The police will check whether Nanase Karin was a different person, but will soon conclude that it is Nanase Karin herself. The culprit who killed Detective Terada will never be caught, but the case has been solved for the time being.

Episode 12③

Episode 12③

Kuro and Saki meet at a family restaurant, and Saki asks Kuro what Rikka's purpose is. Saki's purpose is to create a monster of imagination and restore her body. And if Rikka creates the next monster of imagination, Iwanaga Kotoko will move again. And Saki once again confirms that Kuro does not live in the same world as her, and the two part ways and start their own lives.

【In/Spectre Season 2】Review of Season 1 Summary Part 2

I've looked back on the contents of In/Spectre Season 1 and summarized them! It's not really a mystery because it uses the occult and ghosts, but the idea of solving the case by using false facts rather than pursuing the truth was novel and interesting. I think it was a very worthwhile anime! I'm really looking forward to Season 2. This time I've summarized Episodes 7 to 12, but I also have an article summarizing Episodes 1 to 6, so please take a look at that too!
