"Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest" has sold over 5 million copies, and the second season of the anime is scheduled for January 2022. Do you know who wrote the original work and which company is producing the anime? The first season aired in 2019, but today we'll take a look back at the author and the people involved in the anime's production!

The original author of "Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest" is Ryo Shirakome!

Title

The author of "Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest" is Ryo Shirakome. While the name "Shirome Ryo" may not ring a bell, this author's debut work was "Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest." He has written no other works. (He appears to have written fan fiction before that.) As the title suggests, the site where it's published is "Let's Become a Novelist," referring to the "Narou" genre. When he wanted to write an original work, the "strongest" genre was popular among Narou novels, and he somehow jumped on the bandwagon and started writing. Incidentally, and while it's not really relevant, the author has moved around the country, visiting Mie Prefecture, Osaka Prefecture, Kagoshima Prefecture, Aichi Prefecture, and Shizuoka Prefecture. Apparently, it was while he was in Kagoshima that he began writing "Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest." As of 2021, the original novel has a total of 17 volumes, including 11 main stories, 5 side stories, and 1 short story collection. His hobbies are reading and motorcycles, but there was a sad story about his mother selling his motorcycle because it was "in the way" while he was constantly traveling around Japan (lol).

Not Just Novels! Comic book adaptations are also appearing one after another!

Manga Version

The original work is the novel "Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest," but various comic book series have been released. First, there's the manga version, "Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest," which is a direct adaptation of the original work. The illustrations are by "RoGa," and are perhaps the most familiar. The story follows the same flow as the anime, so if you're looking to refresh your memory before the second season, it might be quicker to read the manga version rather than the original novel. As of April 2021, eight volumes have been published.

Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest: Zero

Zero

"Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest: Zero" is a light novel originally published in paperback. This work is a complete spin-off, with the tagline "The lineage of Zero leading to 'Hajime'." It is illustrated by Ataru Koji. The story centers on the underdog, third-rate alchemist Oscar Orcus, and offers a completely different story from the anime. The series began serialization in 2018, with six volumes currently published.

Arifureta: From an Ordinary Everyday Life to the World's Strongest

Arifureta: From an Ordinary Everyday Life to the World's Strongest

"Arifureta: From an Ordinary Everyday Life to the World's Strongest" is a four-panel comic that's completely different from the original. While the characters are familiar from the original, the content has a much stronger comedy element. The illustrations are by Misaki Mori, who also created the end card for Episode 09 of the first season of the anime. Personally, I think the content is more geared toward children than the original, so I think it's a work that even children can enjoy. This work began serialization in 2017, and as of 2021, four volumes have been published.

Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest

"Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest" is a heartwarming manga set in a school. It centers around Hajime, a new student at a magic school, and his teacher Yue, his classmate Shea, the chairman Tio, and the student council member Kaori, known as the "Bomb 4," who cause mayhem. The illustrations are by Misaki Mori, who also worked on "Arifureta: Everyday Life," and the first volume is currently out.

What animation company is behind "Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest"?

WHITE FOX

The production company for the first and second seasons of the "Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest" anime changed, with the first season being produced by "WHITE FOX." WHITE FOX's signature works include "Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-" and "Is the Order a Rabbit?", as well as numerous other well-known series. While slightly older, WHITE FOX also produced "Katanagatari" and "Steins;Gate."

studio MOTHER

The animation for the second season of the anime is being produced by "studio MOTHER." I didn't know much about this company, so I did some research. It turns out they were founded in 2019, and this is their first TV anime production. However, the company itself was created specifically for the "Space Battleship Yamato" series, and they are currently producing the animated film "The Era of Space Battleship Yamato: The Choice of 2202 AD."

Athlead Inc.

They co-produced both the first and second seasons of the anime, and Athlead is the only company to do so again for the second season. Athlead's notable works include "Mirai Nikki," "Ga-Rei," and the "Minami-ke" series (Okawari/Okaeri).

What network will "Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest" be broadcasting on?

dAnime

The network that will broadcast the second season of "Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest" has not yet been announced, but since the first season aired on TOKYO MX, BS11, and AT-X, I expect it will air on those same stations. However, it may not be available in some areas... In that case, d Anime Store is the answer! The first season of the anime was released as quickly as possible, so I'm hoping that the second season will be released as quickly as possible as well. It's relatively inexpensive at just ¥440 per month, so it might be a good idea to take advantage of this opportunity to sign up (lol).
