The currently airing anime series "BANANA FISH" is based on the manga of the same name by Akimi Yoshida, which was serialized in Bessatsu Shojo Comic from 1985 to 1994. It has also been adapted into a stage play in the past, but this time, as part of Akimi Yoshida's 40th anniversary project, it has been adapted into anime for the first time by Noitamina. Set in New York, the story follows two boys as they unravel the mystery of "Banana Fish." This time, we'll be introducing Ash Lynx, one of the two boys and the series' protagonist.

Ash Lynx is the main character of this work. His name is not his real name, but a nickname. Ash means "ash" and Lynx means "wildcat," reflecting his untamed and limitless freedom. His real name is Athrun Jade Karenreese. His mother disappeared when Ash was a child. With an IQ of over 180, he possesses a sharp mind and leadership qualities. He also has blond hair and green eyes, making him a beautiful man. He wields a Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum with a cut-off barrel.

A boy with a human heart.

Because he's set in America, Ash carries a gun and often gets into gunfights. He also has ties to the mafia, but he values human life. When Mafia boss Dino Francis Golzine remarks to Ash that one of his subordinates murdered a certain person, "I don't need your help for something like that," Ash responds with anger, "Killing one person is no big deal!" He even makes Golzine promise that he will never let street kids kill anyone. Ash's kindness is evident in various scenes, such as when he gives a subordinate who secretly follows Golzine's orders a mere warning, even though this is considered tantamount to betrayal and would normally be punished.

Ash Lynx possesses exceptional charisma and has served as the leader of the street kids in the slums of New York City since he was 17. He also possesses exceptional combat abilities, skilled in marksmanship, martial arts, and knife handling. Ash is a talented athlete, and many people admire him for his intelligence and strength. His rival, Frederick Orser, also speaks highly of him, saying, "Many people are fooled by his appearance, but he has no chance of winning if you use honest methods." A police officer also said, "He's quite a capable man, and he quickly united the local groups." "And it's no mean feat to be able to lead Puerto Ricans, Mexicans, and even blacks, despite being white." He's also a compassionate person, and while he's not particularly afraid of being hurt himself, he is extremely afraid of harming those he trusts.

He also has a dark past...
