Farin Toden's occupation is magician, and she specializes in exorcisms. As a child, she calmed a spirit wandering the cemetery, and her brother, Raios Toden, encouraged her to pursue a job that would utilize her talents. True to his words, Farin later left her village and enrolled in a magic school. Because he had difficulty fitting in at school, he tends to skip classes and is sometimes called a dropout. However, he has incredible abilities that surprise the elf Marsil, and he also has sharp powers of observation. Because he uses magic intuitively, he seems to have difficulty teaching it.

When they encounter a red dragon in the dungeon, she protects her brother Raios Toden, and even though she is captured by the dragon's fangs, she uses her return magic to save the rest of the party. However, Farin Toden herself becomes the Red Dragon's prey and is devoured. This leads Laios to head to the bottom of the dungeon to rescue his sister. Later, Laios and his friends succeed in defeating the Red Dragon, but only bones remain, and the connection between her body and soul appears to be severed. As a last resort, Marsil, an elf who is also friends with Farin, uses the Red Dragon's flesh and blood to regenerate her using ancient magic. However, this causes her body and soul to merge with the Red Dragon's, and she becomes controlled by the Red Dragon's master, the Mad Magician. Transformed into a chimera, Farin appears to have lost her normal consciousness. Laios and his friends then set out to find the Mad Magician in order to return Farin to her original form.
