Comic Girls is an anime that began airing in the spring of 2018. It's a coming-of-age comedy anime about young girls who aspire to become manga artists. We'd like to introduce all of the unique characters that appear in Comic Girls.
What is Comic Girls?
The original work is a four-panel comedy manga currently being serialized in Manga Time Kirara MAX. A brief synopsis follows the story of manga artist Kaoruko Moeda, who placed last in a reader survey. Her unique style is highly praised, and she makes her professional debut, but her drawing skills and storytelling are catastrophically lacking. At that time, she decides to move to Tokyo and live in a girls' dormitory for manga artists in order to improve her skills. There, she spends her hectic days with a cast of unique characters.
Main Characters of Comic Girls
This article introduces the manga artists and aspiring artists who live in the girls' dormitory. It turns out that the first letter of their surnames represents the genre of manga they write.
Kaoruko Moeta
The protagonist of Comic Girls. A 15-year-old high school student and manga artist, she goes by the pen name "Kaosu," and is referred to by her dormmates and editors. She looks nothing like a high school student and is sometimes mistaken for an elementary school student. Her distinctive feature is her pink, braided hair. According to Koyume, it's of excellent quality.
She's very shy and negative. She has few friends and rarely talks to anyone outside of her dorm mates. However, deep down, she's a very tenacious and hardworking person, quickly coming up with a new name even if one is rejected.
Her catchphrase, "Ababababa," is what she says when she's upset. It's so cute!! He is a serious otaku, and particularly loves beautiful girls, collecting beautiful girl figurines and watching anime. Furthermore, when imagining or interacting with beautiful girls, his reactions are sometimes hard to imagine coming from a 15-year-old girl, so he is aptly described as "an old man inside."
She writes manga entirely on a tablet PC, so she's skilled at computers and digital drawing. She's even helped out the technically challenged Ruki Irokawa. However, she's not very good with analogue work, and when she worked as an assistant for a dorm resident, she ended up being a hindrance.
Koyume Koizuka
Kaoruko's roommate and illustrator of shojo manga. Her pen name is "Koyume Koizuka." She is very cheerful and has excellent communication skills. She transferred to a new high school at the same time as Kaoruko, but made many friends in just one day. She has blonde hair, is a little on the chubby side, and has very large breasts. She likes sweet things, but is self-conscious about her figure.
She admires Tsubasa, and often behaves shyly and like a girl in love when in his presence.
As a manga artist, she excels with her drawing skills and listens to her friends' love stories to create story ideas for her manga. However, her ability to draw men is awful.
Irokawa Ruki
A young manga artist who used to be a senior to Kaoruko and Koyume in the girls' manga artist dormitory. She's been friends with Tsubasa since elementary school. Her pen name is "Big Breasts ♥ Himeko," which was given to her by her editor, but she is self-conscious about her small breasts and doesn't live up to her name. She is very slender and tall.
When she's tired after staying up all night or trying to meet a deadline, her words and actions become sexy, regardless of her intentions, and she stirs a buzz around her. Very sexy. His mature style has been recognized and he draws teen love manga, but he himself wants to draw heartwarming manga and is embarrassed about the fact that he draws teen love manga. He loves cute things and often hugs Kaoruko.
Tsubasa Katsuki
Ruki's roommate, a young girl who is a manga artist and has been friends with Ruki since elementary school. She has short hair, wears only a skirt as part of her school uniform, and wears a T-shirt and hoodie over it. Her very boyish appearance makes her popular with the female students. Her pen name is "Wing V."
Although she has a cool personality, she also has some chuunibyou-like traits. When she starts concentrating while writing, she becomes completely immersed in the characters, imitating their lines and poses. She loves manga, and when she talks about manga, she gets excited and transforms from a cool personality to a passionate one. Wing V keeps her female identity a secret, preventing her from participating in autograph sessions and handshake events. This worries her, as she cannot hear the opinions of fans in person.
Suzu Koura
A horror manga artist who is one year older than Kaoruko and her friends. She usually has bangs covering her eyes, giving her the appearance of a woman from a horror movie, but she's also incredibly beautiful, with a great figure and translucent white skin.
She loves to surprise people, and Kaoruko's quick reactions have her constantly surprising them. These days continued, and Kaoruko became sick. However, when she realized that Suzu was beautiful and had large breasts, she became less wary of her.
She has an urge to be noticed by others, but she's not used to being treated friendly and prefers being feared. She's very good at teaching about manga, and Kaoruko has learned from her on several occasions.
Characters Supporting Comic Girls
Introducing the characters who support the girls as they strive to become manga artists.
Ririka Hanazono
The dorm mother of the girls' manga artist dormitory. She wears glasses and is a kind older sister with a very gentle personality. She originally lived in the same dorm as Kaoruko and was a serial yuri manga artist. She is very attentive and an excellent dorm mother. She is in charge of Ruki's makeup and hairstyle when she attends autograph signings, and is very feminine.
Mayu Hanzawa
A junior colleague of Ririka and Miharu, and Kaoruko's editor. She wears glasses, has a bob haircut, and is shorter than Ririka. Although she is strict with Kaoruko, she values her character more than anyone else and is a kind-hearted woman who worries about and supports her. She has a high level of pride and dislikes people who make fun of her glasses.
Miharu Nijino
She is a classmate of Ririka and Kaoruko's homeroom teacher. While she usually tries to act strict like a teacher, she actually has a childish personality. She loves 2D boys and is a huge fan of Wing V's Dark Hero.
When she takes off her makeup, she has a baby face and looks natural in a uniform. Even Tsubasa doesn't recognize her as a teacher.
