"Dungeon Meshi" is a hugely popular manga that has won numerous awards, including "This Manga is Amazing! 2016 Men's Edition" and "Recommended Comics of 2016, Chosen by Booksellers Nationwide." It's Ryoko Kui's signature work and is currently serialized in the manga magazine "Harta," published by KADOKAWA. The story is both an adventure and a gourmet story, as the protagonist explores dungeons while cooking monsters from classic fantasy works. Today, we'd like to introduce Izutsumi, a character from "Dungeon Meshi."

Does he have the soul of an animal? Half-human, half-beast

Idutumi is a half-human, half-beast woman who has been infused with the soul of a beast through dark magic. Before her real name was revealed to be Idutsumi, she was known as Asebi. While the species of the beast is unknown, its cat-like eyes, large ears, and tail suggest it may be a feline. It enjoys being stroked on the head and under the chin. It has poor table manners and tends to be a picky eater. Once, when mushrooms appeared, Izutsumi threw them away because he hated them, earning a scolding from the party's dwarf Senshi. Another party member, the half-foot Chilchuck, described it as poorly brought up. However, Izutsumi himself has been known to correct the way he holds a spoon.

Looks like a black cat? Idutsumi's job is Ninja

Idutsumi, clad in ninja-like attire, is a ninja, as his job suggests. He moves nimbly and fights with a sense of speed. He doesn't appear to use any particular weapon. Being half feline, it likely fights using its claws and fangs. Even when Izutsumi took Marsil hostage in order to have the curse placed on him lifted, it simply brought its claws close to Marsil's brow.

The Curse Placed on Idutumi

Idutumi is under two curses. The first is that the souls of a human and a beast (probably a feline) have been intermingled through dark magic. This curse is apparently impossible to break, as "souls that have once mixed can never return to their original form." The second curse is placed around the neck and activates if the caster does not touch it for a certain period of time. It is thought to be a curse that does not allow escape. This curse is thought to have been placed by Maizuru, but since Maizuru and his companions left Izutsumi behind and returned to the surface, there is a possibility that the curse will be activated. However, this curse was lifted by Marsil.
