Raiosu Toden is the protagonist of "Dungeon Meshi," a Tallman and party leader. He is a monster enthusiast, and his curiosity often leads him to go out of control. He has been poring over the "Labyrinth Gourmet Guide" since he was a child. Curious about what monsters taste like, he began exploring the lower levels, eating them as food. He has trouble remembering people's faces. He's calm and collected and considerate of his friends, but his lack of communication often leads to misunderstandings. He has leadership qualities, but his social skills are lacking...?

Raiosu Toden is a monster enthusiast, but his love for them is extraordinary. When his sister, Farin Toden, is eaten by a red dragon and he finds himself almost penniless and forced to return to the dungeon, he declares without hesitation that he will support himself by eating monsters. Behind those words was a personal feeling: because he loves monsters so much, he has always wondered what they taste like. There is a scene where Laios honestly says, "I love monsters. I want to know what they look like, what they sound like, what their lifestyle is, and eventually what they taste like." Seeing this, party member Chilchuck the Half-Foot is amazed and calls him a psychopath. The "Labyrinth Gourmet Guide" that Laios loves to read is full of sticky notes and notes, and appears to be well-worn.

Raiosu Toden is a typical warrior, clad from head to toe in armor. His weapon is a moving sword with a monster lurking within. He is highly skilled, adept at strategizing, and a reliable leader. He learns magic from the elf Marsil and is able to cast basic healing spells, but because he is still a beginner he sometimes suffers from magic sickness. He is also a serious monster fanatic, which often puts other party members off, but because he is a fanatic he understands the dangers of monsters, and his caution is one of his strengths.
