Comic Girls began airing as an anime in spring 2018. This time, we'd like to introduce the appeal of the Comic Girls anime.

What kind of anime is Comic Girls?

This four-panel comedy manga about a manga artist is currently being serialized in Manga Time Kirara MAX. The original author is Kaori Hanzawa. The main character, Kaoruko Moeda, ranked last in a reader survey. Her editor recognizes her unique sense and potential and she makes her professional debut, but her story and design skills are lacking and she fails to gain popularity. At her editor's recommendation, she moves into a girls' dormitory for manga artists. This anime follows the hectic lives of a girl who also aspires to be a manga artist and other girls who are currently serializing their own manga.

It's no exaggeration to say that all the characters in Comic Girls are cute. Not only are their character designs fantastic, but each girl has a unique personality. With girls of all genres appearing, such as "cute lolitas," "cute with big breasts," "cool beauties," and "cool boyish girls," there's sure to be a character you'll fall in love with. Why not have fun trying to find out what kind of character or personality you like in a girl?

The secondary characters are cuter than the main characters!?

The story of Comic Girls revolves around four girls living in a girls' dormitory for manga artists. Naturally, these four girls are cute and unique, but the supporting characters who support them are so prominent that some people consider them even cuter than the main characters. You might find a character with your favorite personality among these supporting characters, so why not give them a try?!

I really like the main characters of Comic Girls!!

The main character, Kaoruko Moeda, is short with pink, braided hair. Her most distinctive feature is her baby face, which makes her look like she's not a high school student. Despite her appearance, Kaoruko is a genuine otaku inside. She's also an otaku who loves beautiful girls, so much so that she imagines what she wants them to do to her and thanks God when a beautiful girl hugs her. She looks like a child, but inside she's an old man, so isn't she popular with the main character?!

Comic Girls is not just a comedy anime!!

While the story is primarily a comedy-driven one, it's not just about comedy. There are also some technical aspects that focus on manga artists. For example, it depicts the pens used to draw manga, how to draw digitally, scenes from assistant work, the struggles of manga artists, and more, so you get to see things you don't normally see, making it even more interesting.

The characters in Comic Girls are hard workers!!

The characters are cute girls who usually have a carefree demeanor, but each one is dedicated to their passion for manga. Kaoruko's roommate, Koyume, is a cute, laid-back girl who may seem to draw manga however she pleases, but she actually thinks about how to make her manga more realistic by talking about love with her friends. One of the charms of this work is that it features characters who spare no effort to do so.

Each character in the fictional manga featured in Comic Girls draws a different genre. The protagonist, Kaoruko, draws a moe-themed manga, while Tsubasa draws a supernatural battle manga that seems like it could be found in Shonen Jump. Each fictional manga is depicted in the anime with care, so it feels natural to watch. One of the joys is seeing who is drawing what kind of manga.

The heartwarming atmosphere is charming!!

As a four-panel manga currently being serialized in Manga Time Kirara MAX, it's a heartwarming read. However, heartwarming anime can easily become stale, but Comic Girls cleverly avoids this with the introduction of new characters and scenes that fans will enjoy. It's an anime that's enjoyable without being too heartwarming.

Comic Girls is sure to make you laugh!!

You might think that comedy manga is supposed to be funny, but manga and anime that focus too much on humor can end up being boring. Comic Girls, however, lets you laugh without any of that worry. I especially laughed out loud when Kaoruko's jokes were met with a well-comedy response. Making people laugh naturally can be difficult, but Comic Girls nails it.

Comic Girls' voice actors are a mix of newcomers and veterans!!

The voice actress who plays the protagonist of Comic Girls, Kaoruko Moeta, is Hikaru Akao. This is her first time playing a main character. Her voice is memorable, making her a promising voice actress. Additionally, Tsubasa Katsuki is played by Rie Takahashi, a veteran who has voiced Megumin in KonoSuba and Emilia in Re:Zero. This anime is flawless, with a diverse cast of voice actors, from newcomers to veterans.

The animation company behind Comic Girls is highly capable!!

The animation production company behind Comic Girls is Nexus, whose most notable work is Wakaba*Girl, their first major project. Other than that, they are co-producing The Asterisk War with SILVER LINK. They don't produce many works as the main contractor, but they are collaborating with major animation production companies to produce anime, so they have plenty of talent. So far, the animation has been going smoothly with no disruptions.
