"Gakuen BASARA," a spin-off manga of the hit game "Sengoku BASARA," has finally been adapted into an anime. Among the many fascinating characters in Gakuen BASARA, we focus on Kasuga, who indulges in fantasies about her teacher, Kenshin Uesugi. We'll introduce her voice actor, her character, and her relationship with Uesugi, along with Sengoku BASARA data.

Kasuga's Profile

Class 2-2. Rhythmic Gymnastics Club. She transferred from the newspaper club to the rhythmic gymnastics club after falling in love with Kenshin at first sight. Kasuga is a character who appears in the BASARA series. In Sengoku BASARA, she served Uesugi Kenshin as a kunoichi. Since "serving" is not possible in a modern school setting, Kasuga appears as a student. It's possible that she went from being a subordinate to becoming a student. It may also be related to the fact that Sarutobi Sasuke, an old friend of Kasuga's, is also a student.

Expectations for Kasuga

In Gakuen BASARA, all female characters except for Magoichi Saika are students, perhaps a consideration for the balance between male and female characters. It's strange, since once they're wearing uniforms, everyone looks like a student. Kasuga, who was fascinated by Uesugi Kenshin during the Sengoku period, seems to continue to harbor feelings for him at school. Her favorite subject is art, which Kenshin is in charge of, and her club activity is rhythmic gymnastics, which Kenshin is the advisor for. I'm excited to see how much she'll wreak havoc at school.

Kasuga's Appearance

In Gakuen BASARA, Kasuga dresses like a typical high school girl. While the key visuals don't quite capture the season, sometimes wearing a jacket and sometimes light clothing, Kasuga wears a shirt and vest, eschewing ribbons, ties, or jackets. Judging from the uniforms worn by everyone else, there are probably no specific specifications. However, when looking at the more serious female characters, the only differences are the jacket and ribbon, so Kasuga's outfit is clearly quite conventional.

Visual Differences from Sengoku BASARA

During the Sengoku period, costumes often featured daringly open fronts, so this contrasts with her less revealing appearance, making her look more wholesome. However, it's also notable that her shirt buttons are undone all the way down, revealing a glimpse of her chest. Considering the provocative clothing of the Sengoku period, Kasuga at school seems somewhat subdued.

A beautiful kunoichi serving Uesugi Kenshin. She appeared in the first game. She was a PC until Sengoku BASARA 2: Heroes Gaiden, but became an NPC in Sengoku BASARA 3.
As a character original to BASARA, she has no historical counterpart, let alone a model. Her name is thought to be taken from Kasugayama Castle.

Master-Servant Relationship with Uesugi Kenshin

She originally approached Kenshin with the intention of assassinating him, but fell in love at first sight with his beautiful and noble appearance (a fact that Sasuke often makes fun of).
Kenshin was also captivated by Kasuga's beauty, and by mutual consent, they entered into a master-servant relationship. Kenshin even called her "my beautiful sword," and she favored him beyond that of master and servant.

A love scene on par with Takarazuka Revue

He is deeply devoted to Kenshin, always accompanying him as his trusted aide and fighting beside him. From the outside, their love life resembles a love scene straight out of a Takarazuka Revue production, and he puts on a cheesy skit that's almost embarrassing to watch. Conversely, whenever Kenshin is intimate with anyone other than him, he becomes envious, regardless of gender or age. Incidentally, he is from the same hometown as Sarutobi Sasuke, a member of the Takeda army, and is often teased by him in a flirtatious manner.

A Ninja, But Emotional

In Sengoku BASARA, Kasuga generally has a cold attitude toward people other than Kenshin. He also shows jealousy towards anyone who is close to Kenshin. However, he is essentially a kind person, and will cry and show intense anger when an ally or someone from his hometown dies. He has a strong sense of responsibility and mission, but because he is so easily emotional, it cannot be said that he is suited to being a ninja. This is not only pointed out by Sasuke, but is also noticed by several other warlords.

Fighting Style

She charges into the battlefield, toying with her enemies with ninja skills and the uniquely feminine grace of martial arts. In the first game, she uses a Rinpo. She is a compatible character with Sasuke, sharing the same attack motions, techniques, and attributes. Like the other Sannin, she can perform a double jump, summoning a white bird and then gliding by grabbing onto its foot during the second jump.

The voice actress is Natsuko Kuwatani

Affiliated with I'm Enterprise. In the Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha series, she plays four characters: Alph, Sette, Lutecia Alpino, and Auris Gaze. Born August 8, 1978, and named Natsuko, she dislikes summer. Conversely, she is a pro-level snowboarder, a winter sport. Despite her mature appearance, she is quite short at 149cm.

Summary

Kasuga is out of Kenshin's sight, and has a habit of scattering roses whenever she encounters him. Although he is an original character from the BASARA series, he is very memorable and has a presence that is just as impressive as the boldly arranged and unique warlords of the Sengoku period. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of fantasies Kasuga will bring to life in Gakuen BASARA. Be sure to check out Gakuen BASARA.
